Professional athletes embracing fashion is not a modern concept. Sports and fashion have been influentially parallel to one another for decades. Over time, style has consistently presented its relevance within sports allowing otherwise uniformed team members to express their individuality in unique and creative ways.

The players entries into arenas and stadiums gives onlookers the feel of a pregame runway, as they showcase their own personal styles donning custom shoes and jewelry, athletic accessories, illustrative tattoos, and trendsetting hairstyles. With the expansion of fashion and heightened exposure through social media, athletes have a colossal platform that propels their opportunities to inspire the masses. Children and adults alike want to emulate the fashion they see their favorite athletes display. Amongst the “inspirationally donned” is Dallas Cowboys star DeMarcus Lawrence. Lawrence, a native of South Carolina, is known for his love of vibrant colors. He usually sports Nike sweats and tees, dreadlocks, and a signature gold chain which is a personal reminder that nothing can hold him back. Lawrence’s personal style is not only trendsetting, but is also an expression of personal growth, self-discovery, wisdom, and affirmation. As time shifts, so does he. He attributes the evolution of his personal style to his lovely wife, Sasha, who has influenced him to indulge in iconic fashion brands such as Gucci and Chanel.

evident that Lawrence’s reach extends far beyond the confines of a football field. He gives honor to his mentors for their consistent encouragement, stern guidance, and precise instruction. Lawrence took their guidance to heart and it has placed him into a continual cycle of “becoming”.

With the uncertainties of the NFL season underway, Lawrence strives to maintain productivity by participating in family ventures, volunteering within the community, and exploring foreign language acquisition.
