Alex wa∫ about to fall asleep when he heard a noise: Thump, thump, thump. What wa∫ that? “Pancho! It’∫ you!” he cried. “Tomorrow i∫ my first day of school. They will teach me to read and write there.” “School! Can fl come with you?” Pancho asked. “Of course you can! But make sure to be up bright and early and ready for school.” Pancho ran off thinking about all the thing∫ he needed to take. 3
When Alex woke up he saw Pancho carrying all kind∫ of thing∫. “Where are you going with all that stuff, Pancho?” Pancho wa∫ carrying a canteen, a pair of sock∫, an alarm clock, an umbrella, a scarf and a wheelbarrow. “You told me to be ready!” he answered proudly. “Oh, no, Pancho, we only need a pencil and some paper for school!” 4

Pancho put all the thing∫ down. Happily he put on the school bag Alex had ready for him. “You will also need a pinafore to keep your clothe∫ clean.” 6
Pancho put it on and looked at himself in the mirror. He admired himself from one side first and then from the other. Pancho waâˆŤ a bit conceited! They left for school. Both friendâˆŤ were ready for a new day. 7
