Introduction
My name is Trevor Swanbeck, I am in the sixth
grade and I go to Hebron Academy and my class is making books about polygons and what are not polygons. The shapes I am doing are the right triangle, the rhombus, the hexagon, the rectangle and a shape that is not a polygon. This project will show what make up polygons and facts about the shapes that I am talking about.

The Right Triangle
The right triangle is one of type of
polygon. •The right triangle has one 90 degree angle. •All three angles add up to 180 degrees. •The sides that are perpendicular make up the 90 degree angle. •All triangles have three sides. •In the vertex there is a little square and that means there is 90 degree angle.
Page 2
The Regular Hexagon When you see a hexagon you might think of a honey comb but it is also a polygon. •A regular hexagon has 6 sides •Each side is equal •On a hexagon there are 3 pairs of parallel sides. •The small lines on the sides mean that all the sides are equal •The hexagon has 6 angles that add up to 720 degrees.
Page 3
The Rhombus A rhombus can very much look like a diamond shape. •All sides are have equal lengths. •Opposite sides are parallel. •A rhombus is also a quadrilateral •A rhombus is also a parallelogram. •The opposite angles are equal
Page 4
The Rectangle Rectangles are in a lot of places like tables and stairs. •A rectangle has four sides and four angles. •Each angle is 90 degrees. •The four angles add up to 360 degrees. •The rectangle is a quadrilateral. •The rectangle has two long sides and two short sides.

Not A Polygon
You might think these are polygons but they are not.
3
•Number 1 is not a polygon because it crosses at a place other than the vertex. •Number 2 is not because there is an opening. •Number 3 is not because it has a curve. A polygon can’t have a curve, an opening, and it can’t cross at a place other than a vertex. Page 6
