Painted Honeyeater
THE PAINTED honeyeater is very particular with its diet, preferring mainly the fruit of mistletoe trees, which is why it moves and migrates as different species of mistletoe bloom.
It is mainly seen in Queensland and New South Wales west of the Great Dividing Range, through to northern Victoria.

During winter, painted honeyeaters migrate to north Queensland, around Cape York Peninsula, and eastern areas of the Northern Territory.
Painted honeyeaters like to make their homes in dry, open forests and woodlands.
Both the male and female painted honeyeater build and shape the nest, which are cup-shaped and made from a variety of materials including fine roots, bark, and grass.
This beautiful bird is listed as vulnerable in several states and territories in Australia due to habitat loss from land-clearing.
