Measured Drawings
2
The object was initially photographed next to a ruler in order to establish the hight and width of the object. However, a photograph does not produce an ortographic view as evident in the picture below.
Additional measurements were taken with a ruler, for example the dimensions of individual parts.
To produce a fully ortographic drawing of the object, both plan and elevation views was printed from the Rhino 3D model. Printing the images at scale made it easy to trace over them to produce the ortographic views.

1) The different parts were laid out.
2) The closed curves were transformed into planar surfaces and then extruded into solids.
4) Through a series of rotation and move commands the parts were aligned.
5) The first booster was assembled in a similar way.
3) By object snaps and working with gumball the objects were aligned.
6) Then the booster and long part of the body was copied and put in to place through move and rotate.

Plan
The object is made of cardboard in two different thicknesses both to alter the apperance of the object but also to provide strength and rigidity were needed. The original object was likely to break in the joints as shown in the analytical drawing. To mend this the joints were made to act by compression. In the figure to the right it is seen that longer, thinner elements were placed on the inside of the circle to achieve this in the bottom joint. Finally the angle between the two circles is achieved by changing the angle of the nothches to allow this.

Sketch Design #1 Visual, Chair, Eye-contact, Support
What is your idea? [Maximum 5 key words]
How does this respond to your personal space? By obscuring the face eye-contact is made impossible. The inclined disks allows an occupant to see possible intruders. The backbone provides comfort and support.

Sketch Design #2 Head, Armor, Shape
What is your idea? [Maximum 5 key words]
How does this respond to your personal space? The object is worn like an armor to signal the need for personal space. The shape mirrors the fact that more space is required in front in order to feel comfortable.

Sketch Design #3 Space, Transparency, Tent
What is your idea? [Maximum 5 key words]
How does this respond to your personal space? Inclined panels provide privacy by obscuring the face. The transparency of the lower part and the cloth sides clearly informs whether the tent is occupied.
