Angela Perry Obituary

TO MY

Daughter

IN HEAVEN

Angela, you did not give me not one last farewell.

We said, “Happy New Year! I love you! See you tomorrow!” We didn’t even say goodbye. You were gone before I knew it, and only God knows why.

They say there is a reason. They say time will heal; Neither time nor reason will change the way I feel! Gone are the days we used to share, But KNOW in my heart you are always there!

The gates of memories will never close; I miss you more than anybody knows!

I will miss you every day until we meet again my beautiful, precious angel. You will forever be in my heart!

Life Reflections

Angela Michelle Perry was born March 10, 1975, in Clarksville, TN to J.L. Perry, Jr. and Cheryl Lester Perry. She was the answered prayer of her parents for a sweet baby girl as their first child. Angela had a sweet, kind, loving spirit, and was truly the apple of her father’s eye. When her brother Jason was born five years later, she welcomed him with open arms. As they got older, she even allowed him to believe he was “the boss of her.” Of course, I think they both realized that she was the one in charge.

She accepted Christ as a young child at Whitestone Missionary Baptist Church where she participated in the Red Circle Girls ministry. Later, she united with the Greater Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her late grandfather, Pastor William H. Lester. There, she participated on the Young Adult Usher Board and sang with the Youth and Young Adult Choir where she led the song “Breathe on Me.” In 2015, she became a member of Brown Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Bartholomew Orr.

Angela was a 1993 graduate of Whitehaven High School. After graduation she attended The University of Tennessee at Martin. Throughout her lifetime, she made many lasting friendships and enjoyed spending time with the friends she came to love as siblings, and who blessed me with the title “Mama.”

Angela was a loving and devoted mother to three beautiful children who loved, respected, and adored her. Alexandria, 28, Johnathan, 20, and Madison, soon to be 19. They are the most loving, caring, hardworking, respectable children a parent could have. Angela and her children had a bond that was sealed with unconditional love, and she was more than happy to be the central figure in their lives. Anyone who knew them knew that she was a star in their eyes, that they were the sparkle in her eyes, and that’s all that ever mattered to her.

Angela enjoyed a fulfilling career in banking and finance. She worked for Union Planters National Bank, Regions Bank, First Tennessee/First Horizon, Renasant Bank and most recently Guaranty Bank as a Lending Assistant. To her coworkers and customers, Angela was more than

an employee...she was family. Anyone who knew Angela knew that she was incredibly kind hearted. She had an immense passion for her work, consistently provided outstanding quality customer service, and was always a source of positivity.

She went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 1, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. J.L. Perry, Jr.; her grandfather, J.L. Perry, Sr.; her paternal grandmother, Lurline Perry; her maternal grandfather, Pastor William H. Lester; her sibling/cousins Nakia Lester, Myka Warmsley, Kelvin Dickey, and Demeta Chism; and her aunts: Patricia Cole and Lula Haley.

Angela’s amazing personality, contagious laugh, and beautiful smile will forever be cherished by her children, Alexandria Elizabeth Farsee, Johnathan Allen Powell, and Madison Elaine Powell; her mother Cheryl Lester Perry; her stepmother, Janis Conley Perry of Nashville, TN; her maternal grandmother, Louise Stokes Lester; her brother, Jason Perry (Tiffani); her niece, Jalen Samone Perry of Jackson, TN; her nephew Jaxson Elijah Perry; her aunts and uncles: Billy Perry (Mary) of Jackson, TN; Anita Lester Hunt (John) Carmen Lester Warmsley, Anthony Lester, Lillian Lester Busby (Wilfred), and Darryl Lester (Anita); great aunts: Lynette Lester Sharpe (Anthony) of Decatur, AL, Myra Lester Thomas (Robert) of Virginia Beach, VA; a special friend, Jermaine Jordan, and a host of other relatives, and special sister/friends. Angela will forever be in our hearts!

“Come to me, all who are weary and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, NIV)

Acknowledgment

The death of a child is an unimaginable loss no parent ever expects to face. As adult children, we were not ready to say goodbye to our mom, and we are not sure if we would ever have been ready. But the Word of God says, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10, NLT)

The family of Angela Michelle Perry extends our deepest thanks to you for your kidness during our greatest time of sadness. Your words have comforted us; Your support has strengthened us; and your love has sustained us. We appreciate it more than words can express, and it will always be remembered.
