Welcome to SportsPro Live It’s our pleasure to welcome you to SportsPro Live in association with Odgers Berndtson, the first conference from the team behind SportsPro magazine. With the help of many of you, today’s aim here at the Emirates Stadium is to examine sport’s global future over the next decade. There is plenty to discuss, from the way federations and leagues go about their business, a constantly shifting media and technology landscape, a maturing sponsorship and broadcast rights marketplace, the evolving role of agencies, the rise of data and the increasingly complex dynamics of bidding for and hosting sports events. We’ll do our best to cover these issues and more over the course of the next few hours. The philosophy guiding SportsPro Live is one of conversation and debate, so your contributions are more than welcome, both here at the venue and online – our official Twitter hashtag is #SPLive2014. A WORD FROM... Lord Sebastian Coe SportsPro Live is going to play a key role in debating the future of global sport over the next decade, and the IAAF are delighted to be part of this exciting conference. In November 2013 the IAAF Council was delighted to receive outstanding championship bids from the cities of Portland, Oregon in the USA and Birmingham, England, to host future editions of the World Indoor Championships. Respectively, these two cities will now welcome the world’s best indoor athletics performers in 2016 and 2018. Considering two world capitals, Beijing and London, are the venues for our outdoor World Championships in 2015 and 2017, the IAAF has established an extremely advantageous position during this decade to consistently market the attractions of our best athletes to the world’s sports fans. Athletics is able to look forward to the Olympic Games in Rio 2016, the largest showcase for our sport, with a consistent and successful narrative of high class global events in attractive, desirable locations. Yet in a fast evolving sports landscape and an equally challenging economic environment in which fans and sponsors are constantly assessing the multiple sport and entertainment attractions now available, the IAAF, along with other sports federations, cannot afford to be complacent. This is why the IAAF is the key International Federation partner of SportsPro Live. We wish to aid and assist this multi-sports forum, discussing with other stakeholders the future of sport globally especially its governance and commerciality. How will changing patterns in sponsorship, the goals of nations and cities wishing to bid and host events, and the forms and demands of modern media impact across the world of sport? At SportsPro Live, the IAAF looks forward to engaging in wide-ranging debates and discussions to explore possible directions of the future sports market and how we should best engage with those developments in the next decade.

Speakers Sir Ben Ainslie Sir Ben Ainslie is the world’s most successful Olympic sailor and in 2013 became the first Briton to win the America’s Cup in 110 years. In May 2012, Ben had the honour of being the first torchbearer for the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay. After winning his fourth consecutive gold medal at London 2012, the five-time Olympic medallist was chosen to be Great Britain’s flag bearer at the Olympics closing ceremony. Following his Olympic retirement, Ben launched his own racing team, Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR), which competed in the 2012/2013 America’s Cup World Series and joined Oracle Team USA for the 34th America’s Cup final. After Ainslie was called up to replace the American team’s tactician halfway through the series, the holders produced one of the biggest sporting comebacks in history, coming from 8-1 down to beat Emirates Team New Zealand 9-8. Ben was awarded a Knighthood in the 2013 New Year’s Honours List, and is now looking to lead his own British entry for the 35th Edition of the America’s Cup, and bring sport’s oldest sporting trophy back to the UK.

Jean-Thierry Augustin Jean-Thierry Augustin was promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer, Eurosport Group, in June 2013. Jean-Thierry is a graduate of HEC Paris business school and started his business career in 1991 with Airsys ATM, a Thomson-CSF (now Thales)-Siemens joint venture, before leaving in 2000 to co-found Prizzo.com. Jean-Thierry joined Eurosport in 2001 as Regional Distribution Director. In 2003, he was appointed Deputy Managing Director, Distribution, and in 2006 added responsibility for Development to his role. In 2010, Jean-Thierry widened his remit and was promoted to Managing Director, Distribution, Rights Acquisition & Development for the Eurosport Group. Jean-Thierry initiated the launch of the Eurosport 2 TV channel in 2005, now available in 18 languages and 51 countries with over 63 million subscribers in Europe. He also pioneered the launch of Eurosport HD in May 2008 and Eurosport 2 HD in August 2009. In 2011, he initiated 3D events channels for Roland Garros and for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Jean-Thierry has also developed Eurosport’s online business through the launch of local websites across Northern and Southern Europe including eurosport.ru, now a leading sport website in Russia. In 2009, he strengthened Eurosport’s online presence by rolling out a unique sports streaming service, Eurosport Player, which has since seen expansion on connected TV, tablets and smartphones.

Guido Bouw As a business administration and communication science graduate, Guido Bouw worked for Dutch Football club AFC Ajax in sponsoring and as media manager for seven years. Following his time at Ajax he managed sports content and sponsoring at Dutch Telco KPN TV & Media and Heineken. Currently at Infostrada Sports Guido is responsible for group sales coordination, the international client portfolio, events services and partnerships.

Henry Chappell Henry started his career in the sports industry as a fanzine seller outside Old Trafford, before securing a job in the post room of IMG’s London headquarters. After a stint at the leading entertainment PR agency, Freud Communications, Henry launched Pitch in 2002 as the UK’s first communications agency to specialise in sport and sponsorship. Henry has built Pitch into a Top 20 consumer PR firm and the leading independent agency in the sports sector. Henry and his team were recognised with multiple industry awards in 2012 for their work to promote Channel 4’s coverage of the Paralympic Games, and Pitch has been shortlisted for ‘ Agency of the Year’ at the Sports Industry Awards for the past three years. The agency’s clients include global sponsors and consumer brands such as Accenture, Asics, Heineken, and Red Bull; international sports properties including FIFA, NBA, and UEFA; media clients BT Sport, Eurosport and Yahoo; and major events such as Glasgow 2014.

Brian Cookson Prior to being elected to cycling’s top job, the UCI presidency, in September 2013, Cookson spent almost 16 years at the helm of British Cycling, engineering its transformation from a hapless institution on the brink of bankruptcy to one of the sport’s leading governing bodies. Cookson was appointed president of British Cycling in 1997, the year after he served as a member of the emergency committee that rescued it from insolvency. During his tenure the team enjoyed unprecedented success, winning 19 Olympic gold medals, 28 Paralympic gold medals, two Tour de France general classifications and a host of UCI Road, Track, MTB and BMX World Championships. Cookson has also represented cycling on the British National Olympic Committee since 1997 and was awarded the OBE in the 2008 New Year’s Honours List in recognition of his services to the sport. Cookson qualified as a UCI International Commissaire in 1986 and went on to officiate at several World Championships, international stage races and the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona. He became a member of the UCI Management Committee in 2009 and served as the President of the UCI Cyclo-Cross Commission from 2009 to 2011, when he was appointed as the President of the UCI Road Commission, a position that he still holds.

Simon Cummins Simon Cummins is the Managing Partner of Odgers Berndtson’s Global Sports Practice. The Executive Search Group have over 50 offices in over 35 countries and have an array of clients including the IOC, UEFA, NFL, NBA, IRB, Manchester United, Inter Milan, WWE, UFC and are the leading talent advisors for several past and present Organising Committees for major events including the Vancouver, London and Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games. They have placed several Chairs, Non-Executive Directors and ‘C’ suite executives into a number of International Federations and National Governing Bodies such as The RFU, The FA, WRU, SRU, UKA, FEI, FAI, FIBA, British Rowing, ITT and many others. Before joining Odgers Berndtson Simon was a Director of Global Education Management Systems. Previously, he was a Director at Gabbitas, heading their recruitment and consultancy department. He spent two years helping establish Education-on-Line in the UK. Prior to this, Simon was a head teacher for ten years. Whilst at Millfield in Somerset, he was Head of the Prep and a member of the Management Executive Group for all three Millfield Schools and Millfield Enterprises. Simon is an accomplished sportsman, playing a high level of rugby and cricket, as well as being a white-water canoeist and ‘extreme’ rock-climber. He is a former Board member at ESRFU and pitch.co.uk and is currently a Non-Executive Director at innovision and RPMC.

Robert Datnow Robert trained at Linklaters in the mid 1990s and qualified and practised there as a litigator for four years. He joined the British Olympic Association as its head of legal and public policy throughout the Sydney - Salt Lake Olympic cycle and worked there on the bid for the London 2012 Olympic Games. As a partner at the international law firm Farrer & Co, he was a member of the firm’s commercial sports group advising sports rights holders and national and international federations. Robert became global director of the Laureus Sport for Good foundation before co-founding The Sports Consultancy in 2006. Over the past eight years as joint Managing Director at The Sports Consultancy, Robert has led the company’s growing specialism in rights holder bid management, strategic and legal work. Robert has consulted to the Women’s Tennis Association, the Volvo Ocean Race, the International Rugby Board, the International Equestrian Federation, the America’s Cup, the International Sailing Federation, and to Sir Keith Mills’ TEAMORIGIN and Open Sports Management. Robert has also consulted to the Region of Madrid, London & Partners and Falcon. As owner of the business, Robert is also involved in creating and acquiring events which The Sports Consultancy owns and commercialises and in growing the existing business and expanding into new compatible areas.

Carlo DeMarchis Carlo De Marchis is the Chief Product Officer at deltatre and joined the company in 1988; in the intervening 26 years, he has experienced the highest levels of sport all around the world and participated in every step of deltatre’s impressive growth. Barney Francis Barney Francis is Managing Director of Sky Sports, reporting to Sky’s Chief Executive, Jeremy Darroch. Barney has worked in television for nearly two decades, within multi-channel, terrestrial, and independent sectors. At Sky Sports he has produced a range of live coverage, support programming and sport news content. Production credits include the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Cricket World Cup and Test cricket. As executive producer for cricket from 2001 to 2007 he was responsible for Sky’s exclusive live coverage of domestic Test matches and the introduction of a range of new cricket shows plus production innovations such as Ultra Motion replays, Hot Spot graphics and the UK’s first live HD sports broadcast, the 2006 Test series against Sri Lanka. As Managing Director since 2009, he has seen Sky Sports continue to grow with the Masters and F1 coming to Sky, taken the entire sports output into HD and introduced the world’s first live 3D sports. He has also taken his team into a new purpose-built home within Sky Studios, Europe’s most environmentally friendly TV facility. Alongside this, Sky has added further support to sport at all levels through its partnerships with cycling, the support to youth through Sky Sports Living for Sport.

Adam Fraser Adam Fraser is Executive Director of the Sport Industry Group, which brings together the sports business world in the UK and South Africa through a series of world-class events and industry-leading content. He also serves as Head of Communications for the wider Benchmark Sport International group, including Beyond Sport, the global organisation that promotes, develops and supports the use of sport to create positive social change across the world. He previously worked as a journalist for a wide range of sport magazines, newspapers, websites and official publications in both England and France, including SportsPro between 2008 and 2011.

Richard Gillis Richard is an award-winning journalist whose Unofficial Partner blog was recently described as a ‘cult hit’ by someone who should know better. Unofficial Partner was created as somewhere to discuss sport, media and technology in a way that is serious but not boring. Formerly editor of SportBusiness International, Richard cofounded Platform magazine in 2009 and is a regular commentator on the sports business for the Wall Street Journal. His ‘21st Century Sport’ series of investigative reports in The Observer was recognised by the Foreign Press Association Awards and the Sports Writers Association of Great Britain. As cricket correspondent of the Irish Times, Richard covered the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup campaign in the Caribbean, where his reporting on the untimely death of Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer led the global news agenda before he returned to London as a columnist and feature interviewer for the paper. He is a judge of the prestigious Sport Industry Awards and a regular conference speaker and moderator at industry events including Leaders in Football, Future Sponsorship, International Sports Event Management and the HSBC Golf Business Forum. His groundbreaking industry report, The Future of Sports Marketing was undermined by the absence of a section on the internet. Richard combines writing with his own media, content and communications strategic consultancy, working for brands including Lloyds Banking Group, EY and Coca Cola. He can be found most days on Twitter @RichardGillis1 bickering with people he hopes never to meet.

Dave Gordon Dave Gordon was Head of Major Events at BBC Sport from 2001 to 2013 and led the teams delivering BBC Sport’s coverage of the London 2012 Olympics. It was his tenth summer Games at the BBC. He was subsequently made BBC Director of 2012 for the Paralympics and Athletes’ Parade. He left the BBC in January 2013 and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Royal Television Society at the 2012 Programme Awards. In June 2013, he was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Dave joined the BBC in 1972, a month after the Munich Olympics; Moscow, 1980 was the first he attended and he has been at every one since Seoul in 1988. He led the BBC teams in Sydney, Athens and Beijing; He has also worked on the last seven Winter Olympics and eight Commonwealth Games, taking editorial responsibility for them since 1994. Dave was also Editor of ‘Grandstand’ from 1991 to 2001 and has been responsible for the coverage of the BBC’s Athletics events, including the London Marathon, Great North Run and World and European Championships from 1994 to 2009. He is now working as a Sports Broadcasting Consultant; work which took him to the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and, later this year, will take him to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

David Grevemberg David is a recognised international sports manager with dynamic leadership and management capabilities. He has extensive knowledge and experience in Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth sport governance and management and a proven track record of forming strategic alliances, creating innovative programmes and initiatives, leading organisational change and transformation and delivering complex projects and large-scale events. David joined Glasgow 2014 as Director of Operations in October 2009, became Chief Operating Officer in July 2010 and was appointed Chief Executive in the summer of 2011. As Chief Executive of Glasgow 2014 Ltd., David has the ultimate responsibility for overseeing the general management of the OC and acts as the senior staff liaison with Games Partners and stakeholders. Prior to joining Glasgow 2014 Ltd., David was the Executive Director of Sport and International Federation (IF) Relations at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) headquartered in Bonn, Germany, where he served from 1999 to 2009. During David’s tenure at the IPC he was responsible for overseeing all Games-related activities associated with the development and delivery of the Paralympic Games sports programme, National Paralympic Committee services, Paralympic Village operations and technology systems and services. Sally Hancock Having played a pivotal role in the analysis and negotiation of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games banking and insurance partnership for Lloyds TSB, Sally joined the company in July 2007 with the remit of maximising the value of the partnership and ensuring its effective activation over the next five years. She was accountable for the full delivery of the partnership through the business, the development and implementation of the London 2012 fiveyear strategic plan, and the management of all external partnerships and internal governance on the project. Sally is now providing the same leadership for SSE’s partnership with the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Prior to that, Sally was the founder and Chief Executive of Redmandarin, the international sponsorship consultancy company whose clients include Philips, Sony Ericsson, Deutsche Telekom and SABMiller. David Hill David Hill is Senior Executive Vice President, 21st Century Fox, a role in which he focuses on programming, digital initiatives and other opportunities spanning the breadth of the company’s operating units across Latin America, Asia, Australia, Europe and the US. Prior to his current role, Mr. Hill served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FOX Sports Media Group (FSMG), the umbrella entity representing the company’s wide array of multi-platform US-based sports assets. While simultaneously maintaining his FOX Sports responsibilities, Hill served as President of DIRECTV’s entertainment division from April 2005 to March 2007. There he was responsible for the integration of new technologies and the development of programming services. In 2011, Hill also served as Chairman & COO/ Executive Producer of the National Geographic Channel, where he oversaw all of the network’s business and production operations. Prior to being named FOX Sports Chairman, Hill was Chairman and CEO, FOX Broadcasting Company from 1997 to 1999, while retaining the positions of President and Executive Producer, FOX Sports and President and CEO, Fox Sports Net. His responsibilities as Chairman and CEO of FOX Broadcasting encompassed all programming, marketing, advertising sales and business affairs at the combined entities. Hill joined FOX Broadcasting Company in December 1993 as President of FOX Sports, responsible for the creation of FOX’s sports division. Under his direction, FOX Sports grew from an idea to a fully functional network sports division in just eight months, utilising state-of-the-art studio and on-site broadcasting facilities. He began his career with the company in Great Britain in 1988, when he helped launch Sky Television, Britain’s first satellite TV station, and also introduced Eurosport, a pan-European, multilingual, dedicated sports channel that was a joint venture of Sky Television and the European Broadcast Union. When Sky Television merged with British Satelite Broadcasting in 1990, he took charge of BSkyB Sports Channel and created Sky Sports in April 1991, and made it the fastest-growing subscription channel in television history. Hill relocated to Great Britain from Australia, where he had been Vice President, Sports, with the Nine Network since 1977. Under his direction the station won an unprecedented number of awards for excellence in sports production. His career began as a 17-year-old copy boy at the Sydney Daily Telegraph (Australia). He worked as a reporter on that newspaper, before switching to television at age 19. Hill lives in Los Angeles with his wife Joan and their family.

Christian Holzer Christian Holzer joined IMPIRE AG in 2003 as COO. He has an established background in football and technology and has developed the company over the last decade. After finishing his professional football career and his studies at the Technical University of Munich, he began his business career at SIMI GmbH. From next-gen product development to full service solutions, Christian has led teams that have changed the digital sports industry and consistently delivered innovative digital sports products that drove the business growth of IMPIRE. Christian has a long time experience in the world of digital sports products. He successfully developed and marketed several digital sports products that are currently used for all Bundesliga and 2. Peter Hutton Peter Hutton is a 30-year veteran of the sports industry, having begun as a local radio commentator for BBC Radio Leeds at the age of 16. His career has taken him around the world, initially as a journalist, commentator and presenter. As a journalist, he was the first producer of the international football show Futbol Mundial, reported on the Hillsborough football disaster for BBC TV, commentated on Rugby League for Sky Sports and was also a presenter at both Sky and Anglia TV. In 1994, he moved to India as IMG’s first full time employee in the sub-continent, and went on to become head of production for IMG in Asia as well as Managing Director of the agency in the subcontinent. In 2002, he left IMG to found the Ten Sports channel business in Dubai and was CEO when the business was sold to Zee TV in 2010, at which point it was the most watched sports channel in India. From 2010-2013, Peter worked for Fox International channels, including a role as the last Managing Director of ESPN-Star Sports before it was broken into smaller pieces following the News Corp takeover of the business. In the summer of 2013, he joined agency MP & Silva, initially as Chief Operating Officer and now as CEO.

Mike Lee OBE Mike Lee OBE is Chairman of VERO, a strategic communications company he launched in 2006, following his role as Director of Communications and Public Affairs for London’s successful 2012 Olympic bid. He was Director of Communications and Public Affairs for European football’s governing body, UEFA, from 2000-2004 and media and political strategist for the English Premier League between 1994 and 2000. He started his professional career as a parliamentary adviser with the British Labour Party. Mike was most recently a senior consultant to the winning Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games, PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games and Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup bids, and played a similar role with the successful Rio 2016 Olympic bid and the International Rugby Board (IRB) in their campaign for the inclusion of Rugby in the Olympic Programme. Mike also advised Brian Cookson during his winning campaign for Presidency of the UCI. He has worked extensively in the business of sport and has advised many organisations in a variety of sport sectors. Current clients include Rio 2016, the IRB, UK Sport, the UCI and the International Centre for Sport Security. Mike was voted PR Week’s PR Professional of the Year in 2005 and awarded an OBE in that year’s New Year’s Honours list. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Beyond Sport, a Fellow of the RSA and in 2006 published his book The Race for the 2012 Olympics.

Sir Keith Mills Sir Keith Mills was born and educated in the UK. He founded Air Miles International Group BV (AMIG) in 1988 to develop the AIR MILES programme. Formerly Chairman of Loyalty Management Group Ltd (LMG) which is the company which owns and manages the Nectar programme in the UK and licenses Air Miles programmes internationally. In September 2003 Sir Keith was appointed International President and CEO of London 2012, the company that was established to bid for the 2012 Olympic Games. Sir Keith led the team and along with Lord Coe was responsible for developing the bid strategy and persuading the 115 IOC members that London should be granted the right to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. On 6 July 2005, in Singapore, London beat off competition from New York, Paris, Madrid and Moscow to win the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Having established the London 2012 organisation which planned and organised the Games (LOCOG), Sir Keith remained as Deputy Chairman alongside Lord Coe to oversee operations. Sir Keith is also a non executive director of Tottenham Hotspur Plc and a director and investor in a number of small private companies. In addition, Sir Keith owns two yacht racing teams: TEAMORIGIN, which was established to compete as Britain’s entry in the America’s Cup, and AT Racing, which competes in ocean races with Hugo Boss sponsorship. Sir Keith chairs the sport for development foundation - the UK Sported programme.

Patrick Nally Patrick Nally is known as one of the founding fathers of the sports business industry. Through the company he cofounded in 1970, West Nally, he all but invented the concept of sports marketing, packaging rights, creating events and forging commercial relationships between all manner of sports and multinational companies.

David Nugent David Nugent is a founding partner at Omnigon, a digital consulting firm that delivers strategic technical and creative guidance and solutions to leaders in the sports, media and entertainment industries. Nugent oversees the Business Development and Client Management teams and has been instrumental in all new business acquisition. Nugent and his team are responsible managing the relationships of all Omnigon’s clients including the PGA TOUR, NASCAR, WWE, USGA, Fox Sports, Fox Broadcasting, MSG, and MLB. Under his leadership, the company has experienced on average a year-over-year growth of 50-80 per cent since its inception in 2008. In early 2014, Omnigon expanded its overseas presence by opening an office in London to continue to fuel its growth into the international markets. The London office reports into Nugent. Nugent has become popular on the thought leadership circuit having spoken at several conferences within the last year, including the On Deck Sports Conference, NASA Life Event Technologies and the Social Media Summit. Prior to Omnigon, Nugent was Founder and President of RDW Sports Marketing, a sports marketing and technology company whose clients included Madison Square Garden, National Hockey League, New York Rangers, and the New York Knicks among others. In addition to overseeing the firm’s business development opportunities, Nugent, an avid hockey fan developed and ran a youth hockey programme in conjunction with the National Hockey League from 2006-2008. The program, ‘Got Skills’, ran in 10 NHL markets including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Anaheim, Phoenix and Nashville where it served hundreds of children each year. Before RDW, he was Founder and President of a web development firm, Gyrate Internet Solutions. Nugent received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Ithaca College. He lives in New York with his wife and three children. Still a recreational hockey player, he also coaches youth ice hockey and lacrosse teams.

Simon Oliveira Simon Oliveira is a key strategist in David Beckham’s team, working closely with the global icon for the past 10 years. In April 2013, Oliveira joined forces with CAA’s Matthew Kay to create Doyen Global, an emerging new agency and investment fund in sport and entertainment encompassing player management; brand partnerships; Intellectual Property acquisition; sales consultancy; film and digital investments. Ben Pincus Ben has spent the last 20 years helping brands secure, manage and activate sponsorships to meet a variety of clients, brand and business objectives. He has worked with numerous international brands (Heineken, Visa, SAP, SONY, Nissan and Canon to name a few) across various sports and entertainment properties (Formula One, European football, sailing, golf, music, fashion and film). Wyndham Richardson Wyndham serves as a Board Member for both Hawk-Eye Innovations and Pulse Innovations, playing an integral role in the growth of both companies. As Co-Founder and Managing Director of Pulse Innovations, Wyndham oversees all areas of the business and has ultimate responsibility for managing the partnerships with all of Pulse’s major clients, including the International Cricket Council, Board of Control for Cricket in India, Indian Premier League, ESPN, Fox Sports Australia and Sky Sports. Francisco Roca Perez Francisco Roca was CEO of La Liga for eight years, until recently. In that position he managed a dramatic increase in centralised commercial revenues, most notably through the signing of BBVA as title sponsor. He focused as well on new content generation through different digital developments, and created the state-of-the-art ‘Mediacoach’ league-wide centralised video-analysis and reporting platform. He also worked on strengthening the financial control of the clubs and enhancing stadium security and access control technology through a league-managed centralised system. Prior to that, Francisco spent 12 years in the NBA, working on the international expansion of the league. He focused on increasing distribution of NBA TV programmes, consumer products, sponsorship and high profile events, like McDonald’s Open, NBA Jam Session, NBA 3-on-3 Tour, etc. Before that, Francisco worked in banking and sports retailing. Francisco holds a degree in Education Science from Barcelona University, studied PADE at IESE Business School and he is currently working on a PhD in marketing at Madrid’s Complutense University. He has recently started a sports management consulting business.


Matt Rogan Matt Rogan is Managing Director of Two Circles, a data driven agency which helps sporting organisations develop stronger relationships with their customers. The business uses data insight to understand and engage fans, grow revenue streams, drive sponsor return and solve complex CRM problems. Two Circles works across the sporting landscape – with current clients including England and Wales Cricket Board, Ascot Racecourse, Lord’s, KIA Oval, Valencia CF and Fulham Football Clubs, Harlequins, Wasps, Youth Sport Trust and several prominent national governing bodies. Just two and a half years old, the business already has a full-time team of 38 based in Marylebone. In February 2014 Two Circles won a Marketing Week Data Strategy award with Surrey County Cricket Club, swiftly followed by nominations for Agency of the Year and Integrated Marketing (again with Surrey) at the Sports Industry Awards and at the Sports Technology Awards with Youth Sport Trust. Matt graduated in French and German from Cambridge in 1997. After a grounding in strategy consultancy, he became European Marketing Manager for the NBA and then European Sponsorship Director for MTV. Matt has consulted with likes of Disney, British television networks, TOP and domestic Olympic sponsors and several Premier League football clubs. Matt co-founded Two Circles after being a Board Director at Lane4. During his tenure there the business turnover doubled. Lane4’s Board were twice voted into the top five of the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list.

Christian Stadil Christian Stadil is the owner and Chairman of Thornico, a conglomerate of businesses dealing in Food and Technology, Shipping, Sport and Fashion, Real Estate and Financing. As owner of hummel International A/S, a leading Danish sport and fashion brand, Christian has established its Company Karma programme, based on a business philosophy that uses the simple mechanic of karma - every action has a consequence. With this business philosophy in mind, and under the mantra ‘Change the World through Sport’, hummel sponsors children’s football academies in Sierra Leone as well as the Afghan National Teams and Afghan Premier League. With roots in Company Karma, Christian is an international speaker on leadership, branding, creativity and innovation. Russell Stopford Russell Stopford is Product Development Director at PERFORM. Russell joined PERFORM in 2013 from Manchester City FC, where he was Head of Digital. Casey Wasserman Casey Wasserman is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Wasserman Media Group, a leading sports and entertainment agency he founded in 2002. Andrew Wildblood Andrew Wildblood joined IMG in 1989, since when he has been associated with many of the company’s highest profile clients and international developments. Andrew is responsible for the management of the company’s business with the All England Club (Wimbledon) and has represented The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews on aspects of the commercial management of The Open Championship since 1993. Martyn Ziegler Martyn Ziegler has worked at the Press Association since 1996, becoming chief sports reporter in 2000.
