Siblings

By Lillybeth Randall

Introduction For mY survey I asked students about their siblings. I asked them if they had siblings, if they share a room, how many siblings they have, on a scale of 1-5 how much they like their siblings, and if they wish that they didn’t have any siblings. I wanted to find out if some students had a similar family to mine and if there were more only children than students with siblings. I sent out a survey with twelve questions.

Do You Have Siblings? When I asked this question I thought that there would be more only children, I was surprised to find out that only 4 out of the 77 people that responded to my survey were only children. ● There were only four students that were only children (5.2%) ● Seventy-three students have siblings (94.7%)

Do You Share a Room? I asked students if they share a room with any of their siblings. Sixty nine people (89.5%) out of seventy seven don’t share a room with their siblings and eight people (10.5%) said that they do share a room. ● Sixty-nine people don’t share a room (89.5%) ● Eight people do share a room (10.5)

How Many Siblings Do You Have? In my survey, I asked how many siblings the students have. The results were as I expected ● Four people said none (5.2%) ● One person said other (1.3%) ● Twenty-seven people said one (35.1%) ● Twenty-three people said two (29.9%) ● Thirteen people said three (16.9%) ● Four people said four (5.2%) ● Five people said five (6.5%)

On a Scale of 1-5 How Much Do You Like Your Sibling? I included in my survey a question about how much they like their sibling on a scale of 1-5. One being not at all and five being a lot. ● Three students said one (3.9%) ● Two students said two (2.6%) ● Ten students said three (13%) ● Nineteen students said four (24.7%) ● Thirty-four students said five (44.2%) :D

Do You Wish You Didn’t Have Siblings? I asked people this hoping that they would say no, but I put the choice “sometimes” because siblings can be really annoying at times, but you still love them. ● Sixty-three students said no (82.9%) ● Three students said yes (3.9%) ● Ten students said sometimes (13.2%)

Over the course of this project I learned how to send out surveys, how to use “Google spreadsheets”, the “countif” formula and how to graph my results. I learned that most students at Hebron Academy have siblings and I was glad to hear that most of them love their siblings thankfully! :)
