Want to see how the sand gets deep down into the greens? Check out this image of the injection process!

By the time you read this, we will have completed our first aerification of the year using the Dryject process on the Hills greens. Dryject uses highpressure water to inject dried sand into the soil. We used this method last year as well It's a less disruptive approach compared to traditional core aeration while achieving similar benefits.

October

Here's why aerification is important:

Relieves Compaction: Mowing and rolling over time compact the greens. Aerification loosens the soil, improving air and water movement. Improves Drainage: Adding sand helps dilute organic matter, which can trap water and hinder drainage.

Promotes Root Health: Increased air circulation in the root zone allows for better oxygen exchange and nutrient uptake

We understand you might wonder why we aerify healthy greens It's because strong, healthy turf recovers faster from these practices.

December

We'll be performing two more green aerifications and some fairway and tee aerifications this summer.

As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

SHIPYARDGOLFMAINTENAINCE

We have been busy at Shipyard this spring! Temperatures are finally reaching levels for bermudagrass growth, and we are greening up. Some of the things we have accomplished this spring are:

Laid nearly an acre of sod:

#2 Clipper -fairway entrance and exit

#9 Clipper- regressed around both fairway bunkers

October

#7 Galleon- Left rough, eliminated mulch bed at green walkup

Removed contaminated bunker sand and installed 9 holes of new bunker sand in greenside bunkers- Galleon

Created new mulch beds on #1, #9 Brigantine

Cut all tree roots with a root pruner around the perimeter of all 27 holes

Restored lagoon bank #8 Brigantine with erosion control, new soil, and seed

Painted bridges on #2, #6, #7 Brigantine

Powerwashed 3 wooden bridges #1, #9 Clipper

Irrigation audit and repairs where needed

To kick off the summer, we will be aerating all turf areas throughout the course from May 30 to June 1. This practice relieves compaction, improves drainage, and provides much-needed oxygen to the roots of the turf.
