Trinity Health System Presents The 2017 Chamber Golf Classic
The Chamber golf outing is a favorite among many local businesses and organizations. It’s been around for more than 30 years yet never gets stale with new things being added and improved each year. It brings business people, golfers, volunteers and sponsors together for a great day of friendly competition, food, drink and lots of networking. And, while It may sound cliche, many deals are truly made on (or near) the golf course. You never know who you’ll meet while eating breakfast, volunteering or working your business’ tent (a new spon-

Coffee & Connections With A New Twist Visit us online at www.jeffersoncountychamber.com
If you’ve never attended “Coffee & Connections,” you’re missing out on what has become one of the Chamber’s most popular monthly programs. Designed to be casual, convenient and effective, it starts with a great breakfast followed by a lively round of introductions and “mini-commercials” from those in attendance. It truly is “speed-networking” at its best as participants introduce themselves, their business or organization and touch on the highlights of their products and services, special offers, announcements or upcoming events. Don’t worry about being a great public speaker — the atmosphere is casual and fun. You may get a friendly heckling and if you go over the two-minute time limit, you’ll be “gonged.” This helps us stay on schedule so you can be on your way within the hour. Bring your business cards, brochures, coupons or promotional items and be sure to download the Chamber’s new app, “Socio” before you arrive so that you can take part in a “virtual business card exchange” with anyone in attendance simply by shaking your phone. “Coffee & Connections” is held on

the second Wednesday of each month from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at various Chamber member restaurants and catering facilities. The April 12 event is going to be a special one hosted by the Jefferson Count Farm Bureau with its board members serving as celebrity chefs, making made-to-order omelets with all your favorite fillings. And all of the ingredients featured will be locally sourced — Farm-fresh eggs, bacon, sausage and vegetables all produced by our local farmers. Bring your staff, sales team or co-workers and see what this event can do for you. The cost is $10, and you can RSVP by going to jeffersoncountychambermaster.com/events/details/coffee-and-connections-1132 “Coffee & Connections” truly represents what the Chamber is all about — local businesses and organizations promoting their products, services and programs, networking with and learning from fellow business professionals and nurturing an environment of working together to make the local business community bigger, better and stronger.

Safety Council Recap Safety Council Recap – January, February, March 2017
The January Safety Council luncheon featured guest speaker Mark Morrow from the local chapter of American Red Cross. Mark is a certified Red Cross trainer for CPR, AED, and first aid. He discussed the importance of CPR and AED training in the workplace. Lunch was catered by Manfred’s. With his partnership, the Chamber is offering two training classes on Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED. This course will prepare attendees to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants. The training will be offered on April 5 and Oct. 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. You only need to attend one class to finish the training. The cost is $95 per person for Chamber members and $115 for non-Chamber members. Space is limited and reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact Casey Peters, Jefferson County safety manager, by calling (740) 282-6226 for information. February brought Rob Herrington, director of Jefferson County 911 and chief of Wintersville Fire & Rescue. Herrington discussed the day-to-day operations of Jefferson County’s emergency response and communication systems, which serve 55 local public safety agencies. He provided important safety information that can be applied to businesses and discussed haz-
mat and technical rescue response teams. The agency’s hightech, mobile communication truck was on-site and open for tours. Lunch was catered by Manfred’s. The March luncheon featured guest speaker Greg Safran with the topic “Keys to a Healthy Safety Culture.” Safran is the ASC chief officer at SafT Integration, a losscontrol and safety-consulting firm he launched in 2013 to make a difference in the lives of employers and their employees. Through his vision and guidance, SafT Integration has built a highly respected reputation by exercising passion to help a variety of industries in the region including heavy manufacturing, plastic injection, environmental and steel welding and fabrication to reach new heights in safety results and culture improvements. His approach leads to better safety communication, participation, awareness, teamwork and knowledge at all levels of organizations, consistently leading to improved, adjusted or completely changed safety cultures. Lunch was catered by Manfred’s. The Jefferson County Safety Council is a longtime program administered by the Chamber in cooperation with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. Nearly 130 local businesses are members and save on their workers’ compensation premiums by attending monthly informational luncheons and submitting biannual forms documenting safety statistics from their workplace. The monthly luncheons are open to all Safety Council members, Chamber members and their employees, and the general public. They are held the third Wednesday of each month at Eastern Gateway Community College. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. followed by a catered lunch and presentation from noon to 1 p.m. The cost is $15 per person.
