3.1/ LIGHTING DESIGN OF THE BRIDGE

Elena Khasainova

Philips 2013 Astana, Kazakhstan Lighting designer Developing lighting design: consept devlopment, lighitng calculation The light design under the bridge plays with different logics. It reveals the structure of the bridge at night, while the water reflects the light and gives a feedback of the surrounding. On top of the bridge I added a light design inside the ornamental spheres which, together with the ornaments in the railing, creates a mysterious feeling. 3.2 / LIGHTING COMPETITION

Employer: Date: Location: Personal role in Team: Type:

Philips Lighting 2013 Moscow, Russia Lighting designer Competition of the illuminator

Elena Khasainova

With the new Illuminator

Problem statement: According to the Union of pedestrians, one of the main causes of accidents on the roads is poor visibility of the signs, markings, such as zebra’s, and people in the dark due to lack of additional lighting in these transition zones. Idea: The creation of additional lighting in the area of a pedestrian crossing. This is achieved by the increased brightness and brilliance; furthermore we increased the contrast of the crosswalk with the surrounding space. We use the signal lighting as a reference point to attract the attention of the drivers. The drivers are informed of the crossing pedestrians at proximity of 40 meters by switching on the LED lights. This is done using motion sensors. We calculated the lux needed to crate this contrast in different situations.

Elena Khasainova

Robotic class

The interior design for the school of technique and robotics in Kvantorium. The design uses metal panels on the wall and ceiling with LED in between. The Delaunay triangulation refers to math and the panels themselves could be digitally produced by the robots. The white walls symbolise the old while the new panels refer to the future taking over. The orange painted walls, columns and cupboards symbolise the creativity within the school. All view

Intrance to the metro station

The metro station competition calls for new visions of the metro spaces in Moscow. The future business area around Terehovo station is the main user of the station. Orientation of where the user is, is the main design goal. Firstly to orient inside the station there is a red side and a black side. These refer respectively to the north and the south direction. Secondly, the triangulated pattern on the walls form the 7 hills on which Moscow is build. Plane -1 with a vestibule

Main entracne to the kindergarden

The kindergarten will be built, and is part of a new developed living area for 4.500 people in Himki. The building has a capacity for 220 children. The challenge of the design is to build on the tight triangulated plot while providing the standards and rules of the kindergarten. The playful ornaments on the façade are generated with Processing.

3.9 / MUSIC HALL

Elena Khasainova

Employer: JSC «KBJ RC» Date: 2014 Location: Moscow, Russia Personal role in Team: Project architect Type: Architecutral projects One of the old factories in the first ring around the Moscow city centre is transformed into a music hall, with a capacity of 8.000 people. The design is expected to have a high amount of visitors due to its location near the ring. This is emphasised by the public character of the site. The concert hall is not only a building; it is an urban meeting place. The box of the hall is raised so the public street can continue underneath it with shops. According to the requirements of the client, we add suspended parts (the red parts) containing a hotel and parking. To absorb the existing language of the surrounding city near the highway, the whole façade consists out of perforated metal sheets. The hole pattern becomes with LED’s a media façade.

The design of the mall is not clear during this phase, which means we had to design with a high degree of adaptability in the Garage. In terms of heat sharing, fire-safety, toilets etc
