From Box Office Disaster !
To Cult Classic Heathers did not gain much notoriety until its VHS release. The box office sales of Heathers only a little over 1 million. The budget was 2 million. Many studio executives predicted this outcome which is why is was hard for the film to gain funding to even film. No one wanted to direct it, no one wanted to fund it, and eventually no one wanted to watch it, (in theaters that is). But once 90’s came, Heathers found a niche audience to be applauded for. Today, there is discussions about a sequel and TV spinoff series for future development.
