County schools have new board zones The Des Arc and Hazen School Districts now have new zones due to the recent population report that came from the 2020 census. Every ten years a census of city and county residents is taken creating the need to adjust school zones. The number of zones is determined by combining areas according a fixed number of residents. The Hazen District lost two zones, going down from seven zones to five, which created the need to add two at-large members. The population in the district has decreased according to the census. The Des Arc district had no change in the number of zones and already has two at-large members. The Des Arc population has increased.

ship, and the removal of barriers to that ownership will strengthen our economy. The new cash crop of Arkansas lies in the production, distribution and marketing of hemp, cannabis and CBD. These products are in great demand. It is imperative that Arkansas farmers have the freedom to grow cannabis and hemp to reap the revenue from a proven renewable natural resource. We should enhance our revenue streams by legalizing, taxing and regulating cannabis and industrial hemp production. This will help keep our economy growing and provide the jobs and revenue to keep Arkansas fiscally strong for future generations." Carlisle Bison win three at Mike Volz Memorial Classic By Mark Buffalo The Carlisle Bison baseball team picked up three wins during the Mike Volz Memorial Classic in south Arkansas. The Bison beat traditional power Parker’s Chapel 3-0, Maumelle Charter 9-1 and Hermitage 15-1. In the win over Parker’s Chapel, the game was scoreless until the fifth inning when the Bison scored once. They added two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Jonathan Pickard, Joe Cook and David Hayes each scored runs. Pickard led the Bison with 2 hits. Holden Jones and Noah Seidenschwarz had one hit apiece. Dalton Ward got the win, allowing only 2 hits in 6 innings of work. He struck out 5 in the victory. “That was a pretty big game for our kids,” Carlisle coach Steven Tew said. “We try not to pay too much to rankings but all kinda see them. Anytime you get to play a team ranked in the spot ahead of you, I think it probably adds to your motivation a little. It was one of those games where both teams just played really well, I thought.” Tew said Ward continues to pitch well for the Bison. “He continues to give us good chances to beat teams,” Tew said. “We had to battle all day offensively agains then but we never backed down. Noah was able to get just enough on one to loop one down the line to score the goahead run.” In the win over Maumelle Charter, the Bison led 2-1 after one inning and 3-1 after two. The Bison plated 5 runs in the third and one in the fifth to get the win. Eli Robers led the Bison with 3 runs scored. Pickard scored twice. Also scoring were
Jones, Ward, Hayes and Nick Webb. Roberts and Pickard led the Bison with 2 hits a piece. Also collecting hits were Jones, Zach Busic, Ward and Hayes. Jones got the win, giving up only 1 run and 1 hit in 5 innings of work. He struck out 11. “I was a little worried about our hitting since we weren’t going to see the velocity we had seen the day before, but it didn’t take us long to adjust. Ward hit a missile for a home run, then later in the same inning, Pickard hit a grand slam. Holden continued to command the game on the mound.” In the win over Hermitage, the Bison led 8-1 after one inning. They scored 3 runs in the third and four in the fourth. Roberts led the Bison, going 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBIs. Also scoring 2 runs were Gabe Boyle, Cook and Jones. Also scoring runs were Pickard, Busick, James Sullivan, Seidenschwarz and Hayes. The Bison used 3 pitchers in the victory. Hayes went 2 innings, striking out 4 while giving up one unearned run.“At the beginning of the tournament, we talked about our goal was to go 3-0,” Tew said. “Since we got complete games from Dalton and Holden in our first two games, it set up our pitching nicely for game 3, which gave us a massive advantage. David Hayes has been restig a little soreness in his arm, so he threw two innings and looked real good on the mound. We were also able to give Joe a break and not have him catch three straight games by putting Gabe Boyle behind the plate. I thought he did a great job as well. “Overall, it was a good three games straight for us as we move forward into a pretty tough portion of our schedule.”

Entergy Arkansas eTech offers cash rebates LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – Entergy Arkansas will provide cash rebates through its new eTech initiative to customers who purchase one or more electric technologies, ranging from forklifts and cranes to golf carts and electric vehicle chargers. “We’re taking our commitment to providing safe, reliable service at affordable rates to all Entergy Arkansas customers to a higher level with the greatest efficiencies, while managing greenhouse gas emissions and providing options that customers desire with our new eTech program,” said Laura Landreaux, Entergy Arkansas president and CEO.Known as
a beneficial electrification program in the industry, eTech will be available to any eligible Entergy Arkansas customer, from residential to commercial. The Arkansas Public Service Commission last week approved the program, in which Entergy Arkansas will provide cash rebates for 14 qualified technologies, including forklifts; truck refrigeration units; school and transit buses; drayage trucks; electrical vehicle chargers; digital billboards; scissor, boom and man lifts; scrubbers and sweepers; golf cars and people movers; cranes; and airport ground support pushbacks, tug and tow tractors, belt loaders and
power units. For example, an electric single class-one forklift can be expected to reduce the total amount of resources used by that forklift by approximately $8,046 using electric power as compared to other resources, such as gasoline, diesel, propane, etc. in addition to a $250-$500 cash rebate for purchasing an electric machine. The program would also benefit customers who choose an electric vehicle for transportation. Such vehicles are an attractive option for savings because of reduced maintenance, lower fuel cost, less noise, and lower emissions. For example, charging an EV with a 200-mile
range (assuming a fully depleted 66 kWh battery) at a residence will cost about $7 to reach a full charge, based on the Entergy Arkansas rate of 11 cents per kWh. Additionally, an electric vehicle is estimated to save $2,566 over the lifetime of the vehicle in net costs. Entergy’s eTech EV charger rebate helps defray the cost of installing a home or workplace charger, which amounts to $250 per plug for a level 2 charger and up to $1,500 for a DC fast charger. Entergy Arkansas customers can access technical and application support and apply now for the rebates at www.entergyetech.com within 90 days of purchase.
