New Bethel News By Donna Kelly We had a nice service this morning. A nice group came in for the preaching service. We were sorry to hear Tommy Martin was in the hospital, at Spring Hill, he was a little better this morning but had a close call. James Scott’s wife who has been in the nursing home for some time was quiet serious. We are remembering them in prayers. John and I are doing very well. I feel much better as I went to doctor 3 times and got medicine We have appreciated the cooler weather, will be around for a while I suppose. We missed Chuck and Denise Greenwalt this morning, as they were at the hospital with Tommy. Everyone seems to be busy with children in school and all of their activities. Everyone around our part of town have been busy remolding houses. They are either building or remolding. There is alot of noise going on.
Had a call from Charles, he hasn't felt well lately. Sorry we haven’t had much lately. Haven’t heard from Charlene lately. She was moving and probably getting settled in to a new community and all. Wishing everyone a pleasant week and everyone will be feeling better. We were glad to see Phillip Boothe, Janet and daughter back. They are very busy but doing good.
Thank You The family of Markoleta Black of Hazen wish to express our sincere thanks for the many acts of kindness shown our family as we mourn the loss of our loved one. A special thank you to Hospice and fellow church members of St. Peter's Episcopal Church Tollville, St. Albans in Stuttgart, Grace Church of Pine Bluff and Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen. Sincerely the, Arnold Black and Family

That Ol’ Smokey the Bear is so lucky because he gets to hug all the pretty ladies! This time he is hugging a 17 year veteran of the Clerk’s Office. Her experience and abilities are well known assets.
As we near the day, Tuesday, November 8, 2016, when the General Election will be conducted, please consider marking your ballot for Gaylon Hale. She is quick to express her appreciation for the support she has found during her campaign and we think it would be very difficult to find a more qualified individual to do the complex work required of a Circuit/County Clerk. It’s serious business and we need someone in that office who brings a practical working knowledge to the job that only years of hands-on experience can provide.
Please vote for Gaylon Hale. Paid for by the Committee to Elect Gaylon Hale
Please vote for Tamara and please accept her gratitude for your support. She expresses it often. Ad paid for by the Committee to Elect Tamara Forester Dabney.
Candidate for the office of Prairie County Treasurer, Tamara Forrester Dabney was having a great time at the Rice Festival in Hazen on Saturday October 29th, 2016. Her message to Miss Princess Rice and other friends who stopped by her booth encouraged all to be sure and vote, either early or on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. The beautiful weather on Saturday made her smile even warmer while her years of experience, qualifications, work ethic and eagerness to go to work for the people of Prairie County pretty well says it all. She is a genuine sincere person who we think can do an outstanding job in the Treasurer’s office.

4 Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. 2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”[a] made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on 7:00 PM Children's Program 7:00 PM "HYPE" Youth 7:00 PM Center Point MB Church RR 1, Center Point Road, Hazen, AR Pastor Gary Malone Sunday School: 10 AM Worship: 11 AM BTC: 6 PM - Worship: 7 PM Wednesday - Youth Night 7 PM First United Methodist Church 211 North Hazen Avenue, Hazen, AR Phone (870) 255 - 4657 Pastor Carolyn Doering Sunday School: 9:45 AM Worship Service: 10:55 AM
every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. 13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.”[b] Since we have that same spirit of[c] faith, we also believe and therefore speak, 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body

5 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by

we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. The Ministry of Reconciliation 11 Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience. 12 We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart. 13 If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. 14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died 10:30 A.M., 6 P.M. for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. 16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Senior Hornets Gain Victory Over Marvell
The Hazen Hornets managed to pull out a win Friday as they battled the Marvell Mustangs at Marvell. This 30-24 win makes things quite clear for the Hornets as they go into this week; a win means a spot in the playoffs and a loss means the season comes to an end for Hazen. Although the Hornets got the ball first and managed to move down the field, a fumble ended the drive and gave the Mustangs scoring opportunity. In a few plays they did just that, followed by a failed conversion. Down 0-6, Hazen this time punted away the ball to Marvell. The Hornets were able to stop the Mustangs this time, though, with freshman Terrell Penn scoring on a short run. With a good conversion, Hazen was on the board 8-6. The Mustangs then answered with another touchdown, followed by another no-
good conversion. With a score of 8-12, the Hornets drove down the field again with Jacob Weems finding the end-zone on a keeper. The Hornets then scored a good conversion which put them back up 16-12. This time, Marvell failed against the Hazen defense and turned the ball over on downs. With seconds remaining in the half, Toll finds Pargo far downfield for the third Hornet touchdown of the night. Another conversion and Hazen was up 24-12 against the Mustangs. In the third quarter, a backand-forth between the two teams eventually ended when Marvell scored another touchdown but still no conversion. This gave the Hornets ball but cut into their lead 24-18. Not until the fourth quarter did Hazen score again with a short run by freshman Ay'Jon Green. A failed conversion set the score at 30-18. Junior Minor managed to intercept the ball from
Marvell, ending their drive. A Hornet fumble then ended their drive, giving the ball back to Marvell. This time, an interception by Lucas Walker gave the Hornets ball again, but they quickly fumbled back to the Mustangs. Marvell managed to score this drive, and the failed conversion made it a onescore game at 30-24. The Mustangs then recovered their own onside kick, giving them a chance to tie or even take the lead. They failed, however, and Hazen was able to keep the ball secure for the rest of the game. This victory is crucial as the Hornets try to make their way to the playoffs. A loss would have definitely put them out, but this fact still remains in effect this week. Hazen will attempt to win and extend their season this Thursday as they travel to Palestine-Wheatley to play the Patriots.
Junior Hornets Dominate Final Game of the Season The Hazen Junior Hornets played their final game of the season last Thursday against the Marvell Mustangs at Hazen. Although giving up more points than any game in years, this 48-36 win ends the Hornet season and earns them the title of back-to-back undefeated conference champions. As always, the Hornets got off to a great start Thursday as Keshawn Gray quickly ran into the end-zone. Two points later and Hazen was up 8-0. After holding Marvell for the rest of the quarter, the Hornets get going again in the second quarter as Atkins runs his way to score. After the good conversion, the score was set at 16-0 for Hazen. Atkins soon ran for the touchdown again, this time followed by a failed conversion, for a score of 22-0. With a comfortable
lead, Gray scored his second touchdown of the night. Another failed 2point try and the Hornets were up 28-0 until after the half. In the third quarter, the Mustangs managed to return a fumble for a touchdown against Hazen, followed by a good conversion. With the score 28-8, the Hornets retaliated and allowed Rasheed Mills a touchdown of his own. With two more points, Hazen was back up 36-8. The Mustang offense decided it had had enough and managed to find the end-zone against the Hornets. After the failed conversion, they cut still cut into the Hornet lead 36-14. It was Hazen's turn then as Gray scored his last touchdown of the season. After the failed extra-point attempt, the score was set at 42-14. In the fourth quarter, Marvell managed to
upset the Hornet defense and score twice in a row, with a conversion on one touchdown for a score of 42-28. Hazen manages to score once more with Harris, and the failed conversion put them up 48-28. The Mustangs, though, managed to get the last word, scoring a final touchdown, no conversion, for a final score of 48-36. With this victory, the Hazen Hornets accomplish an achievement earned only by the best of football teams: undefeated conference champion status two years in a row. Along with a winning streak of 19 games, they have truly outperformed their opponents and even themselves these last two seasons. Congratulations on their winning season, and good luck as they try for it again next year.
