We kickoff this spring issue with a rock 'n roll themed styled shoot! Kayla of Dot The i events formed a team of professionals to bring something fresh to the scene. They wanted to break from boho to show couples they can have a lot of fun with their nuptials and stand out. And we think they nailed it! The vibe is everything.

Next is "It's My Big Day," featuring Allyson and Jordan's farmhouse wedding. Allyson is the owner of the enchanting 1868 Farmhouse in Boone, Iowa, so she was intimately familiar with the beauty of the property. Plus, when you have the talented Shelly Sarver Designs, you know the florals and decor will be fantastic. Wait until you see their floral arch, wow!

To close out the issue, we go to Eastern Iowa for Emily + Mitchell's nuptials. Their rainy wedding day delivered so many romantic, personal elements that perfectly captured the couple's enduring love.

FARMHOUSE WEDDING

You know it's a true celebration when the wedding party dances down the aisle together to “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers.

Before Jordan and Allyson’s beautiful wedding, there was the epic proposal. Jordan told Allyson he needed help capturing drone footage of a damaged crop field for insurance. As she got the drone above the field, she looked at the monitor to see Jordan had tilled “Marry Me?” into the ground.

When she looked up, Jordan was on one knee in tears with a ring in hand. What’s even more special is that they had their first date a few years prior in the same field! Iowa love at it's finest!

As the owner of The 1868 Farmhouse in Boone, Iowa, Allyson had the dream venue. Multiple timeless rooms, stunning brick and historic charm — what more do you need in a gorgeous wedding venue? It was truly the perfect setting.

The entire place was full of beautiful florals from Shelly Sarver Designs. Made up of white and dusty blue flowers with touches of greenery, Allyson’s bouquet matched her bridesmaids’ dresses. “Shelly is a master at what she does. She takes a vision and turns it into a reality better than anything you could have imagined,” she said. Speaking of her bouquet, Allyson had a picture of her dad in a locket attached to her arrangement. A special element to remember her late father.

Allyson already had a dream venue, as she is the owner of The 1868 Farmhouse in Boone, Iowa.

As she and Jordan danced down the aisle, Allyson wore a lovely mermaid dress from Modern Dress. From the beautiful details to the chic neckline, the dress was definitely a showstopper.

Since the two had so much fun during their special day, they said they often forgot it was pouring rain all day — EXCEPT when they had their outdoor ceremony. The raindrops stopped just in time for them to walk down the aisle. How crazy!

When it came to vendors, Allyson and Jordan completely trusted and loved all who made their wedding day special.

“I think it’s important to book vendors you vibe well with because you end up spending so much time with them on your wedding day and might even end up being great friends with after,” Allyson said. The day couldn’t have been more fun!

The bride honored her late father with a locket including his photo attached to her bouquet.

It rained the whole day, but as luck would have it, the clouds parted for a clear evening in time for the vows!

The rainy day added to the romantic, magical mood for Emily and Mitchell's big day!

LUCK OF THE RAIN

One could say Mitchell and Emily were destined to end up together. While they did grow up going to the same schools, the two remember meeting in fifth grade. From lockers next to each other to the same class schedules to partners in every class, they were constantly together. Emily said she doesn’t remember asking to be paired with him, but somehow it always ended up like that, until, sixth grade. The next year was the exact opposite. No classes. No partner. Completely separate. This time apart made them realize they missed one another. What puppy love!

The proposal was a bit tricky. Mitchell left for basic training for the Air Force in December 2020 and because of the pandemic they couldn’t see each other. After his selection, he surprised Emily by coming home and arranging a proposal in downtown Cedar Rapids over the Cedar River. Fortunately, Emily’s friend is a photographer and arranged for a photoshoot for the big moment. To make it even more special, the two went out to dinner where both of their families were waiting to celebrate with them.

How gorgeous and meaningful! Emily's grandfather built the arch and cross for the ceremony.

For the wedding, they truly had so many personal touches. One of the most special details was Emily’s jewelry.

“Most of my jewelry was my late grandmother’s, even her wedding band worn on my pointer finger,” Emily said. “It felt like she was still there with me.”

For Emily and Mitchell, the most memorable moment was when they shared their vows. They both individually wrote their vows

expecting them to be different. During the ceremony, they sounded like they had written the vows together. They just knew each other so well and couldn’t wait to be married!

“Reading them and hearing one another’s for the first time is something I’ll never forget,” Emily said.

The night was one to remember. The two celebrated with family and friends in style. From the coffee truck to the cookie wall

Emily’s dad built, the reception was certainly memorable. The whole day was captured by Photography By Corinne. Emily shared how great Corinne was before and after the wedding by making sure she got all the photos she wanted.

The couple started off married life with a lovely celebration. Emily shared how grateful she was

for her wedding coordinator from Elizabeth Bliss Events. With Mitchell halfway across the country during all the planning, all vendors were so flexible and worked hard to make their dream a reality.

“They all went above and beyond in so many ways!” Emily said.
