Dear Reader, Cargill Voice is back to share with you more exciting and interesting Cargill China stories! You will read highlights of Expo Cargill Day (page 12-22). As the largest event in China this year, the 2010 Shanghai Expo is in the world’s focus. On June 18, Cargill, as USA pavilion sponsor, celebrated with guests and employees Cargill Day at the Expo Park. Through engaging in this historical event, Cargill wanted to reiterate its commitment to building a better life in China by utilizing its global experience and expertise to support more modernized agriculture and industry, safer food and more harmonious communities. The cover picture captures the moment when Tibetan girls are interacting with Haibao at Cargill Day. Cargill is committed to a long term development in China. This year, Cargill’s first flavor manufacturing plant in China started operation in Pinghu Zhejiang province and it also opened Asia’s largest arachidonic acid facility in Hubei province. 2010年,上海世博会成为中国最大的看点,这个史上规模最大的世博会,预计在半年的时间里吸引7000万人参 观。2009年,嘉吉宣布赞助美国馆,2010年6月,嘉吉在世博园庆贺嘉吉日,支持中国成功举办世博会。嘉吉更 通过运用全球化的经验和专长来支持中国农业、食品和工业的发展,从而支持中国创建更美好生活。嘉吉中国区 总裁安博泰做客《面对面》分享他对此的看法和嘉吉中国2020年的美好远景。 In the year of 2010, the Shanghai World Expo is the hottest topic in China. It is the world’s largest expo in history, expecting over 70 million visitors in 6 months. In 2009, Cargill became a sponsor for the USA National Pavilion. In June of this year,

it celebrated Cargill Day at the Expo Park to highlight Cargill’s commitment to the success of this historical event in China.

Cargill is utilizing its global experience and expertise to support agricultural, food and industrial development, thereby helping build a better life in China. In the Dialogue section, Cargill China President Robert Aspell shares his insights on how Cargill can support a better life in China and Cargill China’s aspirations for 2020.

Cargill Voice: The key theme in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo represents people’s common wish for a better life. What’s Cargill’s role in supporting a better life in China? Robert: A better life depends on improved diets produced by a sustainable agricultural system and a safe food supply. Therefore, through sharing global experience and expertise on food safety and modern agriculture, we could help build a better life in China. China is going through an agriculture modernization process. Cargill is actively engaged in rural area development, we provide farmer training on advanced breeding technologies and modern farm management, we offer job opportunities nearby rural areas, and we help promote rural environment sustainability. We hope to create value for farmers and make their lives better. Going forward, we are quite optimistic for Chinese economy in the next 10 years, but there will be challenges, such as food security, it is one of key issues for the government to maintain economic growth momentum. Therefore, Cargill’s role is to contribute to China’s food security through providing reliable supply chain solutions, improving food safety and supporting modern agriculture. This is a very good alignment with China’s strategic interest on how to make people’s lives better. Cargill Voice: Is supporting a better life in China one of Cargill’s principle commitments in the next 10 years? How can Cargill foster this commitment and support China’s growth? Robert: Yes. Cargill is committed to China for the long term. We need to think about how Cargill’s strategies will support China’s economic growth in the next 10 years. Therefore, we have put together a team from business units and functions to discuss a China 2020 initiative for Cargill. Cargill Voice: It sounds like China 2020 will bring significant ideas to Cargill’s growth plan in China. Can you elaborate more on that? Robert: China 2020 is to create alignment between what we believe China will look like in the coming decade and how Cargill can contribute to China’s growth and development. We are coming together to discuss what our aspirations are for 2020, and then we will look at our businesses to assess whether they are equipped to meet the goals. Given the size of China’s population and economic growth in the next 10 years, I am not shocked to think that 20% of Cargill’s capital investment should be in the country. However, Cargill China today is not equipped to support such a large amount of investment. This is what we are discussing in China 2020.

Do you know how to select high quality and safe pork? Cargill Animal Nutrition (Purina) Jiaxing Co., Ltd (Jiaxing Company) gives you a good answer. In September 2009 and April 2010, the company launched two certificated pork sale promotion campaigns in supermarkets in Taizhou, Zhejiang province and Dongtai, Jiangsu province.

CarVal Launches Fashion Landmark in Shanghai On August 4, 2010, the Yu Fashion Garden, a modern shopping center run by CarVal Investors (CarVal), opened in Shanghai after a one-year renovation. It is a new fashion landmark in Shanghai that blends cultures from both the East and the West. Capitalizing on the advantage of unique historical background and convenient geographical location, the Yu Garden commercial area, the large-scale retail complex located at the old town Shanghai is set to become a must-go destination for tourists from home and abroad. CarVal, in cooperation with INSITE Asset Management Co. Ltd, launched renovation works of the Yu Fashion Garden, to offer consumers a one-stop shopping experience by creating modern spaces for fashion, leisure and diversity of cuisines. Talking about the repositioned Yu Fashion Garden, CarVal Managing Director Avery Colcord said, “We expect to see our new shopping center to bring some fashion elements to the traditional Yu Garden commercial area.” CarVal’s repositioning strategy certainly enjoys success. Up till now, leading fashion brands including ZARA, H&M, Mark Fairwhale and Motivi have opened up stores in the Yu Fashion Garden. Famous restaurants including Ding Tai Fun, Bi Feng Tang and American icecream brand Häagen-Dazs have built their presence at the shopping center. Collaborate>Create>Success 1st session of Cargill China Customer Summit held in Hangzhou Flora Li Cargill Starches and Sweeteners Asia Shanghai The first session of Cargill China Customer Summit was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province this May. Nearly 60 Cargill colleagues and delegates from the country’s renowned food and beverage manufacturers joined the event. Themed “collaborate, create, succeed”, this event is aimed to enhance mutual understanding between Cargill and its partners, to discuss market trend in food industry as well as to share innovation experiences.

本次峰会取得了圆满的成功,许多参会者均表示这 次会议不仅提供了很好的交流平台,也让大家了解 并学习了有关食品行业及食品安全管理方面的最新 信息,并希望今后能多参与此类活动,提供更多的 相互交流和学习的机会。

Cargill business units strengthened cooperation and communications through this event. 8 business units attended this event including Starches & Sweeteners Asia, Health and Nutrition, Texturizing Solutions, Refined Oil Asia, Sugar, Grain & Oilseed Supply Chain Greater China & Korea and Toshoku. At the summit, Qu Hongbin, an economist from HSBC was invited to give analysis on global and China’s economic growth. Bao Dayue, a senior official from China’s Ministry of Health vividly delivered a speech on China’s food safety regulations and policies. In addition, Cargill Asia Pacific President Bram Klaeijsen gave a speech on Cargill’s corporate culture while several business unit representatives introduced development of businesses. The summit received lots of positive feedbacks from participants, with some of them commenting it offered a good platform for communications and also provided an opportunity for them to learn latest information on food industry and food safety management.

人员安全高于一切 缪毅华 嘉吉谷物与油籽价值链大中华与韩国 南通 马洁玮 嘉吉谷物与油籽价值链大中华与韩国 上海 人员安全高于一切, 对于嘉吉而言,这并不是一句空洞的口号。这也是嘉吉公司旗下 的嘉达港务南通有限公司(以下简称“嘉达”)向港口工作人员传递的首要信息。 2010年6月,嘉达开始租赁运营位于南通经济技术开发区某港口资产,该港口毗邻 嘉吉粮油(南通)有限公司,是各类原料到港及当地产品输出的重要枢纽。

在租赁港口资产的前三天,嘉达对港口工作员工(包括嘉吉员工、所有服务商及承 包商派驻码头工作的人员)进行了安全培训,并开始在港口生产区域内普及和执行 嘉吉EHS相关要求及规程。同时,为配合各项安全规程的落实,港口团队在现场做 了大量的改造和完善,并结合一些创新解决方案,在港口添置了很多新设施。 最初港口人员对这些改变有些不适应,但随着安全生产系数的提升、安全设施的完 善、生产操作流程的规范,大家逐渐意识到这些都是嘉吉切实为员工生命安全着想 而做出的努力。嘉吉始终坚持和贯彻以人为本的安全理念,将员工的生命安危放在 高于一切的位置。秉承嘉吉严格的安全理念和操作规程,嘉达致力于最大程度发挥 码头资源,为将来进一步深化与港口的合作而不断努力。

Safety is Top Priority Miao Yihua Cargill Grain & Oilseeds Supply Chain-Greater China & Korea Nantong Grace Ma Cargill Grain & Oilseeds Supply Chain-Greater China & Korea Shanghai Safety is top priority: this is the first message that Cargill’s Carda Port Nantong Co. Ltd (Carda) sends to employees. In June 2010, Carda commenced rental operation of a port in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone. Neighboring Cargill Grain & Oilseeds (Nantong) Co Ltd, the port is a major hub for imports and exports for the city. For the first three days before Cargill took over management of the port, it carried out safety training for all the relevant parties including Cargill employees, service providers and contractors. The company also began to implement Cargill’s Environment, Health and Safety policy in the port’s operation areas. Meanwhile, to ensure correct execution of safety procedures, Carda made a lot of renovation and improvement work at the port, introducing new safety equipment together with some innovative solutions.

Although employees were hesitant to embrace the changes at the port at first, significant improvement with respect to safety equipment and more standardized operation procedures gradually convinced them of Cargill’s strong commitment to employees’ safety. Strictly following Cargill’s safety policy and implementing international safety standards, Carda is committed to creating values for the port and seeking further cooperation with the port in the future.

亚洲最大ARA工厂与客户分享食品安全经验 韩怀强/桑忠厚 嘉吉健康与营养 湖北武汉 7月22 日,伊利集团代表团一行31人参观了嘉吉烯王生物工程(武汉)有限公 司花生四烯酸(ARA)湖北新工厂,并交流了食品安全等相关话题。 参观过程中,嘉吉烯王与伊利的代表们分享了食品安全质量管理体系和经验, 包括引进嘉吉全球标准的食品安全政策,采用环境微生物检测和监控方法,每 月定期对员工进行食品安全培训等。伊利代表团对嘉吉烯王的食品安全管理予 以了认可和赞许。 嘉吉烯王一直致力于与合作伙伴和客户分享全球的食品安全管理经验和技术, 帮助推动中国食品产业全球化。伊利代表团参观的新工厂,于今年3月正式投 产,是亚洲最大的ARA工厂。自投产以来,多家合作伙伴如贝因美,蒙牛等也 到工厂参观和交流食品安全管理经验。 ARA是影响大脑和视神经发育必不可少的物质,是配方奶粉中的重要成分,因 此食品安全是至关重要的。“嘉吉烯王运用GMP和HACCP等进行食品安全管 理,在从原料选择到产品交运给客户的所有环节中,进行严格的质量把控。湖 北新工厂将为我们在世界各地的客户提供高质量的产品,”嘉吉烯王副董事长 David Henstrom表示。

On July 22, a 31-member delegation team from Yili Industrial Group (Yili) visited a new arachidonic acid (ARA) facility in Hubei province owned by Cargill Alking Bioengineering (Wuhan) Co., Ltd. During the visit, Cargill Alking shared food safety management practices, including Cargill’s food safety policy, micro-organism monitoring throughout production process, as well as monthly safety trainings for employees, which won high appreciation from the Yili delegates. Cargill Alking is committed to sharing experience and expertise on food safety management with customers. Since the new facility started operation in March this year, it has received visits from many customers including Beingmate and Mengniu. The facility has become the largest ARA production base in Asia. ARA is an indispensable substance for the development of a baby’s brain and optic nerves and it is also an important ingredient in formula milk powder. Therefore food safety is paramount. “Cargill Alking adopts good manufacturing practices and HACCP, from raw material selection to product delivery to customers. The new facility will enable us to offer high quality products to customers around the world,” said David Henstrom, Vice Chairman of Cargill Alking.

Cargill Opens Flavor Manufacturing Plant in Pinghu Minna Zheng Corporate Affairs Shanghai

In March 2010, Cargill’s first flavor manufacturing plant in China started operation in Pinghu, Zhejiang province. This plant complements the existing innovation and application laboratory in Shanghai and provides local customers with more comprehensive solutions ranging from flavor creation and beverage, dairy, confectionery and bakery application, to manufacturing and supply. “The experience and expertise we accumulated in the food ingredient industry has become our advantage, enabling us to create the right taste solutions. This latest venture demonstrates our commitment in China, that is, Cargill’s global expertise will add value to local customers," said Peter Michielsen, head of Cargill Flavor Systems (CFS). The new flavor plant shares its site with Cargill’s Starches and Sweeteners facility in Pinghu. Customers will benefit from synergies in development and production and will be able to make maximum use of Cargill’s wide-ranging expertise. Andrew Tan, general manager of CFS China believes that, “The Pinghu plant redefines the business model and will make Cargill a competitive player on the Chinese flavor market.”

Cargill supplied Sterling Silver® beef to the Canada Pavilion in celebration of its National Pavilion Day at the Expo Park. Produced by Cargill’s Guelph plant in Canada, the beef won appreciation among guests, including the Canadian Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, the Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean, and Canada Beef Export Federation (CBEF) Board Chairman Gib Drury. “Canadian beef lived up to its reputation in every way, with everyone enthusiastically commenting on its delicious, high-quality taste and tenderness,” said Drury. Cargill’s Good Nature® Pork was popular in the “Taste of America” event hosted by the Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) at the USA Pavilion, which showcased diversity of the American food culture. David Gilbert, Executive Chef of the USA Pavilion expressed great interest in securing supply of the pork for the pavilion. 金钥匙计划 在客户专场,“金钥匙计划”仪式无疑是一大亮点。这项旨在帮助农民增收的计划,自去年11月启动以来,一直备受关注。在嘉 吉日,嘉吉全球高级副总裁保罗•康威,嘉吉中国区总裁安博泰,中国食品土畜进出口商会会长边振瑚和农民代表张治进,在舞台 上一起开启了“金钥匙”,从而让更多人了解嘉吉支持中国农业现代化的承诺。 回想当时的场景,来自湖南的张治进心情激动。“能够上台参与金钥匙仪式,对我来说是份荣誉。了解到这个计划会帮助更多的 农民致富,觉得嘉吉非常了不起,”他说。 张是该计划的受益者之一,过去两年间,他几乎每个月都会参加嘉吉在当地组织的免费培训。“通过培训,我知道了如何正确喂 养饲料,如何定期做养殖记录,”他表示。如今他的猪场规模已从2007年的十几头到现在460头。

在感受了振奋人心的“金钥匙”后,一个讲述嘉吉志愿者如何帮助南通农民工子弟真实故事的短片深深 打动了来宾。短片过后,画面中的志愿者和孩子们走上台,这些孩子来自于南通农民子弟学校,一起合 唱歌曲“最好的未来”。 很多来宾都被这一场景所感动,上海海关副关长陈旭东就表示:“我参加过很多公司举办的世博活动, 但令我印象最深刻的就是嘉吉日。通过这个活动,我看到嘉吉对中国社会的责任承担,这让我更愿意去 了解嘉吉。” 长期以来,嘉吉积极参与农村社区的建设和发展,包括坚持为农村的孩子们志愿支教。来自嘉吉粮油 (南通)有限公司的范丽云长期参加志愿支教,还参与了整个世博行程的安排,衣食住行,事无巨细。 “最让我开心的是,孩子们把我们当成了真正的朋友,他们喜欢和我们玩,和我们聊天,”她说。

孩子们的世博梦 和南通孩子们一起来到嘉吉日的,还有来自青海玉树的藏族孩子们。4.14 玉树地震发生后, 嘉吉承诺捐款100万人民币用于震区的灾后重建。同时嘉 吉一直关注灾区儿童的生活学习情况。对于这些孩子们来说,并没太多了 解外界的机会。为了圆孩子的世博梦,嘉吉特意邀请孩子们来到上海,展 开为期一周的世博之旅。 来自上海钢铁国际部的李晓莉说起和玉树孩子们见面的第一天,记忆犹 新:“孩子非常腼腆,不爱说话。” 于是,她主动拉起孩子的手跳起藏族 舞。“虽然比起孩子们,我舞跳得并不地道,但是我发现这样的方式拉近 了距离。后来,一位叫才仁拉毛的小姑娘就主动和我说话了,”她说。 玉树的孩子们参加嘉吉日。 Yushu children are at Cargill Day.

在上海,这些孩子第一次坐地铁,第一次吃汉堡喝可乐……对一切都充满 了好奇。来自廊坊嘉吉动物营养的陈洪富在和孩子们一周的朝夕相处当 中,俨然成了孩子们的“保镖”。他表示:“非常高兴能为这些孩子做点 事情,也希望他们学习进步,早日成为有用之才。” 孩子们非常懂事,还主动给志愿者叔叔阿姨递水喝。说起上海之行,10岁 的当求江措说:“最开心的是在世博园玩。我还和嘉吉的叔叔阿姨在广场 上比赛跑,比弯腰。”

绘出心中梦想 在嘉吉日,来宾都对现场展出的一幅幅充满想象力的绘画作品产生了兴趣。这些作品都是“更 美好生活”嘉吉中国社区儿童绘画比赛的获奖作品,作者都是普通的农村孩子。 家住广东阳江的蔡明晋是画作“都市”的作者。16岁的小蔡是聋哑人,就读于在阳江特殊教育 学校,父母是外来务工人员。绘画课是蔡明晋最喜欢的科目,但是由于家里困难,他甚至没有 自己的画笔。了解到他的情况,阳江同事特意送他一套画具并鼓励他追求自己的梦想。接过这 份礼物,小蔡激动地用手语对志愿者表示:“我长大后要成为画家。” 事实上,嘉吉阳江志愿者每个月定期去学校和孩子们一起做游戏,和孩子们建立了深厚的感 情。小蔡说,他印象最深刻的是去年过节时志愿者和他们一起包饺子,大家玩得很开心。 对此,小蔡的班主任魏震腾表示:“这些孩子更需要和外界的交流,嘉吉的志愿者给了他们很 多精神上的鼓励。”

笑一个,生活更美好 屏幕上展示的一张张灿烂笑容和舞台周围竖起的四道笑脸墙,成为现场一道 独特风景。不少同事在笑脸墙前驻足,寻找熟悉的面孔。“很多同事都在外 地,平时就是电话联系并不常见面。看到他们的笑脸,就感觉非常亲切,” 来自嘉吉税务部的康冬青说。 这些可爱的笑脸是从“笑一个,生活更美好”嘉吉世博灿烂笑容大征集活动 中精心挑选出来的。作为本次活动的技术支持,上海IT部门的顾明华负责把 照片一张一张贴在网站上供大家投票。32个工厂和办公室及海外同事的参 与,400张照片和超过8000张选票,大家的热情程度出乎小顾的意料。“本 来预计网站每天只有200-300的浏览量,结果第一天上线就破千了,”他说。 作为这个活动的参与者之一,来自嘉吉健康营养的邹志宏表示:“谁是最具 人气的笑容对我们来说并不重要,重要的是通过这个活动我们看到了嘉吉的 一种凝聚力。” 16

Expo Cargill Day Cheers to a Better Life What attracts more than 50 million visitors in more than four months? What makes people line up waiting for many hours in the searing heat? It is the 2010 Shanghai World Expo! This is the largest event in China this year. Themed “Better City, Better Life”, the Shanghai World Expo presents how technology innovation makes life more convenient, how modern architecture makes life more environmentally friendly and how exquisite artworks make life more colorful. However, behind the extensive creativity the expo brings to the city, enhancing better lives for the people of China is relying more and more on support from agricultural, food and industrial development. Being a long-time investor in China, Cargill wanted to highlight our commitment to the success of this historic event in China. On June 18 2009, Cargill became a Pavilion Partner of the USA National Pavilion, donating US$250,000 to the building of the pavilion. On the same day this year, Cargill was honored for its support at the USA Pavilion at the Expo Park. Themed as Partner with Cargill for more modern agriculture, safer food and more harmonious communities, the event vividly demonstrated one of the key messages at the Shanghai expo: better lives rely on harmonious interaction between urban and rural areas. More than 300 customers, government officials and employees gathered together in celebration of Cargill Day at the U.S Pavilion. The Golden Key Plan was firstly announced in November 2009. The first phase consists of three parts: first, Cargill will expand its training network from 21 locations to 50 in China. By 2015 the company will train an additional 500,000 farmers on advanced breeding and planting technologies. Second, Cargill will send farmers to overseas universities and advanced farms to learn more about farm management. The company will also develop young Cargill talents by offering overseas assignments to learn global technology and best-practices in its global operations. Third, Cargill will set up innovation centers, through which customers and partners can learn about Cargill’s experience and expertise, like managing risk and how to supply safe and quality stable food.

The Golden Key The Golden Key Plan ceremony was undoubtedly a highlight at the Cargill Day event. The Cargill program to help improve Chinese farmers’ incomes has drawn a great deal of attention by our stakeholders since it was announced in November last year. At Cargill Day, Cargill customers, government representatives and a farmer representative, Zhang Zhijin, launched a “Golden Key” example, which reiterates Cargill’s commitment to support modern agriculture development in China. Recalling the event, Zhang Zhijin, a farmer from Hunan Province, expressed his excitement. “It is my honor to join the ceremony. I appreciate Cargill’s commitment to helping increase Chinese farmers’ incomes,” he said. Beginning two years ago, he has been taking part in monthly farmer training programs offered by Cargill. “I’ve gotten to know how to more efficiently feed my hogs and how to keep breeding records on a regular basis,” Zhang said. In 2007, Zhang was raising only a dozen of hogs, but with Cargill’s training, he has been able to grow his operations to 460 hogs.

After the exciting “Golden Key” ceremony, guests were deeply touched by a video featuring a story about Cargill volunteers and how they are working to help migrant children in Nantong. On the stage at the Cargill Celebration, the volunteers and the kids in the video broke out into a song together. Many guests were moved by this scene, including Chen Xudong, Deputy General Director of Shanghai Customs. “Among all the company’s Expo events that I’ve attended, Cargill Day is the most impressive one. Cargill made itself an approachable and caring company by presenting its corporate social responsibility commitment, and that made me even more willing to learn more about this company,” Chen said. Cargill is actively engaged in rural development, including its support in education for rural children. Fan Liyun, with Cargill Grain & Oilseeds (Nantong) Co Ltd, is one of volunteers who are passionate to help meet rural kids’ education needs. She helped to arrange the Nantong kids’ visit to Shanghai, including preparation for their clothes, schoolbags, transportation and accommodation. “What makes me happy is that the kids think of us as their true friends. They really enjoy playing games and chatting with us,” Fan said.

Expo Dream To bring their Expo dreams come true, Cargill invited 14 rural kids from Nantong and 6 Tibetan children to have a one-week holiday in Shanghai with Cargill volunteers and join the Cargill Day celebration. After the “4.14” Yushu Earthquake, Cargill committed RMB 1 million donation to support earthquake relief efforts. Cargill is particularly concerned about the affects of the quake on the children in the hard hit area. Hazel Li, a volunteer from Cargill Ferrous International Shanghai recalled the first time she saw the children, “They were shy and didn’t speak much.” She took the lead inviting the kids to dance at the ceremony. “Although I am not that good at Tibetan dancing, we were drawn much closer by dancing together. Later on, a girl whose name is Cai Ren La Mao, came to talk with me,” she added. In Shanghai, the children experienced lots of things for the first time, like taking a subway, drinking coke and eating hamburgers. They were curious about everything they saw in the city. Chen Hongfu from Cargill Animal Nutrition Langfang became a “bodyguard” as he closely guarded the kids wherever they went. “I’m glad that I can do something for the kids,” Chen said. Talking about this Expo trip, the 10-year-old boy Dang Qiu Jiang Cuo said, “The happiest moment for me in the Expo Park was when I competed in running against the uncles and aunts from Cargill.”

儿童绘画作品表达孩子们对美好生活的憧憬。 The kids’ paintings showcase their wishes for a better life.

Painting Your Dreams Cargill Day guests were impressed by the beautiful paintings exhibited at the Cargill Day celebration. The paintings were the winners from a Cargill China community children drawing competition, themed “A Better Life”. One of the exhibited paintings “Metropolis” was submitted by Cai Mingjin from Guangdong. The 16-year-old deaf boy is attending Guangdong Yangjiang Special Education School. Both of his parents are migrant workers in Yangjiang. Painting is Cai’s favorite school course. However his family could not afford to buy him the painting supplies to join the drawing contest. Cargill volunteers sent him the painting tools to encourage him to fulfill his dreams. “I want to become a painter in the future,” Cai Mingjin told Cargill volunteers in sign language. Cargill volunteers pay regular visits to Cai’s school. Cai said the happiest thing being with the volunteers for him was that they made dumplings together during Spring Festival last year. “Compared with non-handicapped kids, they need more communication with the outside world. Cargill volunteers give them lots of encouragement spiritually,” said Wei Zhenteng, Cai’s teacher.

Say Cheese for a Better Life Photos of big smiles were displayed on the big screens and the panels at Cargill Day celebration. Many employees are standing in front of the panels searching for familiar faces. “Most of the time, I only get to communicate with colleagues on the phone, as we are at different locations. Looking at my colleagues smiles made me feel very warm,” said Jessica Kang with tax department. The “smile” photos displayed at the event were submitted by Cargill employees from all over the world. They sent their best smiles to join “Say Cheese for A Better Life” photo competition. Gu Minghua from Shanghai IT department provided the technical support for our online voting website. Colleagues from 32 different locations in China and overseas submitted over 400 smiles and over 8,000 Cargill employees voted online to choose their favorite “smiles”. The engagement of our colleagues went far beyond Gu’s expectation. “I originally expected that there might be around 200-300 visitors to the website to vote every day. Surprisingly, the first day the website was launched we had over 1,000 votes,” he said. One of the competition participants Hans Zou, from CHN Shanghai said, “It really doesn’t matter whose smile got the most votes. The most important thing is that, through the campaign, we can tell our colleagues are really engaged in supporting our mission here in China.” 22

为了使志愿服务不仅热情而且更专业更贴心,嘉吉 关爱阳江委员会于7月22日进行了首届志愿者技能 培训,这是嘉吉中国首次当地嘉吉关爱委员会组织 的志愿者培训。 在培训中,委员会与志愿者分享包括如何与聋哑人 沟通的技巧,志愿项目执行指南以及表彰计划的设 立,大家了解到如何能够更有效地组织活动。同 时,志愿者们也了解到在执行社区服务项目时,可 以利用的企业内部和外部的资源。 嘉吉阳江的同事们一直踊跃参与志愿者活动,而关 爱委员会也积极思考更好提升志愿服务质量的方法 和项目。仅从7月开始,志愿者们就参加了委员会 组织的多项活动,包括每月定期探望社区孤寡老 人,去特殊教育学校看望聋哑儿童,以及筹备“嘉 吉关爱小学”的修缮工作等。 过去两年来,嘉吉关爱阳江委员会组织50多项志愿 服务活动,帮助促进社区环保,教育和健康等领域 的发展,同事们共计奉献3500小时的志愿时间。

7月12日,来自天津李自沽小学的孩子们来到嘉吉食品(天 津)有限公司,与志愿者们度过了愉快有趣的一天。 在工厂里,志愿者们为孩子们上了生动的食品安全培训 课。课程一开始,孩子们就被摆放在桌上的美味可口的糖 果和饮料吸引住了,迫不及待去品尝。其实,志愿者希望 通过让孩子们品尝各种糖果和饮料,帮助他们认知视觉、 触觉、听觉、嗅觉和味觉,从而能够让他们学习如何识别 食品的优劣。志愿者还用简单图示向孩子们讲解如何养成

均衡营养的饮食习惯和良好的卫生习惯,来增强他们的食品安全意识。 孩子们第一次参观工厂,对这里的一切都充满好奇。在志愿者的讲解下,孩子们先后参观了工厂实验室,生产车间 和办公区域,了解到工厂的基本生产流程。 自公司成立以来,天津公司的同事一直致力于帮助改善农村地区的教育环境,包括帮助李自沽小学修缮校舍和修建 操场等。此外,他们还帮助孩子学习课本以外的知识,如简单的国际贸易课程,食品安全知识等。通过这些活动, 孩子们和志愿者之间建立起了深厚的感情。

洪水无情人有情 同心协力渡难关 于艺洋 嘉吉动物营养 郑州 吕 晶 嘉吉动物营养 吉林 张迎军 嘉吉亚洲甜味剂和淀粉衍生物 松原 7月下旬,吉林、河南等地区遭受特大洪灾,造成当地农户巨 大的经济损失。嘉吉当地的同事们积极帮助当地农户进行灾 后重建,恢复生产。 在河南,洪水冲毁了当地农户的奶牛场,损失惨重。动物营 养嘉吉关爱郑州委员会在得知消息后的第一时间在公司组织 筹款共计25,000元,以解受灾养殖户的燃眉之急。委员会计 划在道路修复后组织志愿者前往受灾地区为更多的农户送去 物资。 在受灾最为严重的东北地区,动物营养嘉吉关爱吉林委员会

组织志愿者收集受灾客户信息,并向他们捐赠并安装了价值 10万的母猪产床设备。志愿者们将为农户恢复生产提供长期 支持。委员会还计划与另一受灾地区的养殖户合作,利用科 学方法重建饲料仓库。 吉林松原华润赛力事达玉米工业公司也迅速捐赠20万元用于 支持东北地区的抗洪救灾工作,总经理刘军表示:“希望我 们的努力能帮助受灾的农民尽快重建家园,恢复生产。” 同时,河南和吉林两地同事的积极参与救灾行动得到了其他 地方同事的响应。截至目前,嘉吉已为受灾地区筹集50余万 元资金和设备以帮助农户渡过难关。 受灾农户接过捐款后,激动的不知道说什么好了。

感受嘉吉大家庭 姜竹蔚 嘉吉谷物与油籽供应链大中华与韩国 上海 6月,嘉吉谷物与油籽价值链大中华与韩国区事业部(简称“谷物油籽部”)华南地区的阳江、麻涌南和麻涌北三大 工厂不约而同地举办了家庭开放日活动,共有251位家属来到工厂和员工们一起欢度家庭日。 对于很多家在外地的同事来说,家庭日活动是很好的与家人相聚的机会。由于工厂地理位置偏远,加上工作忙 碌,很多同事甚至要几个月才能和家人团聚一次。 在家庭日上,员工们陪伴到访的家属参观工厂,安全的工作环境和舒适的生活区域让家人们放心,之后的文娱表 演也给他们留下了美好回忆。阳江地区感人至深的社区表演,麻涌北乐趣横生的互动游戏以及麻涌南献给小朋友 们丰富多彩的见面礼,都让大家在欢声笑语中感受到了嘉吉大家庭的温暖。

每逢农历五月初五,全国各地不少群众都以赛龙舟这 项传统项目庆祝端午节。今年端午,嘉吉烯王的同事 们就亲身体验了龙舟运动的魅力。 6月15日,湖北龙舟大赛在武汉东湖举行,嘉吉烯王 参加了企业组的比赛。企业组比赛共有16支公司团 队参加,竞争异常激烈。嘉吉烯王队以小组预选赛第 一名的成绩进入决赛。 经过一番你追我赶,奋力拼搏,嘉吉烯王队获得了第 四名。队员们自豪地表示一定参加明年的龙舟赛,争 取获得更好的成绩。
