Lucy G. Thurston and her husband (Asa Thurston) were among the first company of Christian missionaries to arrive in the Hawaiian Islands in 1820. During the majority of her years in the Islands she and her husband were stationed in what is now known as Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. They lived and labored among the native Hawaiian population and for over a decade of her 50 years in the Islands lived under conditions very much like the native population. She lived a life of true faith in God found only in Jesus Christ.
