Located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, SLO Wine Country unfolds along the seafront side of the Santa Lucia Mountain Range in San Luis Obispo County. Our vineyards reside in the small and contiguous American Viticultural Areas of the Edna Valley and Arroyo Grande Valley, as well as in neighboring areas such as Avila Valley and Pismo Beach. The pronounced coastal conditions of SLO Wine Country yield wines with intense flavors and natural elegance.
Edna Valley AVA Edna Valley in the heart of SLO Wine Country is California’s coolest winegrowing region, located just 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The northwest to southeast orientation of Edna Valley creates a direct path for cool marine air from the Los Osos /Morro Bay area. This climate, combined with the calcareous and volcanic soils, results in wines with intensity, concentration and fresh, balancing acidity, perfect for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and aromatic white wines.

Arroyo Grande AVA The Arroyo Grande Valley is a predominantly northeastsouthwest oriented coastal valley that is recognized as one of the most temperate viticultural areas in the world. These ideal conditions result in a long, mild growing season that produces wines with concentrated flavors, lively acidity and fine balance. Winegrowing here dates to the 1880s, when Zinfandel was planted in the warmer eastern part of the valley. Today, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and other varieties predominate the hillsides of the western end of the valley, closer to the ocean.

Today, the business is operated by second and third generation family members and has grown to include over 30 different white, red and sparkling wines under five wine brands: Baileyana, Tangent & True Myth being the core brands, plus Zocker and Trenza. All these wines are crafted by renowned Burgundian winemaker Christian Roguenant and are available at our tasting room, located in the historic Independence Schoolhouse, built in 1909.
