We went to SOM Chicago several times during summer and made 3 presentations to SOM partner Brian Lee and other technical leaders, and got instructed by them. We designed several housing prototype throughout this experience.

Rhythm of the Woods Renovation of an ancestral temple Undergraduate Degree Project Individual Work 2014 Spring Professor: Tong Zhang
A Temple in a Forgotten Village Ancestral Temple of Xi is the only temple building which is now survived in Ji village. I wish to transform this abandoned temple to a museum exhibiting the crafts of bamboos, in an attempt to attract visitors from the main street into the village.
This temple is in the middle of Village Ji, right beside Hongcun, a world's well know tourism resort and culture heritage. If Temple Xi could be transformed into a attraction, Village Ji can benefit a lot from it. Bamboo craftsmanship is a great heritage in this area. I wish to absorb the essence of vernacular architecture of this area and apply it to the museum. The main idea is to introduce natural light in a subtle and smart way to exhibit bamboo carvings and carving craftsmanship as well.

Renovation Strategy Learnig from acient Hui residence, this design introduce natural light in a subtle and elegant way to exhibit bamboo carvings and carving craftsmanship as well. The light tubes ranging from 800mmx800mm to 1000mmx1000mm are fixed to the intersection of two beams. And the smaller light tube (300x300,which light reflection material inside) could be fasten on the flange of only one beam.

Resilent Home Race To Zero Competition Group Work 2015 Teammate :Liao He ,Kun Cheng,Yi Ding, Zifan Wang Professor:Hongxi Yin WUSTL Resilient Home is a collaborative project that aims for renewing the construction and design principles of typical St. Louis residential neighborhood. The overarching goal is to create a high-performance, zero-energy, affordable and resilient house using advanced precast concrete technology and high performance building systems, while achieving the architectural aesthetics. As the lead designer, I made a lot of contribution to the conceptual idea, plan and construction document as well. I was also one of the two presenters representing architecture department to make the presentation in NREL.

Constructablity Resilient Home is built with advanced material and technology. The whole building is mostly built by concrete to realize great thermal, acoustic, and moisture control. It is prefabricated into pre-designed panels and assembled on site. All mechanical elements are also pre-designed and built into panels in the factory. It will only take a few experienced constructors and one day to assemble the whole building. The axono-explosion diagram shows the panelization scheme of the walls, floors and roof.

Ground Plan
This project is a high rise building mixed with commercial and office located in Nanjing besides Yangzi River. I came up with an accompanying concept called Rise-in-a-spiral: an opening absorbs pedestrians coming from the west main street, and then the circulation gradually rises inside, finally reaching sightseeing platforms at the structure’s peak. This approach not only blurs the boundary between ”floors”, thereby increasing commercial value, but also capitalizes on the park’s beauty without disturbing its layout. This project therefore captured a looming high-rise as an extension of a high-quality city square.

Landscape Swap Type:Academic WorkIndividual Work 2015 Spring Professor: Jesse Volgler
The MRGCD(Middle Rio Grande Conservative District) boundary--- which comes physically as levees, drains, fences etc., and legally as the easement of MRGCD--has set a fine line between human community and riverside bosque for nearly a century. It is like a besieged city, what's inside wants to flee out, and what's outside wants to sneak in.
Ebb and Flow Rise and fall of the water level is the periodic phenomenon that featured the landscape around this whole middle Rio Grand district. With subtle change of the elevation, this seasonal difference can be reflected in the whole landscape from the river all the way to the city, thus creating an unique experience and intimacy to nature.
