The NATO Industrial Advisory Group (NIAG) is a high-level consultative and advisory body of senior industrialists of NATO member countries, acting under the Conference of National Armaments Directors (CNAD), with the aims of: • Providing a forum for free exchange of views on industrial, technical, economic, management and other relevant aspects of research, development and production of armament equipment within the Alliance; based on current and updated information provided by relevant NATO bodies; • Providing industry's advice to the CNAD on how to foster government-toindustry and industry-to-industry armaments co-operation within the Alliance; • Providing optimal use of NIAG resources to assist Main Armaments Groups, and their subordinate bodies, in exploring opportunities for international collaboration, and seeking timely and efficient ways to satisfy NATO military requirements.
Grupul consultativ industrial al NATO (NIAG) este un organism consultativ la nivel înalt al industriașilor de rang înalt din țările membre NATO, care acționează în cadrul Conferinței directorilor naționali de armament (CNAD), cu obiectivele: • Furnizarea unui forum pentru schimbul liber de opinii cu privire la aspectele industriale, tehnice, economice, de management și alte aspecte relevante ale cercetării, dezvoltării și producției de echipamente de armament în cadrul Alianței; pe baza informațiilor actuale și actualizate furnizate de organismele NATO relevante; • Furnizarea de consiliere din partea industriei către CNAD cu privire la modul de încurajare a cooperării în armament între guvern și industrie și între industrie în cadrul Alianței; • Oferirea unei utilizări optime a resurselor NIAG pentru a ajuta grupurile principale de armament și organismele lor subordonate în explorarea oportunităților de colaborare internațională și în căutarea unor modalități rapide și eficiente de a satisface cerințele militare NATO. Introduction The NATO Industrial Advisory Group (NIAG) provides a link to the NATO nations’ defence industries through which the industrial viewpoint and industrial technology development could be included in the work of the NATO. The NIAG is composed of high-level industrial representatives of the member nations, each of them acting as a focal point and spokesperson for his/her national defence and security industries and associations. NATO recognizes the need of a close involvement with the industry, not least to: 1. assist the development of military capability requirements and the fielding of interoperable solutions. 2. foster the Trans-Atlantic defence technological and industrial cooperation. 3. provide advice on the adoption of open source standards.
