Diesel Performance Truck Parts

At Heath Diesel Power our goal is to deliver the most cost-effective towingperformance components and packages possible. Over the years, in our shop operation, we have focused on modifications which provide our customers the highest practical output obtainable with the factory or near factory engine combination. The most important performance characteristic, for them, had to be strong uphill towing-power/speed while maintaining engine operation within the EGT limit. This quest for maximum practical output ultimately lead to the development of our Turbo-Master boost controls and to these component and package offerings.

Heath Diesel Power History We started business in ’84 as an extension of our hobby, which is drag racing. Located here in central Washington, we are surrounded by steep grades so anytime we went racing, we were having to tow up hill. When we started using the 6.2 GM diesel in the early 80′s our uphill speed was slowed considerably as compared to the 454 we had been running. Before long, however, we were finding ways to increase pulling power in the 6.2 and soon we were able to lead the pack uphill and without having to stop at every gas station along the way! Our ability to develop strong uphill towing power created a bit of notoriety among fellow racers and the word spread to others who tow. Soon we found ourselves in business outfitting trucks with turbochargers and other performance modifications. We did quite a few turbo setups and many with water / mist injection for intercooling. Turbocharger compressor maps and other engineering data are often not readily available, which necessitated the development of test procedures that allowed us to gather the data needed. We would outfit test trucks with a variety of pressure and temperature measuring apparatus and hook up to heavy loads then head for a long steep hill. We could chart turbine inlet pressure, compressor outlet pressure, inlet air temperature, exhaust temperature, outside air temperature and etc. These allowed us to chart the range of maximum-efficient compressor-output and correlate these to turbine housing restriction levels. Through these findings we determined the most efficient boost pressure output ranges, which guided our developmental efforts in each Turbo-Master design.

A Turbo-Master For Every TurboDiesel In 2001, we decided to get serious about volume producing the Turbo-Master and making it available to end users for home installation. At this time, we offer these models:   

GM for the ‘92 – ’95 6.5 GM96 for the 96-2000 6.5 truck HMV for center mount turbo

Through it all, we have held fast to our goals to create meaningful applications of van and H-1 towingperformance gains, provide solid value and to have fun doing it. The turbo diesel is really beginning to blossom as the engine of choice among those who tow heavy; however, there is much work to do in helping it be all it can be. Looks like an exciting future and big fun to us

Max E Tork Towing Program&TurboMaster 1994-2000 6.5L Diesels Heath Diesel’s Max E Tork Programs are fully integrated, and tailored per order to the customers application. The programs improve the transmission functions, as well as improving both the Fuel Curve and the Timing Curve. With a Towing Program ,this combination adds 40-50 HP and 100 Foot Pounds at the flywheel. The Turbo-Master boost controller provides 15 psi under full throttle applications. It allows the turbo to run much more efficiently and improves turbo responsiveness as well. The Turbo-Master bolts on the side of the turbo to replace the gold vacuum canister that's driven by the vacuum pump. These upgrades also help lower exhaust temperature and commonly improve fuel mileage. This kit includes both the Max E Tork Program & Turbo-Master.

Heath's Super-Cool System 1993-2002 6.5 Diesel's The Super-Cool system is one that solves the overheating issues the 6.5L Diesel trucks have been burdened with once and for-all. With this system the truck will stay under 210 on both sides no matter the application. The kit includes a special, non-production water pump, unique heavy duty fan clutch, larger 21" 9 blade fan and proper thermostats. The factory system has a poor flow characteristic that flows more towards the driver side, leaving the passenger side running 30+ degrees hotter than what the gauge reads. The passenger side running hotter is often why they have head and head gasket failures on the passenger side of the engine. This system is designed to work with the factory dual or single thermostat set up, so it will not include the thermostat manifold to change from one to the other. Whether you're towing 5,000 Lbs or 20,000 Lbs - the Super-Cool upgrade keeps the engine under 210 even on a hot summer day with the a/c on and the kids in the back.

Cold Air-Box Heath's New Cold Air-Box is a complete 100% Cold Air/ Ram Air intake system. For 1993-2002 C/K Trucks & Suburban's. The Cold Air-Box is a very simple, very quick installation, and is quite effective. The Air-Box includes everything you need for the installation including a high quality filter. The Air-Box has much better flow capabilities, and will even keep up the Heath Stage 3 Performance Kit that makes 430 HP at the flywheel. As well as improved flow capabilities, the Cold Air-Box provides increases in fuel mileage and performance and lowers the intake air temperature to provide for better combustion efficiency.
