Previously, it seemed like most smartphone apps that piqued everyone’s interest were games and entertainment apps. Now with today’s progression of technology, we have expanded our app interests with categories such as educational, financial and medical. Listed below are several medical apps and software that continue to move the healthcare world in Southeast Georgia.
Heal
The Heal app was developed to help bring back at-home visits by allowing patients to stay comfortable in their own homes. The app is currently available in the Atlanta area, but is rapidly expanding throughout local communities. Currently, throughout the United States, the app is available to 102 million Americans. The goal of Heal is to provide patients with virtual holistic visits. By allowing doctors to take a holistic approach, medical providers can observe the environment and lifestyle a patient is living, which can determine how a patient’s health is being affected. Heal provides listings of licensed internists, family physicians, and pediatricians and is covered by a variety of insurance plans. The app is available for iOS and Android.
Georgia Coordinating Center (GCC)
Georgia Coordinating Center (GCC) is an online database through the Georgia Department of Public Health that allows users to see bed capacity at medical facilities throughout the state. The database lists hospitals that are closest to users that have the most resources needed. Resources can be searched by adult trauma centers, pediatric trauma centers, stroke centers, emergency cardiac care centers, neonatal centers or maternity centers. The different facilities are color-coded to notify users of how busy they are, such as “normal” (green) or “severe” (red) to show the level of crowding. Medical providers are also provided with information for patient transfers. The database allows users to search by county, region, or regional coordinating hospital. Access to the database is available at georgiarcc.org. Used at Southeast Georgia Health Systems, the Healthelife app was created to provide real-time access to a patient’s latest healthcare information. After each visit, it is updated to reflect findings and visit details. The app also allows users to message medical providers, schedule appointments, access medical information including lab results, immunization records, medications, health documents and more. The goal of the app is to provide services and information to let users plan, understand and engage in their medical care. The Healthelife app is available for iOS and Android.
