A building is a story told over time, enriched by the people who use it, woven into a fabric of time and space. A testament. A narrative.....
I was born in Torrance, CA on April 5 1988. I grew up in the Westlake neighborhood and was raised by my Grandmother and mother along with my two older sisters. I was brought up with my Peruvian side culture and was lucky enough to experience it to the fullest and live in Peru for one year and six month. A little piece of my mom’s country taught me many important values in life, From learning to speak Spanish fluently to other life values. Turning negativity to positive actions was one thing I learned growing up, I was also taught to always give back even if it is the last thing you own because at the end of it all you gain more than what you give. At a young age I experienced hard times financially and also witnessed families with many struggles, they became my inspiration and one of many reason why I choose Architecture as a career. The love of helping others was the reason I founded Architecture Student Humane Foundation (ASHF)along with an important person in my life. Working together with other Non-profit organization such as Watt House Project kept me inspired and focused on what our goals were, mainly reaching out to our community. I attended East Los Angeles College to start my new path in Architecture. While my new journey in College, Ms. Patricia Combes-Brighton gave me the opportunity to start the USGBC Chapter and became President for two years consecutive. My goal as a president was to make students realize the importance of technology, becoming green in the industry and becoming LEED certified, still structured to reach out to the community, organizing events and seminars.. My biggest dream and aspiration is to finish my studies and soon after build ASHF into bigger projects, and focus on affordable housing for families in need while building stronger communities.

THE FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLEBEE Design can be generated from many things. In this case this project uses an excerpt from Rimsky Korsakov to create space and form. the physical chateristics of music, such as pitch, time , and loundness, are first converted into blocks. These blocks are then combined together, shifted, and rotated. It is interesting to notice how the rhythm and pitch influences the final form.

Project Brief The design contemplates the metaphor of Los Angeles being a harmonious collision of cultures that is taken into form as colliding planes and colliding structures. It is enviromentally conscious using a green harvesting wall in the south side as air , light and heat filter. the building uses passive technologies for its cooling and heating systems as well as sophisticated HVAC systems using solar radiation as energy. this project is intended to be a signature of Los Angeles, for the world to live in.

Design Approach Architecturally, the studio responds to the sites’s boundries, by maximizing the use of space. The building masses wrap around the center of the site to controlthe noise from surrounding areas, and to create a courtyard that will serve for social spaces, such as an eating area for the cafe or other functions. Consisting of a variety of spaces, KeLA creates an enviroment that gives life to the outdoor spaces.
