COVID-19 response: Virtual graduation ceremony
Video premiere and recognition campaign Over 60 adult learners earned a GED or high school diploma from Metro North Adult Basic Education (ABE) in 2020, however state executive order and health and safety guidance would not allow for graduates, their families and our teachers and staff to celebrate in person. In partnership with the district communications office and Captivate Media, we developed a template for virtual graduation ceremonies across the school district and personalized each version as appropriate. We created a graphical social media campaign with photos and quotes from the graduates posted in advance of the live premiere to generate interest and excitement for the virtual event. The final presentation was set up to premiere live on the Metro North ABE Facebook page, the Anoka-Hennepin Community Education Facebook page, and it was also shared on eight partner school district Facebook pages. In addition, it streamed as a live video on the Metro North ABE website, the Anoka-Hennepin Community Education website and the Anoka-Hennepin Community Education and AnokaHennepin Schools YouTube channel.
