projec t de scriptio n Designed in an atypical envirolmental, a mangrove area, this project, a technical school integrated with a reasearch center, has the intention to, first of all, preserve and reconstitute this fragile biome. Thus, the three buildings are located far from the river where the natural vegetation is meant to be revitalized. The FAPESE Library is one of these buildings, located separate from the others in a special place, and it is the subject of the following pages.
LIBRARY SITE PLAN
The building was designed to be integrated with the site’s nature. For that, the two blocks got a big glass wall that provides people inside a sensation of being close to the forest outside. These walls also provide an indirect illumination inside the building all day long.
MEZZANINE
FLOOR PLAN front view
To reinforce the nature’s contact, a tall tree is making the sunlight block to the recption area, which has a ceiling glass. On the coverage, the library got a green roof, a sustainable option that matches the main idea of an environmental friendly project.

projec t de scriptio n The course aims to develop students’ basic skills in 3D modeling, basic fabrication and graphic editing using a combination of software to facilitate the aggregation of one’s work toward a synthetic workflow, as SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. The chosen building to be studied and analyzed was the Fondation Beyeler, a Renzo Piano’s museum located in Switzerland.
The urban context, the facades and exterior places, and the interior perceptions were explored and represented on strategic scenes that better show these building characteristics.

Physical and Digital Models were required to represent structure details in a section. The roof is an important element of the building, thoroughly designed to provide an indirect and homogeneous lighting inside the building.

SIDEWALKS QUALITY
Based on the graphs, is notable that there are a lot of sidewalks classified with a walkability index Bad (0.25) or Very Bad (0) in general. It is noteworthy that the issue of urban mobility, with solutions based on alternative measures has not been a priority in the city. These four districts located in different regions reflect the situation experienced in other areas that also suffer the neglect of public management. Opt for flexible traffic infrastructure solutions, like sidewalks in a good quality, is an alternative that should be adopted and encouraged, providing to the citizen a new modal to get around the city in a practical, sustainable and free way.

research descript io n With the lack of priority to pedestrian in the cities nowadays, and the low incentive of using public footpaths, the research in question aims to analyze how the physical conditions of the sidewalks influence on whether or not the citizens use of the public footpaths. Four neighborhoods of Aracaju were chosen as the object of study: Luzia, Siqueira Campos, Coroa do Meio e Jardins. After the data were collected, they were tabulated and standardized, thus, it was possible to develop a walkability index to classify a general sidewalks assessed on a scale ranging from 0; 0.25; 0.5; 0.75 and 1 (where 0 represents a sidewalk in very bad conditions, and 1 in excellent condition).
