INSPIRATION

My inspiration for this project was waves and breeze on sea. I love spending my time on sea side whenever I get a chance. My feelings to sit there and spend my entire day on the beach inspired me to work on this project taking AQUA AND BREEZE as my inspiration. The waves of the sea help me get back to me. This dress is made from cotton fabric blended with rayon (blue fabric). It is made with combination of net (pink) with pintucks on it. I made this dress with variations in basic bodice.(inspiration-sea) 1-Full circle skirt which gives proper fall and waves to the skirt. 2-Top which is half divded with pintucks in net which gives breezy feels. 3-Pearls that indicate direct to sea. 10

INSPIRATION A window according to me is a spiritual entrance through which one’s soul can travel. A window is portal allowing one’s thoughts to roam around freely.

A window creates boundaries as your soul can only travel as far as your eyes can see.

As giving my project name PRETTY POISON as the window gives you pretty views of outside world yet sets some boundaries for everyone.

THIS IS A RED BELLIED BLACK SNAKE. IT HAS GLOSSY BLACK UPPER PARTS, BRIGHT RED OR GOLDEN OR ORANGE BELLY. IT IS NOT AN AGGRESSIVE SPECIES AND GENERALLY RETREATS FROM ENCOUNTERS WITH PEOPLE BUT CAN ATTACK IF PROVOKED. THE NUMBER AND ARRANGEMENT OF SCALES ON A SNAKE’S BODY ARE KEY ELEMENT OF ITS IDENTIFICATION.

Fashion draping is an important part of fashion design. This drapes are achieved through tieing, knotting, folds secured at one place. This drapes are inspired from Egyptian, Roman, Indus valley civilisation. The fabric used for draping is Lycra in white colour as it gives very falls while draping. A garment can be draped using a design sketch as a basis, or a fashion designer can play with the way fabric falls to create new designs at the start of the apparel design process. When draping a garment, the designer can immediately see what her apparel design will look like on the body.

The corset has been an important article of clothing for several centuries in Europe, evolving as fashiontrends have changed. Women as well as some man have used it to change the apperance of their bodies. The English word corset is derived from the Old French word corps and the diminutive of body, which itself derives from corpus. Latin for body. The term corset was in use in the late 14th century from the French ‘corset’ which meant “a kind of laced bodice”.

STEPS: - First the styling tape of red colour is used to mark all the seams of corsets to be attached with pads placed on the dressform. - Then muslin (fabric) is used to drape where styling tape goes and traced out pattern out of it. - In third picture from left is the corset’s first layer on the dressform to check everything is in place. - At end the final fabric was cut and stitched with boning.

The meaning of corset during late 14th century was “a stiff supporting and constricting undergarment for the waist, worn chiefly by women to shape the figure.”The term “stays” was frequently used in english circa 1600 until the early twentieth century.Later on in the 20th century women started wearing corsets outside as garment made of fancy fabrics and embellished. Women started pairing with some skirt, jeans, lehengas.
