Lokumu is Martin Nice (pronounced like the biscuit) from Nottingham. Having no formal musical training, his first live performance was playing Axel F in front of the music class aged 8 where he wowed audiences. From the age of 11 he formed various dodgy bands with classmates using band names such as ‘Yes, lets’ and ‘State of that’. At the age of 15 he mastered at least 4 chords on the guitar and added ‘Guitar player’ to his CV. After meeting Simon Mills at college, they formed a band called ‘Utopia’ which wrote mainly ambient and dance music following the standard college route of battle-ofthe-bands style gigs. Martin left the band aged 18 to study Software engineering while Simon went on to produce the widely successful ‘Cuckooland’ sample CDs and then formed the internationally renowned ‘Bent’. In the past 5 years, Martin has been putting together his first album called ‘A beautiful night’ which will be the first album release on Random Audio Records, it is a finely crafted set of chilled tracks that sounds like a retro ‘Sixties’ version of Nightmares On Wax. All tracks have been mastered by Simon Mills at his studio in Nottingham & the title track featured on ‘Rob Da Banks’ ‘Blue Room’ Radio 1 show which received a very positive response from chill out fans from around the world.
