AgHeritage holds customer appreciation luncheon at Brinkley Convention Center Carole Nadine Felts Pool Carole Nadine (Felts) Pool, 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, J e s u s Christ, Sunday morning at 7 a.m. at her h o m e . Carole had fought a brave, 5-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease, which stole most of her physical strength but never her spirit. She praised and worshipped her Lord faithfully throughout her ordeal, while her children diligently cared for her. Carole was born Aug. 4, 1937 in Des Arc to Floyd and Fannie Felts. She graduated from Des Arc High School in 1955 and then moved to California where she got a job with Hughes Aircraft. Soon, she felt the Lord calling her to attend Bible College in Baxter Springs, Kansas, where she met and married the love of her life, Elbert Pool, from Spearman, Texas. After Bible College, Elbert and Carole spent a year doing evangelistic work and then assumed the pastorate at Gospel Mission Church in Des Arc in 1958. They faithfully shepherded their congregation there for the next 50 years. Carole was a true

Proverbs 31 woman and helpmate to her husband. Together they raised six children, went on multiple mission trips, and impacted more people in the community than one could begin to count. She is survived by her husband, Elbert Pool; siblings, Bonnie Reid, Glenda (Leroy Gales), Jimmy (Deanna Felts); six children, Angela Dohm, Carla (David) Smith, Linda (Pat) Skarda, Brenda (Allen) Childress, Deborah (Scott) Skarda, John (Jamie) Pool; 17 grandchildren, Micah (Candace) Smith, Casey (Leah) Skarda, Caleb (Amanda) Smith, Corey (Candace) Skarda, Lucas (Carrie) Childress, Hannah (Noah) Williams, Kelcie (Tyler) Huffstickler, Abram (Courtney) Skarda, Adam (Katelyn) Skarda, Levi (Carrie) Childress, Jordan (Amanda) Smith, Audrey (Drew) Mitchell, Heidi (Jordan) Pierce, Lauren (Harrison) Cush, Andrew Pool, Alyssa Dohm, Matthew Pool; and 33 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Fannie Felts; her siblings, Roy Douglas, Aimee Riehle, Emma Jean Cate, Mary Johnson; and greatgranddaughter, Elly Jane Smith. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, and her Homegoing Service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10. Both will be at Gospel Mission Church. Burial will be in Felts Family Cemetery.

site is keeping the land free of modern debris. Not only does that keep the environment clean and tidy, but it also helps with archeological research. You can help save history by joining park staff and other volunteers in removing modern artifacts (better known as trash) off of the site. Those who are interested may help to beautify and protect this prehis-

toric site through litter pick up, garden maintenance, or limb debris removal. To participate in this year’s cleanup, please contact the park to let us know you are interested in helping. Volunteers should meet at the Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park visitor center to sign in and receive further instructions. Supplies such as trash

bags, tools, and safety vests are provided. Some gloves are available but volunteers are welcome to bring their own. This year’s local cleanup is sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, Keep America Beautiful and Keep Arkansas Beautiful Foundation.

The second week of play brought another win for the Carlisle Bison at home as they prevailed 58-14 over Johnson County Westside's Rebels. The Bison first score with a 58-yard pass from Moody to Carter, followed by Taylor scoring the 2-point conversion with 6:16 to go in the first half. Carlisle’s defense takes the field and promptly halts the Rebels. The Bison quickly score again on a 76yard run by Taylor and 2-point conversion from Parker with 5:40 on the clock. The Rebels’ next offensive drive results in an interception by Bison Sophomore Mikey Freeby. Carter then runs in a touchdown which is called back due to a holding penalty by Taylor. A few plays later the Bison capitalize on the turnover as Taylor rushes 2 yards to score. Carlisle ends the first quarter 22-0. While JCW does make

positive gains on their next drive, Carlisle’s defense stands strong to hold them scoreless early early in the second quarter. After the ball goes over on downs, Jinks rushes 21 yards for a first down. On the next play, Taylor again bursts through the Rebels’ defense with a 65-yard carry bringing the score to 28-0. Westside's offense takes the field and utilizes 2 other players to get the ball back into QB Bryant’s hands with a 38-yard pass. JCW proceeds to score on a 5-yard keeper by Bryant putting 6 on the board as the 2-point conversion fails. Jinks returns the kickoff, and the Bison take over near midfield. Moody passes to Mills for a 53-yard touchdown just 21 seconds after the Rebels score. Carter runs in the 2point conversion on a toss from Moody, bringing the score to 36-6. As the Bison kickoff, the Rebels’ recover their own fumble. JCW's luck stops there as Carlisle forces a punt after dropping them in the backfield. The Bison again score quickly as Moody hands off to Jinks who rushes 61yards for a touchdown.

Taylor scores the 2-point conversion bringing the score to 44-6 as halftime approaches. The second half passes quickly with the mercy rule in place. To start the third, Jinks returns the kickoff for the Bison. Webb and Parker each have a few carries leading up to Webb’s 14-yard rushing touchdown. The two-point conversion attempt is no good. The Bison defense once again keeps the Rebels from scoring on their brief possession. The Bison lead 50-6 going into the fourth quarter. The Rebels take over on downs during the fourth and successfully move the ball to score on a 7yard keeper by Bryant. Estep scores the 2-point conversion to bring Westside up to 14 points. Carter receives the Rebels' kickoff and runs it back 73-yards to put up Carlisle’s final touchdown of the night. Parker runs in his second 2-point conversion for the night making the final score Carlisle 58, JCW 14. Next week in their first away game, the Bison travel to DeWitt to face the Dragons in their homecoming game.

Sophomore Gage Parker (40) on his first of two 2point conversions.
