Prairie County EHC leaders attend U of A Extension training on Arkansas ballot issues The Prairie County Extension Service hosted a training on the 2018 Arkansas ballot issues for Extension Homemakers Club (EHC) members on August 28 in the county courthouse in DeValls Bluff. Kristin Higgins from the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Public Policy Center conducted the training. The training was provided to help county EHC members understand how issues get on the ballot in Arkansas and what the passing of each of the ballot issues would mean to Arkansas citizens. Higgins emphasized that voters need to use critical thinking skills to avoid misinformation or disinformation concerning the ballot issues. She said that Arkansans should determine who is behind the information about each issue, what the evidence for their position is, and what other sources say about the issue. She offered three online sources for ballot information: the Extension Service website (www.uaex.edu/balot), the Arkansas Secretary of State’s Voter View (www.voterview.arnova.org), and the Arkansas Ethics C o m m i s s i o n (222.arkansasethics.com). The Extension website lists the major donors for
