Botswana Motor Sport on the 1000 Desert Race in the Diamond-Mining

After a much anticipated three-year absence on the land of Jwaneng, Toyota 1000 desert race that is under Botswana Motor Sport(BMS) and Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa (TGRSA) championship returns to the diamond-mining town Jwaneng for the date period of 23 to 25 June 2023.

The role of Botswana Motor Sport (BMS) is to ensure that motorsport and leisure cycling are run according to the regulations that govern motorsport throughout the world. Motorsport is a complex sport, with hundreds of different variations of the sport.

Including off road races such as Toyota 1000 Desert Race, rally raids/Baja’s mostly known for the Paris Dakar Rally, Formula 1 and 4 wheel drive events just to name a few, which are all controlled by the FIA.

The Toyota 1000 Desert Race (TDR) commonly known as Mantshwabisi which is a South Africa Cross Country Series competition forms the third and fourth rounds of the TGRSA and the BMS. “After three years of not competing in Botswana, the TGRSA 1000 Desert Race will return to the diamond-mining town of Jwaneng for Round Three on 23, 24 and 25 June.

This will be the only marathon event on the calendar. The Debswana Jwaneng mine is the richest diamond mine in the world and the historical Desert Race was hosted in Jwaneng from 2014 to 2018.
