WHAT DID WE DO? WORK + INTERNSHIPS

WORK + COMPETITIONS

JesticoWhiles. Impression: I liked it a lot. // Best part: experience of working in a team, taking part in real projects, first experience of the studio atmosphere, discussions/brainstorming, and the opportunity to learn something new from others.” Olga

“ I Work with Atelier Vukmanov on a bridge over Štvanice island in Holešovice (competition). Atelier Vukmanov is small studio led by Die Angewandte graduate, ex-ARCHIP and UMPRUM teacher Adam Vukmanov in Smíchov (Prague). We worked on bridge design for pedestrians and cyclists.”

“I worked as a freelancer for two different companies. They are both located in the USA. I, however, enjoy only some of it as some of the work can get boring. The most challenging thing is probably to discipline myself, since I’m on my own schedule.” Bachir “I worked closely with Elan Fessler to build a new website for his firm N473 Studio. It was great exploring graphic design more, as well as getting to know web coding better. I think I learned some new work-flows which could be applied to architectural projects, like the quick iterative design approach to prototyping designs before building them in code.” Kasimir JesticoWhiles. “The major difference for me was schedule, which has both positive and negative approaches. The positive: you are there on a specific time, but then you have evenings FREE, no allnighters! You have personal life aside the project. The negative: you are there everyday; and there is no friend who will sign your name. What I learned is not to be scared of anything. There is always google. Even people who are working in office for years ARE USING GOOGLE!” Liza

Additionally, in a cooperation with Archip graduate Alena Zmeškalová and visual designer Matúš Solčány, we worked on an interactive architectural system for city Zlín — competition. Jan

Student’s Voice

New Semester

Changes & Updates! The changing of the seasons and how people and places around us constantly change is part of life for us and the necessity of time. Today, it is the time to take a look at how things at ARCHIP are evolving and why it is so important.

Student Senate + Mentoring It all starts with the elections for the Students Senate whereas all the candidates will have the chance to introduce their promising plans at the Students assembly which will be held on the 6th of October, following its regular meetings every last Friday of the month. To make the transition to Prague easier for all first year and transfer students, the mentoring program was found. You can find a list of members on students.archip.eu along with other useful tips about ARCHIP and Prague. These all serve as an excellent resource for students as they begin navigating their way through college life.

Introducing SLACK The school wants to connect like-minded students through events and activities using Slack channels. The existing clubs such as sports, photography, sketching and travelling have moved to active groups. These groups and their activities are supported by the Student Senate and to be involved you need to join Slack, start chatting and inviting students to your start-up activities. Slack makes it easy, slack is a new fashion.

Show your school spirit! It is of a new fashion to also have a T-shirt and bag design transmitting so the spirit of the school. The Student Senate, in cooperation with ARCHIP and creative students, came up with the new collection of T-shirts and bags designed by the second year student, Guilherme Feitosa. Another design contest will be coming soon as the money is assured respectively from the printing fees and the T-shirt sales.

Student’s voice Throughout the semester, the newspaper team will be asking you to fill out questionnaires regarding class evaluations or any other concerns and they will be discussed in the meetings along with the office and professors. This ARCHIPTalks will keep you updated every last Tuesday of the month with a newprinted release and also on our new web-site: talks. archip.eu. Have your voice heard in the newspaper!
