There’s a lot to be excited about as we approach the last quarter of 2022. The global pandemic made the previous two years a challenge. We are streamlining our operations and engaging with the community in new, exciting ways. With the help of community partners, we’ve developed innovative, inclusive initiatives such as fishing, agriculture science, and chess. We are completing capital improvement projects and maintenance improvements to our parks and facilities. We’ve joined the Henry County Arts Consortium and drastically expanded our Afterschool Academic Enrichment Program. The hardworking public servants at Henry County Parks and Recreation have developed worthwhile, engaging content for you and your children to enjoy. Thanks to hard working staff, community partners, and the people of Henry County, Fall 2022 will be epic.

In Parks and Recreation, we saw our purpose evolve throughout the past year. We continued offering our normal recreation programs, but we also saw more and more need for different, unique programs outside of those normal offerings. People wanted to reengage with their community. We provided residents with the opportunity to connect with each other, themselves, and nature. People and families sought refuge in their county parks. Now, any given day of the week, you can find families enjoying the open spaces, runners and walkers exploring the many trails, and athletes playing team sports in a safe environment utilizing national standards and protocols. We made it possible for people to safely connect with community through virtual programs like chess and esports. In doing so, we worked to create a better community for all of our residents.
