PROJECT PATTERN

THE CONCEPT:

At the start of the planning process, I had two ideas: Anime eyes and Foodimals, the animals from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. Both involved heavy illustration, but I ended up choosing anime eyes because I realized I, for the life of me, could not draw eyes. And what better way to learn than to draw 100 eyes from some of the best animation studios in the world? This project became a huge source of joy and stress for me as the semester continued. I loved getting to watch anime as a part of my homework, but I also chose an activity that required a couple hours to complete, rather than the recommended 20-40 minutes. Nevertheless, I saw my illustration skills steadily improve. I got faster and more accurate with every eye, and I developed a good workflow that I continue to use in my other illustrations. I also achieved my goal of using my newfound knowledge to create original eyes.
