KEY FEATURES

“R PERFORMANCE

Starting with a base package offering superb manoeuvrability and precise handling over a wide range of riding situations that encompasses city streets, the highway and in the twisties, the Z750R adds high-grade suspension and brake components for even higher-level street riding performance. To deliver the high level of sports performance demanded by experienced riders, light handling was pursued. Settings and tyre selection result in a package that feels lighter than either the Z1000 or Z750.

High-grade Suspension * 41 mm inverted front fork from the 07-09MY Z1000 delivers brilliant steering performance. Smooth action in the top half of the stroke is complemented by firmer damping in the bottom half. This gives the feeling of a long-stroke suspension initially, followed by a solid, planted feel in corners.

* Both sides of the front fork now feature rebound damping adjustability, enabling more precise settings. (Preload adjustability for both tubes available as before.)

KEY FEATURES * At the rear, the Bottom-link Uni-Trak rear suspension features a nitrogen gas-charged shock with piggyback reservoir. The rear suspension settings complement those of the front fork: uspension action is excellent, offering exceptional road holding. The increased cooling performance from the addition of the piggyback reservoir enables harder riding. * Rear suspension tie-rod pitch revised (174 mm >> 172 mm) to suit the new swingarm. The change contributes to improved shock action: initial action is smoother followed by a softened damping feeling, enabling better absorption of large bumps.

* While both the Z750 and Z750R offer a balance of ride quality and handling, sportier front and rear suspension settings give the Z750R a handling character distinct from that of the Z750. At low speeds and in town, the Z750R has a very neutral steering character. In the hills, the stiffer settings give the Z750R light, nimble handling – a quality experienced riders will appreciate when sport riding.

High-grade Brakes * Radial-mount, opposed 4-piston front calipers gripping thicker (t4.5 mm >> t6 mm) 300 mm petal discs deliver increased braking performance and enhanced feel.

KEY FEATURES * Radial-pump front brake master cylinder also contributes to the superb control and feel offered by the new calipers.

* Steel-braided lines offering more direct feel complete the front brake package.

* Overall, the higher-grade front brake package offers a firmer brake feel with a stronger initial bite – ideally suited to sport riding. * A steel-braided line is also used for the rear brake. The pin-slide rear caliper uses a smaller-diameter piston (14 mm >> 12.7 mm) to compensate for the more direct application of the brake fluid offered by the steel-braided line. Revised brake pads with a wider range of effectiveness offer greater rear brake control. Rear disc size is 250 mm. * For added braking reassurance, ABS models are available in certain markets. ABS models are also equipped with steel-braided lines and use an ABS unit with more advanced settings for increased stopping performance and better feedback when operating.

High-grade Front Wheel

KEY FEATURES

“R” STYLING

To those who know, the top-class brake and suspension components are already subtle hints of the Z750R’s enhanced performance. For the rest, a more overt display comes care of a sharper styling package that includes a new front cowl design and luxurious two-tone colouring.

Bodywork * New front cowl is a multi-piece construction. The sharper, more aggressive multi-facet design reflects the R-model’s sportier nature.

* Smoked windscreen-style instrument cover contributes to the sharper image and further distinguishes the Z750R from the Z750. * Fuel tank’s luxurious two-tone paint is complemented by gold pin-striping.

* Engine shrouds finished in black help give the Z750R a light, agile appearance.

KEY FEATURES * Three-piece front fender features side portions finished in black, further contributing to the light image.

* Compact front and rear turn signals add to the Z750R’s sharp looks.

Swingarm * Pressed aluminium swingarm replaces the steel square-tube piece of the Z750. The new swingarm is lighter and contributes to the Z750R’s higher-grade appearance. The sculpted design is based on that of the 07-09MY Z1000, featuring the same left side, but a newly designed right side to be able to better accommodate the 180 mm rear tyre used by the Z750R.

Suspension * Front fork outer tubes and rear shock body and reservoir feature a gold finish, reflecting their higher-grade performance.

KEY FEATURES

Instrumentation * Sporty instrumentation gives at-a-glance information to the rider. Black-backed analogue-style tachometer is complemented by an orange LCD display with digital speedometer, odometer, trip meter, water temp, fuel gauge, clock, etc.

Other Details * Short, supersport-style handlebar grips contribute to the Z750R’s higher-performance image. The grips are positioned 7 mm further out, offering greater control. * Strategic use of black on the engine cases and covers, as well as the silencer helps to give the Z750R a lighter appearance. * Sporty Dunlop 210 tyres add to the Z750R’s handling as well as its appearance. * Supersport-style aluminium die-cast footpegs add to the sporty appearance. Knurled finish offers excellent grip when sport riding and the lack of rubber coating offers riders more direct feel.

* Z1000-style chain guard matches the design of the new swingarm.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

SMOOTH, EFFORTLESS POWER, RIGHT ’ROUND THE DIAL

Whether in town, in the hills or on the highway, what makes a performance naked truly excel in real-world street riding situations is powerful acceleration and passing power, and heaps of gutsy low- and mid-range torque. Like the Z750, the Z750R delivers. Impressive high-rpm performance is complemented by a strong low-mid range. A flat, linear power curve offers a quick-revving engine character with satisfying grunt, while crisp throttle response across the rpm range ensures seamless access to high-rpm exhilaration.

Engine * Responsive liquid-cooled engine with efficient 4-valve, DOHC cylinder head displaces 748 cm3 from a bore and stroke of 68.4 x 50.9 mm. * Fuel injection system is managed by a high-precision ECU. Ultra-fine injectors and 32 mm throttle bodies with oval sub-throttles offer ultra-smooth response across the rev-range. * Cam profiles optimise low-mid range performance. * Intake and exhaust porting further contributes to low-mid range performance. * Meaty crank webs contribute to the satisfying mid-range power feeling. * 4-into-1 stainless-steel exhaust system mates to a short-style silencer with tri-ovular cross-section. Header pipes #1 and #4, and #2 and #3 are joined to give smooth throttle response at all rpm.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES * Silencer features a unitised exhaust device added just upstream of the silencer entrance to help “tune” back-pressure waves for enhanced response in the low-mid range. * Smooth-shifting 6-speed transmission has a gear for every situation, from low-speed city traffic to high-speed highway use.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

HIGHLY COMMUNICATIVE CHASSIS Designed to deliver riding exhilaration on city streets, winding roads, and highways, the chassis delivers excellent rider feedback and brilliant cornering performance, all with a high level of stability. Like the engine, chassis tuning reflects a target of real-world riding superiority. Riders are offered a supreme feeling of confidence and a more conscious understanding of the bike’s performance for a more gratifying riding experience.

Frame * Chassis geometry results in a package with nimble, responsive handling characteristics, together with a very stable feel. * Use of a cast aluminium engine sub-frame allows the front engine mounts to be positioned behind the cylinder, close to the engine’s centre of gravity. This reduces engine vibration transmitted to the rider (particularly at the handlebars), greatly contributing to ride quality. * Through the use of a combination of rigid and rubber mounts, chassis tuning delivers a very planted feel and a high level of feedback. The result is a superb level of control: the rider is better able to understand what the bike is doing.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

FINE-TUNED MAN-MACHINE INTERFACE Whether in town, in the twisties or on the highway, the Z750R’s riding position contributes to superb machine control and offers an excellent ride quality.

Ergonomics * The fine-tuned relationship between pegs, seat and handlebars was designed to enhance communication between rider and machine, giving the rider a confidence-inspiring feeling of control that perfectly complements its accurate and precise handling qualities. * Narrow fuel tank shape makes it easy for riders to grip the bike with their knees. * Riding position is also narrow between the feet, further facilitating control. * The overall position is spacious and relaxed, helping to reduce fatigue on long highway rides, and upright enough to facilitate seeing ahead in urban riding situations. * The slim overall design and a natural riding position also make it easier for riders to reach the ground with their feet.
