Signs of gangsterism
even in primary schools
JANINE VAN DER RIET The Hermanus and Stanford Police members are being tasked to focus on gangsterism in the Overstrand, in a project called Operation Combat. Col Francois de Wet, acting station commander at the Hermanus Police station, said on Monday that their members kicked off Operation Combat by visiting schools in the Overstrand. “What is alarming to us, is that there are signs of gangsterism at many schools, ranging from gangster tattoos and markings to known gangster graffiti on some of the school walls, and even drawn on some of the learners’ school cases, indicating an involvement with gangs. Most of the learners who have these gangster related tattoos or markings reside in the Hawston area.” The sector managers of the Hermanus Police started visiting
“In some schools some of the learners claimed they have to pay ‘protection money’ to other learners, in order for them to be safe.”
schools, primary and high schools, in Hermanus, Mount Pleasant, Zwelihle and Hawston last Wednesday. At some of these schools, even at a primary school, they found gang-signs tattooed and/or drawn on the children’s arms, indicating they are members of a gang. Hermanus and Stanford Police are issuing a stern warning to
gang members, and especially to those who use learners in their gang related activities. “These gang members are known to us and have been monitored for a long period. They are continuously involved in ongoing crimes such as drug trafficking, dealing in stolen goods and abalone smuggling, etc,” said Sgt. RJ Gouws of Stanford Police. “They are repeat offenders who have records of cases reported against them, showing their involvement in criminal activities. Our aim is to prove their involvement in organised crime syndicates and gangs and to charge them under the POCA (Prevention of Organised Crime Act). “This means that if found guilty, their assets (moveable or
unmovable) can be forfeited to the state. It also means that when it comes to sentencing, a maximum sentence can be expected in accordance with the act.” De Wet stated on Monday that the operation’s success is not only dependent on police members, but all the role players, including child welfare, social services, the justice department, churches, schools, teachers, parents and anyone who can assist in combating gangsterism in the Overstrand. “By law, parents can be prosecuted if found that their child has not gone to school or just dropped out. The same goes for the teachers of the school if they have not reported these absences to the department of education. A docket will be opened and investigated under the children protection act: Abandoning of Children,” said De Wet. Article continues on page 14.

The Vermont home owner, Jonny Lipman, is furious that the woman gained access to their home in Vermont after tricking the housekeeper into believing that she had permission from the owners to enter the house. Lipman says the woman rang the doorbell on Monday 1 September at around 12:30. The suspect then pretended to be speaking to the owner of the house on her cellphone. “The woman told Sara, our housekeeper, that my wife (Zelda) said she could enter our house to do some measurements to fit cupboards and carpets. Before Sara could talk to my wife to confirm, the woman said
Zelda had rang off as she was busy driving.” Sara then followed the woman through the house while she was taking measurements of the carpets and cupboards in the bedrooms. After a while, the suspect asked Sara for a cup of coffee and while she went to make the coffee, the woman grabbed some items. Lipman says they are missing two cellphones, three watches (of which one watch is worth R35 000), cash as well as 600€, and jewellery, all together worth more than R50 000. Without Sara noticing the theft immediately, the woman drank the coffee and left with all the stolen goods. When the Lipman couple returned home later that day, they realised they had been robbed. After opening a case with the police, Lipman did his own investigation via the internet and posting the
incident via social networks and soon found a photo of the likely suspect, which was identified by their housekeeper. “The worst part is, the woman is still walking around freely,” says Lipman, who spotted her sitting in a car next to his in the parking area by Gateway Spar on Sunday. “I was furious! But what can I do. I gave all the info through to the police.” Lipman describes the woman as a coloured female in her early forties, slightly overweight, with black hair with a blonde streak. On Tuesday, Lipman said he heard that the woman, again pretending to measure for carpets and cupboards, also tried to gain access to houses for sale on the pretext of viewing on behalf of overseas buyers and friends. According to lieutenant Fadila September, the police are investigating the incident.

What is the Ice Bucket Challenge? Celebrities worldwide have been filmed drenching themselves with buckets of ice water and posting the deed on social media to create awareness for Motor Neutron Disease (MND) – Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) forms part of this – which attacks the nerve cells in your body that control your muscles. The muscles deteriorate and eventually die. The challenge of throwing ice water on yourself is a symbol to portray how the body reacts to the effects of ALS/ MND. South Africans were quick to catch on, with former Springbok legend Joost van der Westhuizen famously taking the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds for MND. Now everyone is following in the celebs’ footsteps, also taking part in this challenge, while challenging others to do the same. A common stipulation is that nominated participants have 24 hours to comply or forfeit by way of a charitable financial donation. ) So, who’s next? Traffic chief Rudi Fraser has nominated the rest of the Western Cape’s traffic chiefs and fellow traffic officials in the Overstrand. Hennie Mentz nominated all other the school principals in the Overstrand. Oosie Oosthuizen nominated the rest of the Toyota Knights. Hermanus Times has nominated all Overstrand hoteliers to the challenge.

Eastcliff Centre bookshop moving to Main Road JAN-HENDRIK COETZER ‘bookmark’ is a landmark in the Eastcliff Village shopping centre, but after 13 years, the owner, Corinne Hendry, has decided to move to new premises in Main Road. “It was one of those opportunities that came my way. You check what’s around, as you would buying a house. It’s just the same. Although my new space will be a little bit smaller, I believe it will bring other positive elements, like more feet and a different vibe,” says Corinne. This move gives her a chance to get the creative juices flowing again; she can design the new shop, near the Walker Bay Art Gallery, from scratch. “Getting the shop ready for trading is an
exciting time for me. The new shop will have a different look but still be very quirky and maintain its quality selection of books.” Originally from Scotland, Corinne moved to South Africa in 1991 and stayed in Johannesburg. “During my working life in the UK, I have been in the pharmaceutical and AIDS field, and came here for a sabbatical. After several years I ended up working in a bookshop in Sandton Square, and it opened up a new and exciting world for me. I was surrounded by books, and for the first time, work felt like playtime. Being Scottish had meant books were an integral part of my life. So when I moved to Hermanus in 2001, it was natural to open my own bookshop.” Corinne plans to open the new ‘bookmark’ in early October, but will still be trading at Eastcliff until the end of this month. “I am so excited with the planning that has gone into all of this. At this stage of my life, I find that change is challenging and very rewarding,” says Corinne.

What a rigmarole to replace a tree Many of you would have noticed that one of the newly-planted trees on the median of the provincial main road (the R43) opposite Gateway Shopping Centre, had died several months ago. The Hermanus Ratepayers’ Association and Business Chamber decided to partner to replace the dead tree and it proved more interesting than first thought, regales Bob Stanway, chairman: Hermanus Ratepayers. “We had to find out who’s tree it was that had died, who could give permission to replace it, and where to acquire a white pear tree to match the rest of the trees. “Inquiries began with the Overstrand Municipality – good idea to replace a dead tree, but no, not our
road or our tree – contact Province; Province – speak to Department of Transport – who – don’t know – Where – Hermanus part of the Cape Winelands Region of Roads Department based in Paarl; – confirmation, it is their tree; Who? – there is a person who gives permission – permission to replace a tree (a white pear tree) obtained in writing on 1 September; Where to get a white pear tree to match – phone around – Platbos Indigenous Nursery near Gansbaai – drive to Platbos and buy tree.” This rigmarole took longer than the actually planting of the tree, but the arbor week deadline was met throught sheer tenacity and with still a sense of humour intact. The new tree was planted last week.
GREENER PIET SE BOS: The Cliff Path Management Group (CPMG) planted 16 trees on the edge of Piet se Bos on Fri day. Boeken hout trees were donated by DAFF (Dept of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) and Milkwood trees were grown from seed by Frank Woodvine. Taking care of the planting were Kari Brice, Frank Woodvine, environmentalist extraordinaire; Lauren Rainbird, municipal horti culturalist; and David Beattie, CPMG chairman.

Bendedeelname is amper soos dwelm gebruik.

Where does the buck stop with dog attacks?
Why pay a deposit? In a newsletter of the Gordon’s Bay Review, dated August this year, it announced that the City of Cape Town will no longer require deposits to be paid on their municipal accounts and that existing deposits will be refunded. If this can be done by another municipality, why can’t Overstrand Municipality also not become more modern and enlightened by getting their books more up to date and implement the same system for their cash strapped land owners?

Santie Reyneke-Naude, director: financial services at the Overstrand Municipality comments: Overstrand Municipality is currently investigating the information brought to our attention and the outcome will be made known as soon as possible.

When my wife went for her customary early morning exercise walk in Sandbaai this week, she was attacked by a large German Shepherd/Alsation dog and bitten on her arm. The dog had leapt with ease over a garden wall. The attack came without warning and was not provoked. The incident occurred at about 07:50 on Monday 8 September. When I called at the house, the domestic informed me that the owners were away on holiday. After having the wound treated by our doctor, the incident was formally logged at the municipal law enforcement office. The investigating officer had already responded promptly to my earlier telephonic complaint and I have no doubt that the dog’s owner will be traced and contacted without delay and that corrective measures will be put in place. My great concern now is that my wife has been traumatised by this unpleasant attack, which will make her morning exercise walks a less-than-pleasant experi-
ence. We see daily occurrences of dogs being allowed to run in the road or on our beach without their leashes. Invariably the owners, if confronted, will indignantly defend their position with a “my dog doesn’t bite” response. Ironically, while I was on the phone to Law Enforcement immediately after the incident, I watched a young mother pushing her pram past our home, while her two black- and-white dogs were running loose on the road around her. One hundred metres ahead of her, the same large Alsation might have been getting ready to jump the wall again. What if ...? I sincerely believe that what happened to my wife is an experience that not even the most irresponsible of dog owners would wish on anyone, but where does one draw the line with regard to tolerance? Where does this buck stop?

Kids taught it’s okay to keep what is not theirs Dear parent(s), shame on you! If your child brings home an item of clothing or anything that is not hers/his from school, be the responsible adult and return it. If you keep what is not your child’s own items, what are you teaching that little soul? To grow up and be a thief? That it’s okay to take what is not yours? I’m sure a lot of parents will agree that there is nothing as annoying as having your child forget something at school and not finding it when you go to school and look for it, because of some parents who won’t think twice about helping themselves to an item belonging to someone else’s child. My five-year-old will occasionally bring unfamiliar items home and I will always return them. Yes, kids forget their shoes, clothes, etc. But schools have a lost-and-found box just for that purpose. A week ago my daughter went to school with brand new white T-bar walk mates. She forgot them at the playground and only realised that
when we got home. The following day we looked for them and to my surprise they had grown legs and found a new home on some innocent child’s feet. Let me say this to that parent, you are not fit to be a parent and I wonder how you take pride seeing your little girl in my child’s shoes every time. It’s not the first time this happened – in 2012 my firstborn lost a pair of New Balance takkies and the same happened. Yes, it’s not just the value of the items that is the issue, what saddens me the most is what will happen to your child who has been raised to dress up in stolen items. Clearly this is theft and one day that child will be an adult and may steal even bigger things. Who’s fault will that be? I pray that God saves kids who are exposed to such abuse from their parent(s), because no matter how you look at it, this is another form of abuse. This letter will only offend parents who are busy raising thieves and frankly I don’t care.

Raised funds for the next three years! Angie and I returned recently after a whirlwind 40-day trip to England, Holland, Switzerland and Sweden to go and create an awareness of the good news stories of changed lives of young people from the Overstrand, who are grabbing their opportunities and turbo charging forward towards a better future! In 2013, we helped two students to go to university to study further. This year we have helped ten students to study further at university and other places of further study, and next year we will have to help twenty that we have already identified to assist. During our trip we managed to raise all the necessary funds for the next three years, to help the students who are currently studying, as well as the new ones to register for their courses and accommodation as well as support throughout the year. Once in, we help them arrange for bursaries and loans and whatever it takes to get them through their chosen courses. From Sweden there will be cultural tours to Zwelihle to come and experience Xhosa hospitality, food and lifestyle vibe. They will be hosted by students of Francois Barnard from Harbour Rock’s Hospitality/Lifeskills Initiative. From Holland there are bursary opportunities as well as mentorship by very prominent business people. There is even a bread called Sparklekids. It is bread sold by a bakery in Rotterdam and one euro is given to Sparklekids for every bread sold. How is that for cool! From England we received the bulk of the finance. The donor is a family who does not want to be named, but who loves Hermanus and often comes and visits here. Rotary Hermanus also allocated a substantial amount of money to Sparklekids, as have dear friends locally, who may well heave a sigh of relief that they are now a little off the hook. Thank you again to our friends (the Van Zyl Smit family) who paid for our return tickets as well as the people who put us up every single night of the trip overseas, especially Joke and Daan from Dutchies at Grotto Beach. Thank you also to Mayor Nicolette BothaGuthrie who has gone way beyond her official role and has become a friend and supporter.

LETTERS Stay alert people! I have experienced three disappointments in the last few weeks. The first one involves a large sum of money placed in two Stanlib money market accounts. Like most people I have up to recently considered such monies to be absolutely secure. Alas, Stanlib had placed some of my funds in Abil accounts. When the Abil bubble burst Stanlib debited 4,6% to my two investments. I have been assured by Stanlib that the missing funds will be refunded at some stage in the future together with interest that will have accrued but nobody can tell me when that would be. Two accountant friends independently of each other have told me to kiss the lost money goodbye. I would have thought that in society Stanlib should rather have utilised their own funds to settle their debts, possibly partly at the expense of their

Mandy’s unexpected death a huge loss for Hermanus Rainbow Trust senior staff who might not then qualify for an annual bonus, but I am sure this will never happen. My second disappointment was with a large local supermarket. A weekend advertisement had offered a very palatable wine at a very low price, but even accepting that there had been a mistake in the wording of the advert, the corrected version still offered the wine at a very low price. I have been back to the shop repeatedly but the promised wine never seemed to arrive at all. My third disappointment involved a local funeral parlour. Placing a death notice through it in a newspaper cost me R490. Subsequent enquiry revealed that the same advert could have been placed by myself for only R69. I trust the above will alert some people.

By Dave Wreford It is with great sadness that I share the devastating news of Mandy’s (Mandisa Mamane) unexpected passing away on Saturday morning after a short stay in hospital. Our sincere condolences go out to all her family and friends, and everyone who knew her. She was truly an amazing person and she will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. It is especially sad as she was so young and vibrant and was making such a difference in so many children’s lives and had so much to offer our communities. I had the privilege of working with Mandy over the last two years and was continually motivated by her total dedication and commitment to the amazing work she was doing in Zwelihle.

Classic piano sounds at Dutchies on Sundays
Roger Summers at home playing his grand piano. As part of the Spring Sunday Clas sics at Dutchies, he will play some of his fa vourites on the keyboard on Sunday 14 September from 16:00, and then again ev ery Sunday from 19 October. Roger Summers, Hermanus Heights resident, will be the man on the piano on Spring Sunday Classics at Dutchies restaurant. Roger was born into a musical family in London. “I used to have soirees at my house and the musicians were retired professional people and the standard was very high. Later, the Summers Ensemble was formed.” Roger says the reason he now lives in South Africa is that Gloria Judd, a basoon player, was a student at the Royal College of Music at the same time as Lionel Bowman, who used to play at the City Hall, Cape Town. “I was encouraged to visit Cape Town and fell in love with South Africa.” Roger says he learnt to play the piano in 1941 “and lived through the times when the most wonderful tuneful music was composed.” On Spring Sunday Classics he will be performing some of his favourites on the keyboard including romantic pieces by composers such as Gershwin, Cole Porter and Ivor Novello, and the wonderful melodic music from the 1930s onwards.
Funky Fynbos Festival this weekend It’s in September, it’s Spring, it’s funky and it’s in Gansbaai – host of the first Rockets Funky Fynbos Festival from 12 - 14 September. The MTB race on 13 September traverses fynbos conservancies and farms with magnificent views over the mountains to the sea. There are three options available, from the 41 km Monster (R160), a 30 km somewhat less of a monster (R140) and the more beginnerfriendly 10 km (R80). The inaugural trail run on 14 September takes place on the Fynbos Trail, a hiking route. The challenging 30 km (R200) is usually hiked over three days and runners can be assured of some challenging hills, boardwalks and wooden steps. There is also a 10 km (R100) for beginner-runners and a family friendly 6 km (R50) taking place through Platbos Forest. For more information including route maps, go to www.funkyfynbos.co.za.

From page 1: In some schools some of the learners claimed they have to pay “protection money” to other learners in order to be safe. The police will investigate these allegations further. De Wet said gang members must know that they can be punished to the full extent of the law should they recruit children for their criminal activities. The aim of both police stations is to target the new and upcoming youth gangs that want to associate themselves with established gangs and organised crime entities. “Gang members usually get involved in criminal activities at a young age, hanging around with criminals who belong to gangs and organised crime syndicates. “At a young age kids pick up these bad habits and before they know it they are sucked up in crime syndicates,” Gouws said. Operation Combat requires input from the whole community and any person with information on any criminal activity concerning gang related incidents can contact De Wet on 028 313 5300 at the Hermanus Police Station or Gouws on 028 341 0601 in Stanford.

SPECIAL REPORT
Cape Town Supercar Club launch FRANS LE ROUX It does not happen very often that I am at a loss for words. For that exact reason I decided to pursue a career in journalism. About two weeks ago I received an email which invited me to join a certain inaugural supercar club launch. I first had to check that the mail was not scam and after glancing at my calendar I could see that we have indeed passed the month of April. After some research I found that this ‘fantasy’ event will be taking place and that by some stroke of luck my name was added to the media list. On a beautiful Sunday morning, more than 50 supercar-owners descended on the stunning Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town’s picturesque Waterfront. Scared pedestrians and angry residents were awakened to the sounds of pure motoring bliss as some of the enthusiastic owners decided to make their presence know - as if arriving in a Ferrari is not enough. After a quick introduction by television’s Ignition GT presenter Marius Roberts, the inaugural IBV Cape Town Supercar Club was officially launched. About ten members of the media were then told to pick a supercar in which they would then be driven to the breakfast destination in the heart of the Boland. Being the petrolhead that I am, I was pretty sure which of the cars I would most likely want to be a passenger in. After letting the odd Audi or BMW pass, I eagerly ran towards a British icon. Before me stood a black Aston Martin Rapide S. For those in the know, it is in-
More than 50 supercars were present at the inaugural IBV Supercar club’s Cape Town launch. Here the mutlimillion rand parade is seen at the top of Du Toitskloof Pass. PHOTO: FRANS LE ROUX deed an Aston Martin sedan which seats four and has a decent-sized boot. After I greeted my two pilots, off we went to beautiful Paarl. Our breakfast would be served at the Val de Vie Polo estate. Try and imagine what other motorists might have gone through when 50 supercars just casually drove past them on the N1. Safely cosseted in the back of our Aston Martin, I slowly began to re-
alise why these exotics aren’t more affordable. The leather, for example, gets sourced from the same herd of cattle. This provides the same quality of leather, which is then hand-stitched throughout the entire cabin. Wonderfully supportive seats are standard. You really need them once the loud-pedal gets stomped on. This Aston Martin Rapide S is powered by a behemoth of an en-
gine. A 6,0 litre V12 which pushes out 411 kW and 630 Nm. This enables the grand saloon to shoot past 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. For a car weighing just below two tons and measuring five metres, this is an impressive feat. The handling inspires confidence and the sheer size of the car feels less intimidating when the driver arrives at a corner. After a brilliant drive over the majestic Du Toistkloof Pass, we
arrived at our breakfast destination. My day does not end there though. Later that afternoon I was given the chance to drive a Ferrari California. This was one of the things I had on my so-called ‘bucket-list’. My heart was pounding and my palms sweaty, but I decided to not let the opportunity pass me by. The California was introduced back in 2009 as the first ever Ferrari to feature a front mounted engine. The 4,3 litre V8 produced 338 kW and 485 Nm. All this in a beautiful cabriolet grand tourer. From the moment you fire up the engine, your hearing is altered forever. That signature high-pitch V8 growl engulfs its audience. That is the unmistakable sound a petrolhead such as myself will never forget. With my whole body covered in goosebumps I slowly exited the cramped parking lot. My drive only lasted about 10 minutes but the emotions I felt, are something that I will take to the grave. As we were about to board a minibus back to Cape Town, I had another chance to drive the California. The next 60 minutes of my life was close to perfect. Driving the California whilst the sun is shining, on a beautiful motorway with the roof down, is stuff that dreams are made off. Later that afternoon I dropped the car off at the hotel and struggled to hand over the keys. As I walked back to my own car, I was amazed at the day I had. All supercar owners were friendly and accommodating, and the entire event was well organised by Vivid Luxury and IBV Supercar Club. Hopefully in the near future I will get another chance to shorten my bucket-list.

The vehicles, which will be available in limited numbers, bring sporty visual upgrades and enhanced specifications to the Chevrolet portfolio, adding extra value and appeal. “Chevrolet is well known for offering great value to our customers and we are confident that with these distinct new special versions we will delight Chevrolet buyers through exclusivity in limited numbers and with additional standard features,” says General Motors South Africa’s Chevrolet brand manager, Tim Hendon.
“The modifications on the Spark Black & White edition in particular have been developed by our local engineers and are factory-approved and fitted, for peace of mind to go along with the limited availability and unique South African flavour,” said Hendon. This week saw a beautiful day for golfing for the ladies, with 30 players coming along. The format was the dreaded medal and putts where every shot counts. Winning the best gross was Lynne Behagg with a credible 80. Winning the silver division was Rusty Demmer with a great nett 68 and coming out tops in the bronze division was Hilary Dale, also with a super nett 68. On Wednesday 102 golfers graced the club’s fairways. The competition was a friendly alliance stableford, and taking top honours were some old campaigners: Roy Smith, Roydon Pybus, Kees Verburg and Les Adams with a terrific 98 points, 3 clear of the field.
There were 5 two clubs and the ball pool paid to 94. This week there was a jackpot winner, Bill McGeachy. The cricket club held their golf day last Friday and it was well supported. Well done to Mark Brummer for organising the day. Then, on Saturday, the competition was a betterball stableford, won by Butch Zeedeburg and partner Syd White who counted in on a super 48 points from Les Adams and Kees Verburg also on the same score. Kees had a great day individually with a nett 65. Other great individual games were Tony Behagg and Brian Cartwright with nett 64s. There were 6 two clubs and the ball pool paid down to 46. The big jackpot this week was convincingly won by Glynn Davies. Well played. The club is increasingly being asked for their Twitter details, so for all you social media enthusiasts Hermanus Golf Club is @HermanusGolf. Hold your thumbs for the weather tomorrow for the Northcliff House Golf Day. Until next week, keep calm and go golfing.

The DOGS played an Individual Stableford (log) on 9 September in Kleinmond. Just like London buses, you wait for ever and then two come along at once. And sure enough, Mr Countback defeated his arch-rival by a comfortable two points to make it a double-decker (counting this and last week). There was some anxious counting on the lower deck too with no less than six players within 2 points of ignominy – and not the usual suspects either. In the end it was Trichi Vichi who snatched defeat from the jaws of victory leaving the Star of David to twinkle for another day. Scores: 41 Jon Forsyth; 39 Andre Franken; 38 Dave Smith; 36 Fred Garrett, Alan Smith; 32 Trevor Vaughan; 31 Quentin Mitchell, Peter Sulley; 30 Gordon Wilson; 29 Hugh Frangs; 28 Andre Hattingh, Pat Dewil, Peter Thomas; 27 Ian Newman; 26 Dave Rade, Vic van der Westhuizen. - DAVE SMITH

Business league cricket underway The Pennypinchers Business League kicked off the past weekend with some high quality cricket. The season’s winners, Fusion, took on Ranked Outsiders. The Fusion team put some huge pressure on the Ranked Outsiders’ batsmen and never gave them any room to get going. Fusion, batting 2nd, piled on some big runs in a slightly changed format, scoring 75 runs in 8 overs. The Locals showed they are bouncing back after a shock defeat last season in the semis. They managed to score 102 runs in 8 overs against the Hockey Club. Stock Tents played the 3rd match of the competition against the very first winners of the Business League, Hermanus High School. The High School had a shaky start, but soon found their rhythm and scored some big runs, ending up with 61 runs in 8 overs. Gareth Stock played a captain’s knock for the Stock Tents team, but could not find any partners to stay long enough. In the end the High School sneaked in with a win, restricting the opposition to 54 runs in 8 overs. Video & TV Clinic next took on the Live the Life Lions team and this was the match of the day. Video & TV Clinic batted first and scored heavily, ending with 72 runs in 8 overs. To score at more than 8 runs per over in any format is tough, but the Live the Life Lions kept up to 9 runs per over and in the last over, off the last ball, they needed 2 runs to win and managed to do so with some sloppy fielding giving them a well deserved win. The Bowl winners, HIK Allstars, took on the Kwaggas with a few of their star players struggling to keep up. HIK Allstars scored 69
runs in 8 overs and the Kwaggas ended up scoring 64 runs in 8 overs. Video & TV Clinic, now into their 2nd match of the day, faced the runners-up of last season, the Table Tigers. The Round Table team has played in the Business League since it started back in 2001. Pieter Joubert and Jacques du Toit made light work of the bowling. Table Tigers scored a well deserved 90 runs in 8 overs and won the match. The scores for Sunday’s matches are: - Tipples tied with The Chockers.
