What makes a Heesen so distinctive? Custom-built in Holland, it is not just a matter of style but more importantly, the contemporary application of engineering: the architecture of performance. Our concept has evolved over 30 years and the experience we have accrued is unlike that of any other yacht builder in the world. Building in aluminium to enormously demanding tolerances, the Heesen hull-form is unique – quite simply no other ship shape so optimises the way a yacht moves through water. Meticulous attention to weight reduction results in increased levels of luxury. A Heesen is a Heesen because we are dedicated to one principle: the performance of luxury.
Quinta Essentia – the ancient Greek magical mystical fifth element. At 55 metres this highly impressive yacht, the largest yet built by Heesen, presents so many breakthroughs in both aesthetic and technical terms. She looks unconventional and challenges the notion “why” with the answer, “why not?”
uinta Essentia’s vital statistics are staggering. Nearly 800 gross tonnes of internal volume powered along at 24 knots. A highly efficient hull and 147.000 litre fuel tanks result in a range of over 4.500 nautical miles.
Working for an Owner who has consistently built at Heesen and demands the most challenging concepts, flawlessly built, has resulted in some extremely accomplished shipbuilding.
For example, the metallic red paintwork is specially formulated in honour of the Owner’s Montemaggio Merlot vineyard, while the radical ‘eye’ concept in the master suite includes not only full-height windows but also technically challenging glass bulwarks to create panoramic infinity views. At Heesen, necessity is the mother of invention.
ne of the most technically diďŹƒcult feats was the construction of the 7.000 litre main deck Jacuzzi pool. Pressurised water falls through 3.000 one-millimetre holes drilled into a 3 metre length of polished stainless steel embedded into the deckhead. A ballast tank in the tender garage maintains the water at the required level regardless of how many guests are in the pool. Such is the pressure of the falling water that it can be used as a screen for projecting ďŹ lms.
Yet another tour-de-force engineering feature was the demand for a wet dock to house the 25 foot limousine tender. The concept allows guests to simply walk aboard the tender without the tricky manoeuvres required when embarking from the swimming platform. Such a complex feature is all the more remarkable on a 55 metre yacht.
GYM
he entire sun deck is dedicated to health and beauty and includes a fully-equipped Technogym, sauna, steam room and professional treatment salon. Guests can relax between sessions in a circular television lounge with spectacular views and sea-grass panelling. On deck there is a second Jacuzzi, sunbathing areas and a large dining terrace.

The sky lounge is shaped like a figure of eight with two intersecting circular saloons surrounded by curved full-height windows that open out to side balconies and the aft deck. Heesen expertise and dedication to weight reduction mean that this amount of glass in no way compromises performance. The complex installation of a baby grand piano and fireplace in the forward television lounge were just two examples of Heesen’s ability to work with the most challenging briefs.
he dining saloon was positioned within the second circular area of the upper deck. The entire main deck was then dedicated to a massive open-plan lounge. Our in-house craftsmen worked closely with the designer and specialists from Sinnex to achieve two objectives: exceptional style, flawless build quality.
Pearlised panelling required over twenty layers of lacquer sprayed and hand rubbed to produce the desired effect. The degree of installation difficulty was increased by the design requiring extremely fragile macassar ceiling bands that continue down the full height of the wall.
ustom-engineered Ad Notam black mirror plasma screens were seamlessly ďŹ tted within macassar cabinets. As with all such highly reective surfaces only perfect construction standards eliminate distortions.
Twelve guests sleep in six cabins including a master suite of almost 100 square metres on the main deck. The scope of the master suite is staggering. Set within a concave cocoon of glass, the bedroom opens out on both sides to a full-length private balcony. A ceiling height of over 2 metres emphasises the size of the suite. Walk-in wardrobes, an additional double cabin and a private office create the atmosphere of an entire apartment dedicated to the Owner.
n the ensuite bathroom – contemporary technology has been fitted within period design style. The one-piece black stone bath is mounted on a white onyx oor. Edging the lacquered wood cabinets is black marble detailing and the mirror is inset with an immaculately bonded silver leaf frame. Guests have individual customised control pads for operating the entire entertainment system: blinds, lighting and even crew communications.
GUEST VIP CABIN
uest suites have the same level of luxury and detailing as is evident in the rest of the yacht. Superbly planned, the convetible, full-beam VIP, double and twin cabins on the lower deck open directly onto a central lift lobby therefore maximising the size of each cabin.
Beds and furniture are all set on plinths giving the impression that they are floating. The less the furniture sits on the floor, the greater the atmosphere of light and space. It is preferable but more difficult to build cabins this way – that is why it is a Heesen.
The bridge is equipped with a touch sensitive optical glass console. Balancing weight, power and performance, MTU V20 engines were installed. Because we believe that the quality of crew areas directly affects their efficiency, Quinta Essentia has been built to exceed the latest MCA regulations for crew accommodation.

n 30 years we have delivered over 150 yachts. Our current range of yachts includes aluminium and steel, displacement, semi-displacement and fast displacement hulls from 37-65 metres and beyond. Heesen is recognised as the world leader in aluminium yachts and our 65 metre fast displacement project is 30 per cent more efficient than any other yacht of this size.

Heesen moved into steel production in 2000 as a result of a specific client request. Indeed 50 per cent of our sales are to existing clients, progressing through options of length, construction material and hull dynamics.
