Waking Up Izzy

Page 1

Waking Up Having to go to school ruins the morning. You tell your parents “go away!” without even opening your eyes. You ignore the unfair alarm clock. “5 MORE MINUTES!!!!!! Please mom?” She says, “no.” Suddenly, with a blink, the world turns cold, hard, and bright. Gone is the warm, dark coziness beneath your eyelids. Gone is the last wisp of dreams. It’s like stepping out of the shower into a snowdrift. When you’re excited for something in the morning (like Christmas ), sleep never comes. Tossing and turning in a frenzy, you try to pull the morning closer. Is it Christmas yet? It is? Yes!!! You’re thrilled to see the brightness of morning. Leaping out of bed, the transition from night to day as quickly as the blink of an eye. But by far the best type of waking up is on weekends and in the summer. You have the cozy feeling of all the time in the world. It feels like you’re gently drifting to back to the shore after a long time at sea. It’d be nice if the summer lasted forever, but with the fall comes school and your parents dragging you out of bed all over again. NO!!!!!!!
