E XPERIENCING SLOWER WEIGHT LOSS ? H ERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS YOU CAN ASK YOURSELF !
Are you still weighing and measuring your food? – Check to see! Many of us have discovered our estimation of ‘one cup’ or ‘5oz’ has grown over time. Are you ensuring you are having breakfast within an hour of getting up? The strength of your metabolism for the day relies heavily on having a complete, early breakfast! Do your snacks ever exceed three hours?? To keep your metabolism burning through the day, you must be eating every three hours. If you do not you run the risk of slowing or completely shutting down your metabolism, and thus storing the rest of the food you consume that day. As well, the longer you go without food, the higher your chances of eating bigger quantities of the wrong foods. Have you tried focusing on foods that are low on the Glycemic Index? A Glycemic Index chart is on the last page of your Food Planner. The GI Chart rates a diverse amount of foods with a number – the lower the number, the less natural sugars in the food. By selecting foods with lower GI’s you can help to expedite your weight loss!
How often are your visits? Our numbers show, some of our most successful clients are the ones that visit the centre the most frequently. Consider increasing your visits to increase your weight loss ~ we keep you accountable!

For example 1 cream in a small coffee is 35 calories, whereas 1 cream in a medium coffee is 40. A large double-double adds up to 230 calories, 12 g of fat, 50 mg of sodium, 26g of carbohydrates, and 26g of sugar!!!!!! Write it down! Are you consuming items that you are omitting from your diary? Foods can easily slip back into your diet that you are not necessarily accounting for. For example: BBQ Sauce, Soya Sauce, Salad Dressings??? Salt?? Taco Kits? Ketchup? Pickles? Etc. Are you drinking calories you’re not accounting for? Juices, regular pop, cream
Are you participating in any kind of heavy exercise? Be sure to let a Personal Coach know if you are. You may be trading body fat % for toned and tightened muscle! How often are you eating out? Though some meals out at restaurants may seem like they are on program, dining out will increase the amount of sodium and fats present in your food which are naked to the eye. For your benefit, reduce the frequency with which you eat out.
Magic Cuisine Cookbook Recipe of the Month..
Spinach Salad
- 6 cups fresh spinach leaves, stems removed - 1 cup mushrooms, thinly sliced - 1 cup red onion rings, thinly sliced - 3 navel oranges, peeled and sectioned - 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice - 1 garlic clove, minced - 1 tbsp white vinegar - Black pepper to taste Toss spinach, mushrooms, onion rings and half of the arrange sections together in a large bowl and set aside. Blend remaining half of the navel oranges with lemon juice, garlic, white vinegar and pepper together. Transfer to a small bowl and microwave until quite warm. Divide salad among six serving plates and drizzle the warm dressing on top. Serves Six. One Serving: 1 Vegetable, ½ Fruit Enjoy!!

DID YOU KNOW??? Did you know that recent studies reveal that bingeing today on sweets can make them harder to resist tomorrow? Sugar floods your brain with dopamine (a hormone that makes you much happier and more relaxed) in much of the same way an opiate drug would. But when the sugar is gone, your brain demands more, causing intense cravings that can last up to two weeks. Do you know about high fructose corn syrup? – fructose is a type of sugar and is present in fruit juice and regular sodas. Fructose actually turns to fat with surprising speed, and is associated with faster than normal weight gain! It lowers leptin, a hormone that reduces your appetite by making you feel full – while at the same time increasess another hormone called ghrelin, which makes you hungry. Did you know that lack of sleep can also wreak havoc on your leptin and ghrelin levels? Much like with high fructose corn syrup, a lack of adequate sleep can cause these hormones to confuse your body into believing it is more hungry than it actually is. Further, without adequate sleep your body has a more difficult time metabolizing carbohydrates. Ultimately, a slower metabolism results in the storage of fat. Most researchers agree that these dangers are triggered when people get as little as 6-7 hours of sleep a night! A minimum of 8 hours of sleep per night is recommended.
