Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..., commonly known as e Purple Tape, is a concept album that chronicles the tale of two gangsters who are a part of a made-up crime syndicate called the “Wu-Gambinos.” e gangsters are portrayed by Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. e record is famous for its vivid visuals, dramatic narrative, and sophisticated language. e album’s smash single, “Ice Cream,” has an unforgettable melody by Method Man, a beautiful R&B sample, and verses by Ghostface Killah and Cappadonna. Raekwon’s position as one of the key gures in the Wu-Tang Clan was further cemented by the song’s commercial success. Another outstanding tune is “Verbal Intercourse,” which has a guest verse from Nas and a soulful sample that goes well with the song’s re ective lyrics.
