BTC LAUNCHES 2nd FRANCISTOWN

Botswana Telecommunication Corporations Limited (BTC) announces the 2nd edition of the BTC Francistown Marathon 2023, scheduled for Sunday 23rd, April 2023 at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown. The BTC annual event targets local and international athletes, with a special 5-kilometre peace run category for children. The distance categories are 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km and each category carries a wide array of prizes for top performing athletes.

Speaking at the launch, Francistown Deputy Mayor, Honourable Lesego Kwambala states that Francistown city prides itself as the hub of commerce and industry in the northern part of Botswana and further provides a linkage with other Southern African Development Community (SADC) neighbours’ examples being Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia.

This special city is geographically and strategically positioned to enhance socio-economic development of the SADC region and amass greater value in Regional and International trade than any other urban or peri urban area in Botswana.

He continues to say that “leadership embraced initiatives geared towards improving the socio-economic outlook of its people and is very much excited that BTC had chosen the city to host the event and promised the council’s unwavering support”.

Furthermore, he shares on being reliably informed that through the BTC Foundation, BTC has over the years positioned itself as a company that advocates for and supports upliftment projects that are intended to positively impact communities and their bigger economies. BTC is no stranger to our communities in Francistown and its surrounding areas, over the 42 years BTC has touched the lives of the people in Northeast region in significant ways.
