Quick guide Hot Potatoes on Moodle

Page 1

Quick guide to adding Hot Potatoe Activities to Moodle Let's get organised ! In your Moodle files create a file for your Hot Potatoe activities. For example I've called mine HotPot.

Prepare your Hot Potatoe Activity on your computer. Save the Hot Potatoe file and the ÂŤ .htm Âť file in the same folder on your hard drive. It's a good idea to give your files and folders clear names. When you have a lot of files this will avoid confusion.

Right click this new folder and compress it to make a .zip folder (PC users). Drop this .zip folder into the « files » area of your Moodle course.

Now select « unzip » the folder.

Wonderful ! Your folder will keep the same name. You can delete the .zip folder later.

Now back to your course. Select : Add an activity in the bottom right menu. Select the Hot Potatoe module in the menu.

You will be asked to choose the hot potatoe file in your file section.

You will now choose the file you need for the activity. It may seem a little confusing at first – but the choice is made by ticking the box on the left and clicking on the word itself on the right.

Confirm your choice and check out your new activity online.

Hope this helps ! Apologies for the French on my photos – I'm still struggling to get my IT4ALL into English ! There is obviously a lot more to Hot Potatoes on Moodle than this – but my aim is just to get started. The finer details and general « tweaking » will be learnt later !
