Traditional owners the Butchulla people, have a long and ongoing relationship with K’gari (Fraser Island). In order to acknowledge the important connection to country of the Butchulla people, the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing’s (NPRSR) and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) urges visitors to treat the country they are travelling through with respect and care. Butchulla people want their messages of care and respect for the land to reach all people visiting the island. As visitors explore K'gari (Fraser Island), they will see signs carrying a ‘welcome to country’ message from the Butchulla

TREADLE the 100-year-old lathe & help make your own wooden souvenir. Be apart of the corn-shelling demonstration or help make your own souvenir piece of sisal rope, again using 100-year-old machinery.
Bring along bread, sauce & sausages and use the free barbecue. Hot water available for tea/coffee.
The Historical Village & Museum is open all school & public holidays except Good Friday & Christmas Day. Tour groups are always welcome.
