The main purpose of this project is to develop a virtual tour of iconic text messaging in an iconic operating system (IOS), using a PDA phone (smart phone) as the specific parameter for the project. The project encompasses the concept of iconic text messaging instead of text messaging and mainly discusses the most common text usage, which are ‘greetings’ and ‘canceling/arranging a social meeting.’
The iconic language system (ILS) is a unique, consistent, and efficient language system that I developed for the project by using icons. From my personal experience, a huge set of icons could be overwhelming. Thus, the icons from ILS are capable of working with other icons to create new meanings. Users have to learn ILS in order to create and understand the message. ILS can tap users’ imagination as well as creativity.
