Helen Spencer

Helen Elizabeth Spencer originally graduated from BA Womenswear at the London College of Fashion. Her graduate collection was heavily textile-based and centred around creating timeless investment pieces the wearer will keep in their wardrobe for years. Spencer went on to complete an MA in Fashion Cultures at London College of Fashion (2014) and undertook the initial stages of a PhD at Central Saint Martins, before converting the research into an exhibition proposal (Gate Keepers of Fashion: Arbiters of Taste Sep 2017-ongoing). Spencer now works as an industry-minded and innovative Critical Thinker and Fashion Curator. She works as a Lecturer at London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins, teaching Cultural Studies and Fashion History & Theory. Alongside her academic career, she has established a curatorial publishing platform and creative agency Adventures in Apparel (www.adventuresinapparel.com).
