Get Ready For Summer

Take a side road off from the main route between Carew and Haverfordwest to find the rural location of Loveston, a peaceful setting for family holidays with popular attractions and seaside resorts nearby. What was once the village school has now been converted into 4 beautiful stone holiday cottages; available to book individually or together.

Loveston School House is the first cottage you reach as you pull into the driveway, with a terrace to the front complete with garden furniture. This four-star accommodation welcomes 4 people and 2 dogs, making it a superb choice as a base for summer holidays with the children.

Wooden and tiled flooring lines the ground floor with retained original features adding character throughout. Large windows can be found in most rooms allowing you to take full advantage of the views across the surroundings. The kitchen/diner opens out onto a terrific seating area ideal for alfresco dining on those warm sunny evenings - if you haven’t ventured to the front terrace that is. The children will love this location with a communal playing field opposite plus there are some great footpaths and bike tracks nearby, perfect for exploring. Walk to the farm shop from here and pick up fresh local produce for the barbecue and dine late into the night around the firepit.

A short drive takes you to Oakwood, the county’s sole rollercoaster theme park, and just fifteen minutes away is the sandy seaside village of Saundersfoot with a plethora of eateries, boat trips and watersports. Plan a day out at Heatherton nearby, venture into Narberth for food and shopping or head to Carew for a family activity day at the Castle.

Full Cluster Details Hidden away down an unmade lane in the sleepy village of Llanfallteg, just 5 miles from Narberth, lies Buttercup Cottage. One of two overlooking a pretty courtyard, this homely cottage is a top choice for anyone looking to escape the rat race and reacquaint yourself with nature.

Buttercup Cottage is set on the owner’s ten-acre smallholding, surrounded by green fields and rolling countryside - what a setting to unwind in. You’ll adore the outdoor spaces here complete with views across the woodland and pond. There’s a front and side terrace where you can relax with a glass of wine, along with a large enclosed meadow-style garden where the children and dog can roam free.

Inside, you’ll find fresh interiors decked out with neutral colours guaranteeing a refreshing getaway all year round. The open-plan living space is ideal for lounging around with your sweetheart soaking up the restful setting whilst the compact kitchen is perfect for cooking up feasts for two - that is if you aren’t lured outside by the barbecue.

The location here lends itself well to outdoorsy travellers with green spaces for miles, plus there is storage here for bikes and a handy hose for washing down muddy boots and equipment. Spend your days strolling the various attractive footpaths and fields (providing they are not occupied by sheep!) and enjoy leisurely cycles taking in the scenery. Go wildlife spotting to see what birds and insects inhabit the hedgerows and trees in this rurality. Walk to the welcoming village pub or take the kids to the playground for a go on the swings, or drive into Narberth for breakfast at Foam or a live gig at the Queen’s Hall. Head to Amroth for beach days or travel to the likes of Broadhaven South for a fully dog friendly day out.

Nestled just a mile outside St Davids is The Barn, a quaint conversion within the tiny hamlet of Trelerw where there are only a handful of cottages. Ideally placed for outdoors adventures, this holiday property is some 250 yards from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and within easy reach of an extensive list of activities.

Picture a whitewashed stone cottage standing in the rolling countryside of the National Park and you’re on the right track. Matching its exterior in its traditional style, the interiors here are full of character with exposed stonework, wooden beams and tiled floors.

The lounge boasts sea views, as does the master bedroom and you will find comfortable furnishings throughout, creating a lovely home from home atmosphere for all who visit. To the side of the property lies a tiny sunken island garden whilst to the front, a picnic bench provides a space for seating on those warm days when this area becomes a sun trap. Travel into the small city of St Davids to pick up fresh groceries at The Veg Patch, souvenirs at Window on Wales and a holiday read from St Davids Bookshop. Make sure to visit the booking offices for boat trips to and around Ramsey Island or call into TYF to learn how to surf, kayak or go coasteering. Stop off at The Bishops or St Davids Kitchen for a quality meal before whisking the kids to The Bug Farm.

Spend your days exploring the St Davids peninsula and climb atop Carn Llidi before swimming in the waves at Whitesands or checking out the place where Saint David was born at St Non’s Chapel. An absolute must for the bucket list here is a self-guided tour of the Cathedral followed by a visit to the Bishop’s Cathedral; keep an eye on the events calendar for concerts, theatre and more at these two attractions.

WANT SUMMER TO LAST FOREVER?

Extend your summer holiday with a post-summer break and enjoy dry sunny days by the coast. September days in Pembrokeshire are all about wildlife, food and festivals - what more could you want?

September adventures can be what you make them; slower-paced and leisurely if relaxation is your thing or action-packed if you’re not ready to say goodbye to those long summer days. This may be the month that the children return to school routines and the colours of the landscape begin to change, but there’s still plenty of time to fit in a seaside escape before the darker nights and colder days emerge.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that this month is “the next best thing” if you can’t make it away for a summer holiday; there’s plenty to get involved with in September. In fact, the event calendar this month is so good that you might struggle to choose just one week to stay.

One of our all-time favourite events of the year, the Narberth Food Festival, takes place in the ninth month of the year and believe us, it’s one that’s not-to-bemissed. Expect a weekend-long celebration of all things foodie. To put it quite simply, this is a foodie’s paradise! Think chef demonstrations, cookery workshops, produce stalls and more. It’s been running for more than 20+ years and it’s developed quite the following.

Sportsmen and women flock to the south Pembrokeshire coastline in their droves for Ironman Weekend early in the month. Two and a half thousand athletes take part in the all-day triathlon plus there’s a kids event to get the little ones involved. Saundersfoot Triathlon runs the same weekend and is the perfect pairing for athletes who aren’t yet at Ironman level.

Tenby Arts Festival takes over one of Wales’ most iconic resorts with live music and entertainment. Venues spread across the cobbled town get involved with pubs and restaurants hosting musicians for an hour or two in a jam-packed schedule of performances. Music lovers will struggle to find a more attractive festival location than this one. Alongside the busy calendar, there are plenty of other things to see and do still. Wildlife is still strong at this time of the year with the Atlantic grey seal pupping season; find fluffy newborns scattered across the western inlets and coves but be sure to keep your distance and view from afar.

It’s the last month of the season to enjoy a boat trip to Ramsey, Skomer and Caldey plus it’s the last time many will make it into the sea for swimming and surfing before the following spring - unless you’re a particularly brave soul that is.

September Stays

Just a short distance from St Brides Haven Beach is Orlandon Farm Cottage, one of four dog friendly stone conversions set around a small green with a wonderful communal children’s play area. Rent alone to sleep up to 8 people or book together to accommodate larger groups of up to 27.

The largest but one of the holiday lets in this shared location, Orlandon Farm Cottage is an idyllic choice all year round with a deceptively spacious interior decorated with a mix of contemporary and traditional antique pieces. Dating back some 200 years, this fostar property boasts an open log fire and modern cottage-style kitchen.

Spend those dry September days settled on the sheltered terrace to the rear as the children play in the enclosed garden, which in fact has gated access directly to the play area with swings and more. Or venture down to the nearby beach for snorkelling, rock pooling, diving and swimming.

The excellent Coast Path borders the entire headland along here so make sure to bring along your walking boots as there’s plenty to see. Change up your routine with a day at Marloes where the sands are golden and the rocks are craggy or head to Dale for watersports and sailing. Boat trips to Skomer run until October so there’s still time to enjoy post-summer voyages across the sea to this wellknown nature reserve.

Dark skies here are something to behold with brilliant views of the stars so don’t forget to look up when the darkness of the night envelopes the area. Travel to Lobster & Mor in Little Haven or The Griffin, Dale for scrumptious seafood.

Full Property Details Along the coast between popular beachside locations like Broadhaven South and Tenby, lies the charming seaside village of Manorbier with its beautiful sandy bay and its impressive Norman castle. Standing in a quiet culde-sac only a short walk from both these superb attractions is 9 Warlows Meadow, a wonderful holiday home for families up to 5.

This dog friendly bungalow is a top choice for those of you looking to park up and not move the car until you’re ready to head home at the end of the week. Start your day with an early morning swim to wake up the soul or ride the waves if the surf is good before returning home for breakfast or lunch on the paved patio.

Spend afternoons walking the Coast Path towards Lydstep and Tenby, passing by the Neolithic tomb of the Kings Quoit, and take in the breathtaking views across the water to Caldey Island. Make your way west for more water activities at Freshwater East, sightsee the hidden bay at Barafundle and unwind with a peaceful walk around the Bosherston Lily Ponds and Broadhaven South Beach.

An obvious must here is a day trip to Manorbier Castle which dates back to the 13th Century. Tour the round tower and snap a picture by the Medieval gatehouse - this was a filming location for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (1989). You’ll appreciate the comfortable leather sofa and cosy armchairs in the lounge after a busy day out.

Cook up your favourite dish using the handy electric double oven in the modern kitchen/diner or book a table at the nearby Castle Inn which specialises in homemade pizzas. This traditional pub is also known to host open mic nights, live entertainment and quiz nights so make sure to check the calendar during your stay.

In the charming rural community of Trefin, nestled along the coast between Porthgain and Abercastle, stands Bwthyn-To-Maen. Picture an attractive whitewashed stone cottage in a peaceful parish and that’s exactly what you get at this holiday cottage.

Dating back to the 18th Century, Bwthyn-To-Maen is one of a pair in this sleepy settlement just one mile from the coastline. Step inside to discover a cosy interior adorned with original features such as exposed stone walls, wooden beams and feature fireplaces. The style here is traditional with a cottage-style kitchen/diner, open tread stairs and comfortable furnishings.

Both bedrooms lie upstairs and boast rural views which can also be enjoyed from the outside spaces. Uneven steps from the enclosed patio lead up to a raised lawn, plus there’s a large shared lawn you can take advantage of. Soak up the tranquil surroundings here and enjoy restful days in the September sunshine, a beautiful way to relax before the autumnal season takes over.

Follow local footpaths to the nearby beach at Aberfelin where you can enjoy rock pooling or call into The Ship Inn for a hearty meal. A short drive takes you to Porthgain, with its picturesque harbour and recommended eateries, whilst further along the coast is Abereiddy with its iconic lagoon with green waters. Take the road in the opposite direction for quiet days bathing at Abercastle and Abermawr bays or venture ten minutes to St Davids, the birthplace of Dewi Sant (the Patron Saint of Wales).

After a leisurely start to the day enjoying holiday life here, wander into Saundersfoot for beach games, water activities and strolls along the coastline. Discover the nearby villages of Wisemans Bridge and Amroth with beach shops and seaside pubs or take a ride on the scenic land train for an insight into the old coaling industry. Dine out at The Boat House, sample seafood at The Stone Crab or reserve a table at Coast for fine-dining by the sea.

A NEW LIFE ON THE COAST

Many of our guests book the same cottage to stay in year after year, and have now been staying in that very same cottage for nigh on twenty years. And we don’t blame them! When you find the perfect holiday cottage which suits your needs, it really does become a home away from home.

But why settle for a home away from home? Why not make plans to make your favourite holiday cottage your permanent home?

Of course, we can’t guarantee everyone’s favourite holiday home will one day be up for sale, but can promise to help you find your own piece of Pembrokeshire. Just imagine your own little plot of Welsh land where you can lay your head 365 days a year, where your doggie can roam free from urban life and where you are surrounded by rolling green fields and beautiful blue seas.

After years and years of our guests saying to us, “let us know if the owner decides to sell”, about their favourite cottages, we set up our real estate sister company, Coasty. Specialising in unique and distinct properties throughout Pembrokeshire, you’re sure to find a real gem in Coasty’s portfolio. You may discover a magnificent beachside property with panoramic sea views, a rural haven in the depths of the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, or an idyllic renovated farmhouse just moments from the Coast Path.

Finding your new home needn’t be a stressful occasion either. Let our friendly and professional team at Coasty help guide you through the process and find the right property which ticks every box. Whether that be a convenient village location, must-have water views, a remote setting or ample parking with room to store your boat - just let us know.

Don’t forget, we can also let your new house for you when you’re not staying there. After all, a little extra spending money always comes in handy right?

GOT A PROPERTY? JOIN THE FAMILY

At our heart, we are a local holiday cottage company who have been at the forefront of the self-catering industry for almost 40 years. Pioneering the quality end of the market, plus national and international marketing, Coastal Cottages has gained a reputation that has seen over 70% repeat business every year.

Here at Coastal Cottages, our owners are an important part of the family and we’re always keen to extend that family – but we do only take on around 20% of the properties we are offered.

First up, we want to stress that we’re not a call centre, nowhere near in fact. We are not in the business of processing visitors, we are quite the opposite. We’re a family-run company with a small team, all of whom live locally so we have a personal connection to the county around us and to what we do.

We offer first-hand advice and guidance to guests. We’ve even established a Concierge team who work closely with local businesses to offer a holiday experience like no other.

Our owners receive that same personalised advice and reliable service. Our Team schedule regular property visits throughout the year ensuring we get to know our cottages inside-out to give guests that extra level of service.

As a future owner who wants to offer the very best, we’ll help you get there, even if that means casting our eye over interior design choices, helping choose the right facilities and giving our opinion when you’re looking for new properties to add to your collection.

We’ve learnt that no two properties are the same but luckily for us, no two guests are the same either. That’s why we endeavour to be flexible and personal throughout our service. And clearly, that ethos works. Many of our current collection has been with us since the days when we had only a handful of cottages and a small team back in the early 80s. Nowadays, most of these cottages are owned by the next generation, and we’re delighted they’ve chosen to stay part of the Coastal Cottages family. running of your cottage too overwhelming, sit back and let us handle it. At Coastal Cottages, we are the only agency to offer a full management package giving you peace of mind that everything will be dealt with professionally and efficiently on your behalf. With our own team of tradesmen and housekeepers, we can take care of the weekly changeovers and any maintenance needed. We can be as involved as you want us to be, from scheduling your annual PAT tests to making sure the garden is freshly cut, week in week out.

Marketing Pembrokeshire is our speciality, and it is all done internally. We have dedicated online, social and press teams which promote nationally and internationally. We also work closely with online travel agents and overseas agents to promote your cottage overseas as well as to the UK market.

The bottom line is we go the extra mile because we can; we live here, we care and would be delighted to talk through your next adventure, so give us a call on 01437 765 765.
