The Garden Route is a beautiful destination to visit. Stretching from Mossel Bay to Storms River and encompassing the towns of Knysna, Oudtshoorn, George, Plettenberg Bay, Sedgefield and Wilderness – this is a coastal wonder land with many fantastic things to see and do. It is called the Garden Route because of the spectacular flora and fauna that surrounds the coastline. There are many interesting things to do on the Garden Route including whale watching, cave exploration, elephant interactions, game drives, mountain passes, beaches, great restaurants and of course excellent golf at Fancourt, Pezula, Oubaai, Simola and Pinnacle Point. In this region, with its diverse offering of activities, there is something for everyone.
Some activities on the Garden Route include a visit the “Ostrich Capital” in the town of Oudtshoorn, followed by an excursion to the world famous Cango Caves, visit to the Oyster Factory, or a private cruise on the Knysna Lagoon.
Mother Nature surpassed herself when crafting the Mother City. Perched between the ocean and the mountain, with a national park at its heart, there is nowhere like Cape Town. Affectionately referred to as The Mother City, Cape Town is the oldest city in South Africa and has a cultural heritage spanning more than 300 years. It is in Cape Town that the Rainbow Nation really covers the spectrum. Between beautiful Cape Dutch homesteads, traditional dancers with painted faces performing in the streets, the smell of spicy Malay cooking and the taste of a well-made wine, this city will fill your senses.
Cape Town boasts the top tourism attractions in South Africa, all of which should appear on every visitors' itinerary all year round, namely Table Mountain, the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island, The penguins at Boulders Beach, Cape Point – The Cape of Good Hope. Cape Town, with its many diverse cultures, natural wonders, and breath-taking beauty is a master at capturing people's hearts.
The fertile green valleys of the Cape Winelands, origin of some of the world's most popular wines, is a must-see experience near Cape Town. Wine tasting, winemaking tours, excellent cuisine and historical landmarks collectively create an irresistible attraction in a region which boasts some of the most majestic scenery in South Africa.
Most Cape wine estates are characterized by classic Cape Dutch-style buildings and vast vineyards with picturesque mountains as a backdrop. There is also a distinct European influence in several regions, thanks to the arrival of French Huguenot, Dutch and German settlers during the 16th century. You will have the opportunity to visit some of the best wine estates and some of the oldest vineyards in the Stellenbosch and Franschhoek area. Indulge in award winning food and wines during your visit to this unique part of the Cape Winelands.
Rise at sunrise to head into the wild on your private African safari with your Field Guide and Tracker and discover a world usually only reserved for your screen during ‘Animal Planet’. You’ll find yourself in an environment that is as old as time, where the rhythm of nature is the only Governor. Two safaris take place each day – in the morning and late afternoon (moving into the early evening). This is when the wildlife is most active, and the temperature more moderate.
Walking Safari - The bush takes on a completely different perspective when you are on foot. Each of your senses will be on full alert as you feel the grass and stones beneath your feet; touch the leathery leaves of trees you walk beneath; smell the musky scent of wild animals in the vicinity; taste the sweet grass of the veld; and hear the crack of a branch indicating you are not alone. Walks generally take place after breakfast and last approximately 1½ to 2 hours, depending on the fitness level of guests. In summer, due to the heat, walks may be incorporated into the morning game drive before heading back to the lodge for breakfast.
The Manor House boutique hotel is the crown of the Fancourt estate. As a National Monument, the Manor House presents a meticulous remodelling of its historical counterpart, the Blanco House, while encompassing the distinctive air of a world-class, 21st century destination. Exquisitely furnished and decorated with sensual metallic finishes, the Manor House offers accommodation of uncompromising quality. Fusing old-world with new-world style, its design combines modern sophistication with its original wooden finishes. Its luxury amenities include the stately Monty Bar, the Manor House Library, a private swimming pool, and the Manor House Lounge which provides an elegant setting for afternoon teas. The Manor House also incorporates eco-friendly design features, providing a refreshing outlook on contemporary travel.
With captivating views of Table Mountain from its enviable location in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, the resort is a destination unto itself. Discerning travellers are invited to discover the celebrated cuisines of Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa and Reuben Riffel, socialise in the high-energy vibe of Vista Bar & Lounge and sample rare and undiscovered vintages at the stunning Wine Loft.
The sublime calm of the city's most expansive and sophisticated spa offers an indulgent escape, while NEO Boutique debuts an enviable collection of designer fashions, some available for the first time in South Africa. The One&Only Cape Town is designed to celebrate the city's wine, art, design and spirit, balancing contemporary glamour with an authentic South African style.
The concept of Jock Safari Lodge was born by the descendants of the Sir Percy Fitzpatrick and Niven Family. They used the funds of the trust of Sir Fitzpatrick, to build the lodge in the area close to where the history of Sir Percy Fitzpatrick & his dog Jock, took place. The Jock concession is the exact side profile of Jock the dog. In 1982 the Niven Family built a fence around the camp and that helped in preserving all the trees from destruction by visiting elephants.
The conservation-conscious Niven family also planted indigenous trees within the fenced area & they have grown to create an ambience under a canopy of shade different to the exposed wilderness just outside of the lodge Morning and evening drives are performed in covered 4x4 Landrovers conducted by highly experienced rangers. Traversing through the reserve, the wildlife is sometimes staggering in its diversity. Enthralling sightings of elephants, a sea of buffalo horns rising from the grass as they lie resting in the growing heat as well as prides of lions, awaits one. .
The Links at Fancourt is without doubt the most impressive piece of golf design and construction ever in South Africa. Fancourt owner Dr Hasso Plattner, who took a very hands-on function in the creation, commissioned a golf course, which would not only be a thorough test for every golfer, but would also rank among the top courses in the world.
Gary Player’s design team spent months studying the classic links courses of Scotland and Ireland and then, armed with inspiration from the best that those countries had to offer, embarked on the ambitious task of recreating some of their finest holes to make a genuine links test on what was once an airfield. Golf Digest USA recently ranked The Links, the 34’th best Golf course in the world.
The Fancourt Golf Resort in the heart of the spectacular Garden Route region of South Africa boasts two world class championship Parkland courses, namely Montagu and Outeniqua. Both courses were designed by Gary Player, and together with the outstanding facilities at the resort, have resulted in Fancourt recently been ranked in the top 10 golf resorts in the world.
Both tree-lined courses cover large tracts of varying terrain across an undulating indigenous landscape with natural water features weaving their way through the beauty of the Fancourt Estate. Apart from the fantastic course design and all year conditioning, it is the surrounding Outeniqua Mountain range that towers above this estate, that makes this golf experience truly spectacular.
The Pinnacle Point Golf Course is something truly unique for the discerning golfer. This 18 hole championship golf course was designed by well-known South African golf course architect Peter Matkovich who opened the course together with top Irish Tour Professional Darren Clarke in November 2006.
Darren Clarke, who was also involved with many aspects of the Pinnacle Point course design, has said that Pinnacle Point is “... the best golf course on the planet.” This Cliff top Fynbos Golf Course inspires the golfer to play this challenging layout with a level of respect due to its dramatic views and breath-taking terrain. The 72 par layout is characterized by 7 majestic holes that line the Indian Ocean rock cliffs, four of which are played over ocean and cliff.
Cape Town and the world-famous wine regions of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are home to numerous Championship Golf Courses, many involved in hosting European PGA Tour events.
Cape Town
All the golf courses in Cape Town have jaw dropping views of the ever-present Table Mountain and False Bay. The most popular courses include Royal Cape Golf Club, Steenberg Private Golf Estate and Clovelly Country Club, all situated at the foot of the Table Mountain National Park.
Cape Winelands
Popular courses in the Cape Winelands include Pearl Valley Golf Course near Franschhoek, De Zalze Golf Course in Stellenbosch and Erinvale Golf Course in Somerset West – all of them boasting spectacular 360° mountain views. **Golf courses in Cape Town and Winelands are selected based on availability and conditioning at the time of booking.
Working closely with the Kruger National Park and nature conservation authorities, the Leopard Creek Golf Course was specifically designed to blend in with the surroundings, providing sophisticated leisure amenities in an undisturbed natural environment. Innovative architectural and landscaping techniques ensure that the golf course is in harmony with the environment, while lakes and small streams have been diverted through the development to create scenic vistas and interesting golf strategies.
Sightings of crocodile, hippo, antelope, buffalo and wild boar are commonplace, either on the course itself or in or next to the river running alongside several holes. Golfing hazards take on a new dimension at Leopard Creek for much of the water is home to hippos and the creature for which the adjacent river is named – crocodile. To single out a signature hole is brave as there are some memorable holes. Not for the faint-hearted, the par five 18th is not particularly long at 475m but the island green presents a tricky shot over water.
Many of you will remember the scenes from Out of Africa when Karen Blixen went on Safari with everything including the kitchen sink and the gramophone! Luckily for you the lodges are so well equipped you can leave your hairdryer at home, rest assured there will be one in your room.
Safaris are generally casual affairs, even at the Luxury Camps. There is no need to bring evening wear but you'll want to be warm and comfortable. Make sure all your clothes are not too bright in colour. Bring clothes that are loose fitting and comfortable, and which you don't mind getting dirty. It will be chilly in the early morning when you start your game drive, so you'll need to layer up and bring a fleece.
• Hats and caps – Broad brimmed hat as well as cap
• Boots and socks for game drives and game walks – Many of the safari lodges include Bush Walks as part of your game drive activities. Leave the Jimmy Choo's at home! Sandals or open footwear to wear around camp during the day
• A small back pack or rucksack for game walks
• A light jacket or windbreaker and a fleece top for game drives – Even during the summer the temperatures can drop significantly after sunset
• Pale and natural coloured clothing so you blend in with the bush – Look the part and wear neutral colours. For walking safaris do not wear white or cream
• A sarong and swimming costume – Jock Safari Lodge has a communal pool
• Dress Code – The lodges in Africa have a very relaxed dress code. There is no need to dress up for dinner. It is nice to freshen up before dinner, but sometimes the game viewing is so good that time does not allow for it
Average Temperatures in South Africa in January (Degrees Fahrenheit)
• Johannesburg Low 59 – High 79 Degrees Fahrenheit
• George Low 60 – High 78 Degrees Fahrenheit
• Cape Town Low 61 – High 82 Degrees Fahrenheit
• Kruger National Park Low 69 – High 86 Degrees Fahrenheit
The quality of service from the Pro Golf Africa Safaris team and in general from all the places we encountered while in SA was just amazing. In a nutshell, our members trip to South Africa was beyond unbelievable and everyone will remember it forever. Everything went without a hitch. It was so well organized and everything ran so smoothly. There were so many great parts of the trip from the golf, wine country, shark diving, dinners and the safari was just out of this world. It’s pretty hard to pin point just one or two things that stick out as just about every day had a once in a lifetime memory feel to it. The Members said that they’ve done great trips before and experienced great accommodation options, but nothing to this degree. I thought we could greatly impress them, but I thought it would be impossible to blow their minds with their previous travel history but I really believe you guys did it.

It is a pleasure to write a reference for the team at Pro Golf Africa Safaris. From the beginning of the planning stages, through the entire trip, to the conclusion and follow through, it was truly a first class South African golf and safari experience. There were a lot of moving parts to my trip – 17 couples – many of whom were in the country for the first time. Three different locations, twelve days, a jam-packed itinerary, yet planned to be seamless and unhurried. Morne Coetzer and Jaco du Preez (The owners of Pro Golf Safaris) accompanied us throughout, and could not have been better hosts. They took care of all details, made introductions – we felt like “insiders”, saved us expenses at every turn but above all, provided us a vacation of a lifetime.
Iain Mossman (General Manager: The Old Collier Club – Naples Florida) email: imossman@theoldcolliergc.com
Our Golf and Safari trip was an exceptional experience from start to finish. As a PGA Professional we are tasked with creating member experiences daily. To be able to secure a trip of a lifetime through Pro Golf Africa Safaris was nothing short of legendary! From the golf to the lodging, the meals to the safari, every day was perfection. Their team was first class every step of the way & I recommend them for your member experience.
John Metzinger (Director of Golf - Kensington Country Club) e-mail: directorofgolf@kensingtoncc.com
My first impression when meeting with Morne and Carl was that these gentlemen knew exactly how to plan and organize a trip for my members and myself. After planning the itinerary, we advertised our adventure as a “trip of a lifetime” and it far surpassed everyone’s expectations! I’ve hosted quite a few of my members on trips abroad, but never have I experienced anything quite like South Africa. Pro Golf Africa Safaris attention to detail and friendliness sets them apart from all the other travel companies. All nineteen of our group unequivocally stated that they wanted to return for another trip; that’s how great a time we had and how well we were taken care of. Looking forward to our next adventure with Pro Golf Africa Safaris!
Josh Hershoff (Head Golf Professional - Wilderness CC - Naples, Florida) e-mail: JHershoff@wildernesscc.com
From my initial meeting with Morne and Jaco, I was so excited to introduce this experience to our membership. Brian and I enjoyed traveling with 19 club members through the beautiful country of South Africa. Beginning at Fancourt in George, the accommodations, golf and tours were exceptional. The time spent in Cape Town, with tours of wineries and Cape Point, was informative and absolutely stunning. You definitely need a company of this caliber to help navigate a foreign land. The balance of blending the golf, tours and cuisine made us excited to wake up each day for our next adventure. Our tour guide, Andrew, was a huge hit with our group. His knowledge of the country, interesting stories and sharp wit kept us entertained. And to end the trip of a lifetime at Lion Sands for a safari was so special. I definitely left a piece of my heart in South Africa. I enjoy sharing my experiences with local Membership Directors and urge them to meet with the Pro Golf Safaris Team to introduce this to their Club.
Stephanie Glasco (Membership Director – Bonita Bay Club) email: StephanieG@BonitaBayClub.net
I wholeheartedly recommend Pro Golf Africa Safaris for your next member trip to South Africa! Carl, Jaco & Morne (Owners) are fantastic to work with and cover all the details. The first-class experience begins with the planning phase as they take the time to get to know the Club and its members and then tailor the experience to them. From there, they prepare all the information packets, presentations, Q&A’s and handle all the registrations making setup very easy for the professional. Once the time to travel arrives, all expectations are blown out of the water once you set foot in South Africa. We traveled with 11 couples and every single person agreed that this trip was well above and beyond all expectations, which is hard to do! The golf courses, excursions, accommodations, meals and of course safari were outstanding. Pro Golf Africa Safaris took care of all the details, and it allowed my wife and I to enjoy the trip alongside my members. The only question you are left with after this amazing experience is, when are we going back?!

Pro Golf Africa Safaris reserves the right to cancel any tour before departure, in which event the entire payment will be refunded without any further obligation on the part of the Operator.
A cancellation charge is applicable on the following basis:
- If a booking is cancelled more than 120 days prior to the itinerary commencement date and the deposit has been paid, 25% of total cost is forfeited
- If a booking is cancelled 60 – 120 days prior to the itinerary commencement date – 50% of total cost is forfeited

Pro Golf Africa Safaris will apply for the refund from our suppliers on your behalf, nevertheless will not be responsible should this application be denied for any reason.
We reserve the right to cancel the reservation if we do not have a signed Reservation Form.
All cancellations must be received in writing and submitted to enquiries@progolfsafaris.com. Failure to cancel will result in the total booking cost being forfeited.
It is strongly advised that all Clients take out adequate insurance cover such as cancellation due to illness, accident or injury. Personal accident and personal liability are also recommended. The Operator will not be responsible or liable if the Client fails to take adequate insurance cover or at all. We do offer travel insurance on request only.
Passports and Visas
Visitors to Africa must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond their intended departure date, together with onward travel documents, proof of accommodation and sufficient funds for the duration of their stay. In addition, each country they may be visiting generally requires at least 2 consecutive/side by side blank pages on entry for both visas and stamps. Should the itinerary include more than one country, excluding the country of departure and return, a sufficient number of blank visa pages (not endorsement pages) in their passport is required. Should there be insufficient blank pages in your passport then entry into or exit from country could be denied.
Any applicable visas, costs and/or relevant documentation are the responsibility of the guest. They must please verify with the relevant consulate concerning visa entry requirements and, if extending their journey to other countries, the visa entry requirements for those countries need to be established as well.
Guests must ensure they have all necessary visas prior to departure from their home country (unless these can be obtained on arrival) as Pro Golf Africa Safaris, its staff, agents and operators cannot be held liable should entry be denied.
Travel Regulations – African countries’ Immigration do not consider traveling on holiday an emergency and will therefore not grant entry to any guest traveling on an Emergency Travel Document. Guests must ensure they have the appropriate travel documentation before departing on their safari holiday.
South African law and the jurisdiction of South African courts will govern the relationship between the Client and Pro Golf Africa Safaris. The Operator shall be entitled to institute any legal proceedings arising out of or in connection with this contract in any Magistrates Court having jurisdiction in terms of Section 28 of the Magistrates Court Act no. 32/1944 as amended, notwithstanding that the amount in issue may exceed the limits of such jurisdiction.
