Catherine Heenan is a 21-year-old designer from the mid-north coast of Australia who now resides in Bondi. Currently studying Environmental Humanities and Development Studies at
UNSW, she balances her time between university and running Cantik Swimwear solo. Catherine grew up by the ocean surfing and traveling to overseas world-class surf destinations. She is largely inspired by Hawaii where she lived when she was 16 years old as well as Bali, Indonesia where she has visited regularly since she was a child. Designing an exotic and luxurious swimwear line seemed like the obvious thing to do.
Cantik means ‘beautiful’ in Bahasa Indonesian and is for the free-spirited sun seeker, lover of all things adventurous, beautiful and exciting. Featuring nostalgic 80s inspired cuts and retro silhouettes, Cantik Swimwear is for the woman who isn’t afraid to stand out and show a little skin. Each style in the Resort 13/14 ‘Essence of Light’ collection is named after worldwide destinations such as Muscat, Oman an exotic coastal hideaway in the Middle East and the Honolua bottoms after Honolua Bay on Maui’s northwestern coast.

1. Tie your hair in a high bun.
