a world wide web manifesto for 4V the brief Instead of grafting some tale in 4V, we rather decided to let 4V tell us its own story. However, it’s a hard-to-understand story from the observer point of view, since we faced an almost impenetrable barrier formed by old fashioned facades which separates us from the airspace and the Airfield’s activity. In 2k17, the first impression you get from any place is purely virtual, through the internet and all the information it provides, making you create your own imaginary about the space you are about to experiment physically. In fact, nowadays, if something is not on the internet, it does not exist at all. However, 4V doesn’t have a proper and exclusive website, but a sub-page inside AENA’s site, with just a bit of information regarding the usage of the Airfield as an Airport, which is definitely only a small portion of all the activity of 4V. This lack of visual and informational accessibility leads to the necessity of the creation of a new and real website for 4V, a website that reflects its old fashioned, mysterious, complicated, lo-fi appearance. This action has been brought to the reality of the virtual through the influence of the net.art, where the works of jodi.org and Eva and Franco Mattes (0100101110101101.org) play an essential role; anti-design, with the obvious influence of Superstudio; and brutalist websites, which even with the net.art aesthetics, are still useful. The result is an outdated site, hard to understand and navigate, in low definition, depicting 4V as it is seen by a bystander who visits it for the first or second time, linking the virtuality and the materiality of a place that seems to be apart from the passage of time, and doesn’t want to be disturbed.
