a message from our president! Hi everyone! I just wanted to say I'm VERY excited for these coming next months! This past month was filled with many different projects and I was happy to see people engaged. As a club that's still coming together, it really means a lot to me to see people taking interest. With the coming of December, I'm beginning to really see this club grow. I know that Verdugo Hills Key Club's 2013-2014 term will be even better than last year's term. I hope to see even more of you work hard and volunteer your time for more upcoming projects and fundraisers. Don't forget the possibility of winning one of THREE AMC Golden Experience movie tickets for accumulating the most hours by February! And if you weren't one of the three that won a movie ticket, there's still the free sweater, which will be given out by the end of March. Now that dues have been submitted, we now officially have 45 members! I'm very excited to serve you all! My hope is to show you all what makes Key Club unique. After Fall Rally, I became inspired to work even harder for this club. Seeing so many spirited Key Clubbers, all having such immense passion to serve their communities, really rubbed off on me, and it has made me pumped up for the rest of this Key Club term! I really look forward to an awesome rest of the year with all of you! You all are absolutely GOLDEN!

SRLA Friendship Run! On Feburary 2nd, Verdugo Key Clubbers got their butts up early in the COLD morning to voluteer in the SRLA Friendship Run in Pacoima! This event was so great because it really showed off our teamwork skills in working together with filling the little cups of water! They looked pretty cool all lined up. I wanted to thank the volunteers that came to this event because we all know how we like spending Sundays on Netflix (Maybe just me). This was one of the best events of the year in my book. It was nice being together sharing laughs and just helping. I think everyone got pretty excited seeing the runners finally coming to our water station. Some of us really wanted the runners to take our water lol. But anyways! I'm so happy to be a part of this great event! Key club really is the heart of service! :)

ARE YOU A SENIOR?! Listen up Seniors! We're graduating in a few months and what would make you look better than walking down the stage with a blue key club sash? Nothing really. Complete 20 hours of service and you'll be eligible for the sash in the picture on your right. Our president has made it possible to make it so we won't even have to pay a fee for it! Trading in 20 hours for this thing? I bet you're asking yourself why you haven't gone to every event. Yeah, that's my question for myself right now. JUNIORS! Don't miss your oppurtunity to earn this sash for next year. Start earning your hours now! You could be the next Key Clubber to walk down the stage with this!

I'm going to look pretty stylish with this. Are you? Page Five

SALVATION ARMY! The Rice and Beans Packing event was taken place on Feburary 22nd! Let's all give a round of applause to our president Thaniel Directo for coming to this event along with other Key Clubbers from our division! He helped the Salvation Army in helping packing rice and beans for the homeless. This was pretty cool and I totally thought this was a great idea! Key Club really is the club that goes beyond in helping others!

Officer of the Month

Helen Ha

It’s not easy to enjoy some service and take pictures at the same time! But that doesn’t stop Helen from doing her part as our lovely bulletin editor! This is a perfect reason to dedicate her as officer of the month of February. She is such a great part of the board with wonderful contributions such as making sure the newsletter comes out every week and making sure enough photos are being taken without being too involved in the events herself. Phew~ she must work up a sweat! She is always greatly appreciated for her wonderful optimism and smiles whenever she attends a meeting for the general and the board. She is a wonderful role model for the others to look out for and is always willing to lend a hand. Such as the event of passing out drinks for the athletes in the Friendship Run. Taking time off, rising early, helping out athletes, and taking pictures? Woah! We couldn’t have been more happier with such a dedicated bulletin editor. It’s wonderful to see her bloom and have such wonderful contributions and dedications to the club! We hope for your smile and optimism in the future as always! Thanks you and once again congratulations, Helen~! Yay~!

Member of the Month

February is the month of readying seniors to prepare for the impact of the acceptance and rejection letters, but Elvis has no time to put his anxiety over his contributions towards the club! Throughout the months, he has been coming out to all of the meetings and supporting the club with anything he can contribute to! And this is the exact reason why he was chosen as the member of the month for February. So, congratulations! Your dedication is greatly valued and appreciated! Elvis has contributed to the February event of the Friendship Run as he passed out waters to the busy running athletes. Despite having a stoic appearance, he shows his funs sides towards the club with some laughs and tremendous amounts of support; especially towards our bulletin editor. */winkwink Anywho~ we are so lucky to have Elvis a part of our club through his contributions and support for the club! It’s always great to see determinations for the club, even in secrecy! Thank you for always being there and we wish you luck in the future! Once again, congratulations to our member of the month, Elvis!
