“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen.” -Revelation 1:18a Over three decades ago, the world was shocked to learn of the tragic death of John Lennon, the internationally known rock star and former Beatle. Mark David Chapman was the man who shot and killed him in Manhattan, New York, on the night of December 8, 1980. This is his story, in his own words....

JOHN LENNON “30 YEARS AT ATTICA” By Mark David Chapman

I’m about to write. A man is dead because of my decisions. Many other people were hurt. I am writing this to help others think before acting and hopefully go in a different direction ... away from selfishness, which is the root cause of our problems. It was a December night in 1980... It wasn’t particularly cold that long December night, but I dressed in a coat anyway. Pacing back and forth in front of the famed Dakota Apartments on West 72nd Street, I had arrived with one horrible plan in mind: to kill John Lennon! Why had I thought of

such a plan? Why John Lennon? I continued pacing the narrow strip of asphalt that formed the driveway at the entrance of the building .... A little background on myself first.. I was born in 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of David and Diane Chapman. At first, my life was like most everyone else’s. There were some fights at home, and I ran away once to Miami, Florida, but things like this were happening in homes and projects all across America in 1969. But when I turned 14, my life began to change. Although I did most of the things

Due to a serious back problem, she was confined to her bed for a year and her weight swelled to 220 pounds. “My uncle was really lost, he didn’t know what to do,” Nizar said. But after spending several weeks in the Islamic scripture, he became disillusioned and said, “OK, let’s see another thing.” So he began to converse with some of the Druze refugees about their faith. Their religion is considered a monotheistic Abrahamic religion, but it does not follow the Five Pillars of Islam. Their beliefs in-

I loved drugs, and even quit school for months. All I did was do drugs and hang out with my friends. It was great for a while. But no matter what I did, or what I tried, I was never really happy. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD SEEN MY FATHER CRY

For about two years, I ran around like this just wanting to have fun in my life. One time I got so high I was arrested at 2 AM trying to find my way home after a rock con-

The Druze call themselves “People of Unitarianism or Monotheism.” After the uncle searched for answers among the Druze he concluded, “OK, I have found nothing here. Let’s go to another place.” Then he found a New Testament and started reading. “He read and read and read. After one week he was bored,” Nizar recounted. One day Nizar’s uncle walked into the living room, set the New Testament down, and began to pour himself a drink of arak, an anise-flavored, distilled alcoholic beverage. “He was an alcoholic,” Nizar noted. “When he was spiritual he left alcohol, but now he decided to go back.” At the same time, his wife was in the other room in severe pain. At this point, he was desperate for any kind of breakthrough and cried out to God. “OK, (God), what do you want from me? I have been through all this. You know that deep in my heart, I love you. cert. When my father came to pick me up from jail, he cried. It was the first time I had ever seen him cry. I used to travel alone a lot during the summers and once, when I was 16 years old, I went to stay at my grandparents’ house in Ormond Beach, Florida, for two weeks. I will never forget one night there. It had been a real bad one. No drugs, no friends, and I felt really lonely. I was empty inside and I knew it. I was hurting. I had been deeply betrayed earlier by someone I thought was a friend. I remember lying on the sofa in the living room, looking up at the ceiling, the room very quiet. AMURIA, UGANDA (ANS -- January 2017) A Sunni Muslim sheikh, trained in Islamic proselytization, went to a church service in December to kill a Ugandan bishop. Like Saul of Tarsus persecuting the earliest Christians, God had other plans for his life. In Amuria, about 170 miles northeast of Kampala, Bishop George Edweu of the Pentecostal Upright Church, was preaching December 4th about hearing and understanding the

The Word and the Spirit broke through the stony places in the sheikh’s heart, causing him to rush up to the podium and fall headlong at the bishop’s feet. Christians Sentenced To Prison In Sudan

JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN (Feb.1, 2017) -- A judge in Sudan on Sunday (Jan. 29) sentenced Czech aid worker Petr Jasek to life in prison and two other Christians to prison terms of 12 years on charges related to “espionage,” a defense attorney said, according to the Sudan Correspondent for Morning Star News (www.morningstarnews.org)

Nettleton says the arrest appears to be a political move. “It seems to be two possibilities. One is the Islamic leader [Fethullah] Gulen who is in the United States, the Turks have asked the U.S. to extradite him back to Turkey, and the U.S. has said no. It is possible that Andrew Brunson is, in some ways, a pawn in that game to try to encourage the United States to extradite Fethullah Gulen. “The other possibility is just that [Brunson] was caught up in the crackdown that is going on across Turkey since the coup attempt last year. “Petr Jasek was imprisoned for life,” attorney Muhanad Nur told Morning Star News. Morning Star News reported that along with the life sentence for espionage and waging war against the state, Jasek was also sentenced to six months in prison for spreading false rumors undermining the authority of the state (“spreading false news aimed at tarnishing the image of Sudan”) and a fine of 100,000 Sudanese pounds (US$16,000) for

working for a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Sudan without a permit. He was also sentenced to one year in prison each for inciting strife between communities, entry in and photography of military areas and equipment and illegal entry into Sudan. Responding to the news, the Czech Foreign Ministry in Prague said the verdict was without basis, according to The AP (Associated Press). It reported that a deputy foreign minister will travel to Sudan to try to negotiate Jasek’s release, and that the foreign minister is prepared to go also if necessary. The Foreign Ministry said Jasek was in Sudan only to help Christians. Also on Sunday, the court in Khartoum convicted the Rev. Hassan Abdelrahim Tawor and Abdulmonem Abdumawla of Darfur for assisting Jasek in the alleged espionage, causing hatred among communities and spreading false information, Nur said. They received 10-year sentences for espionage-related charges, and two years of prison for “inciting hatred between sects” and “propagation of false news.” The sentences are to be served consecutively. Nur said he had no comment on the verdict, but

Abdumawla, who initially said he was Muslim but later admitted he was Christian, was arrested in December 2015 after he began collecting money to help a friend, Ali Omer, who had needed treatment for burns suffered in a student demonstration. Paul Popov, of Door of Hope International, in an e-mail update said of his good friend and ministry partner, Peter Jasek: “I am so saddened by this unjust ruling. Peter is a friend who I have personally known for many years. I ask you to please bring his name before the Lord and pray fervently for him and the other two pastors, Taour and Abdumawla who each received 12year sentences. We must mobilize all resources we Christians have to reduce this very inhumane harsh sentence! “Peter Jasek is not a spy but a wonderful man trying to do good for needy people all over Africa. I will be launching a campaign to fight this harsh and unjust prison sentence. “Thank you for standing together with me for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are today suffering imprisonment for loving the Lord!” Foreign diplomats and international rights activists took notice of the case after Morning Star News broke the story of the arrest of two pastors in December 2015. ities, according to Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW). Authorities also were said to have found Jasek had given money for Omer’s medical costs, but prosecutors accused Jasek of donating it to rebel groups. Prosecutors had charged Jasek, also arrested in December 2015, with “tarnishing Sudan’s image” by documenting persecution. At one hearing, an official with Sudan’s notorious National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) accused the defendants of conducting “hostile activities against the state that threaten the national and social security” in Sudan. A CSW press statement asserted that the case “further illustrates the politicization of the criminal justice system by the National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) which, under the pretext of investigating national security crimes, has brought charges against members of the political opposition, human rights defenders and leaders of minority religions, as occurred in the case of Reverends Yat Michael and Peter Reith in 2015.” CSW Advocacy Director Joel Edwards said the serious charges against the three Christians were unwarranted and the excessive sentences unjustified, given the paucity of evidence against them. “Mr. Jasek, Rev. Abduraheem and Mr. Abdumaw-la are not spies; they

were simply driven by compassion to source finance for the medical treatment of a man whose injuries are so severe that he requires ongoing medical care,” Edwards said in a press statement. “We call for the annulment of the verdict and the immediate release of these three men. In addition, we urge the Sudanese authorities once again to undertake a review of the sweeping powers exercised by the NISS and to end the targeting of ethnic and religious minorities.” Advocacy group Middle East Concern (MEC), which confirmed the life sentence for Jasek, also reported that four churches are threatened with demolition in Sudan. “A court ruled that the authorities must supply the lawyer for the churches with an official order for the demolition of the churches,” MEC reported in a press statement. “To the lawyer’s dismay, the official decision does not just involve the four churches he was representing, but also applies to another 21 places of worship (most of them churches) that are scheduled for demolition.” The organization requested prayer that the three convicted Christians will know the Lord’s strength and comfort during their ordeal; for wisdom for the lawyers defending them; for a fair appeal process, and that the three men will be acquitted soon; for an end to the increasing

knew the only thing I had left was to call out to God. But it was all I needed. I said, “God, if You are really there, will You help me?” It was then that something incredible happened. Just moments after I said this, I could feel Jesus in the room with me, just like you would any other person. He was really there- it wasn’t my imagination. It was the most amazing thing I had ever experienced. All those feelings of loneliness and hurt and emptiness came off of me and I knew He would always be with me the rest of my life, no matter what happened. I felt lighter. Calling out and meeting Jesus filled me with a happiness I had never known. I didn’t need drugs anymore! I had finally found what I was looking for. When I came back home, I began to talk with my friends about what had happened to me.

KNOWING JESUS I HAD NEVER HEARD About eight months before this, someone I had met in school named Jim invited me to spend a weekend with his church at a state park. I didn’t want to go, but finally said yes. The first night there, someone asked me if I wanted to watch a movie, a movie about Jesus. It explained that Jesus wasn’t just a person written about in a book, but someone who was real and could be known. I had heard about Him, that He wasn’t just an ordinary man. But anything religious was not for me. I believed in Jesus, didn’t everyone? But I just thought He was somewhere far away, at a distance. But something was different that night. As I watched the film, I learned things about Jesus I had never known before, that He wanted to be in our lives now, to be with us. I really began to understand JESUS IS LORD OF ALL! Jesus, the real Jesus. This

Maj. The Burma army has accused the two pastors of recruiting and spying for ethnic armed groups such as the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), which is fighting government forces in northern Shan state, eastern Burma. “The prosecutor charged those [two pastors] with illegal acts for contacting an illegal organization under Article 17/1 and Section 17/2,” the police officer said. Morning Star News said the military has accused the two men of serving as “informers and spreading false news on behalf of the armed insurgents,” according to a report by the Information Committee of the State Counsellor’s Office on Jan. 19. He repented of his sins as the shaken congregation looked on and Bishop Edweu prayed for him. Then the would-be assassin put his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was born again. News of the former sheikh’s conversion from Islam to Christianity spread swiftly, and the young sheikh knew he had to go into hiding because of death threats. He, his wife and two children, ages 2 and 4, took refuge with him at an undisclosed location. Loudspeakers from the local mosque began to announce on Fridays that the sheikh “needs to die for forsaking Islam.” On January 2nd, when Bishop Edweu was on his way to his church at 5 a.m. for a morning devotion, he saw a young man on the ground, apparently in trouble. As a Good Samaritan, he got out of his car to attend to him, he recounted to MSN. As he approached, six masked men suddenly appeared and grabbed Bishop Edweu, demanding that he reveal the whereabouts of the sheikh. Some of the men began slapping and kicking the bishop; others hit him with sticks.

“As I fell down, a vehicle with bright lights flashed, which scared them away, and they disappeared into the nearby bush,” Bishop Edweu told MSN. “The vehicle arrived and took me into the church compound. Inside the church building we found a letter with a threatening message: ‘We are going to destroy your church unless you show us where [name withheld] is.’” The bishop and his congregation fear more persecution could be imminent. The incident was the latest in a series of anti-Christian attacks in eastern Uganda. Muslim relatives of a young woman in eastern Uganda who put her faith in Christ at a Christmas service coerced her into taking poison at a New Year’s celebration, she said. Sandra Summaya, 24, of Bugayi village, told MSN she had converted to Christianity at a worship service on Christmas Day. On Christmas Day Muslims in eastern Uganda beat Christians at a worship service and wrecked the home of a single mother on Christmas Eve, sources said. On Dec. 8, relatives of a former Islamic teacher at-

wasn’t religion. No one had ever told me I could actually meet Him, that I could know Him. I had never wanted to have anything to do with God at all, or at least I thought so. And then, finally, on that night alone at my grandparents’ home, as I called out, the real, living Jesus came to me. I knew things would never be the same. I TURNED FROM WHAT MATTERED MOST-JESUS I really believed in Jesus, but I was young, and as the months went by, except for the drugs, I went back to my old self and soon grew cold toward him. I thought at times I was happy, but I wasn’t. I knew it deep down inside me. Something was missing. I had turned from what mattered most- Jesus. Emptiness began to bother me again. I had thrown away all of my new life and I began to run from myself, and from Him .... I SANK DEEPER AND DEEPER More months went by. I decided to go away to school in Tennessee, the college where I eventually broke down. I began to feel like a big “nobody.” It was 1975 when I had just come

back from a job working with the Vietnamese War refugees and I wanted to do something important with my life. But instead I just sank deeper and deeper into a depression. I didn’t know why it started and it went on for weeks. I quit school soon after and returned to Georgia. I got a job I thought was right for the nobody I now saw myself as: I became a security guard. First at the Atlanta Airport, then at a county hospital. All I did was work, mostly long night hours. I was miserable. I began to withdraw from everything and started living in my own world ... and finding nothing there. I FELT LIKE I WAS INSIDE A BIG BLACK CLOUD I grew more and more depressed. It felt as though I were inside a big black cloud. I thought my life had become meaningless. I felt really lost. I began to have fights with my one friend, and arguments with my girlfriend. I cut myself off from everyone else. I couldn’t see where I was going, where I was headed. It was horrible. Looking back on it now, I can understand why I star-

ted thinking about killing myself. When I was 22 years old, I decided to do just that-take my own life. In May of 1977, I sold all of my possessions and bought a one-way plane ticket to Hawaii, where I was going to end it all. I still remember the short drive I took up the coast of the island, looking for a quiet place to die. Finding a small wooded area near the beach, I attached a cheap vacuum cleaner hose to the exhaust pipe of my rental car and put it carefully through the back hatch. I closed my eyes and sat waiting, expecting my life would be over in minutes. But nothing happened. A small hole from the heat of the hose that had burned it open and a nearby fisherman kept me from killing myself. My true Friend Jesus had never left me. Driving back down the highway, I knew I needed real help. Getting rid of the car, I took a bus to a health clinic where I spoke to a woman and told her what had happened. She quickly drove me to a hospital.

tacked his 60-year-old mother for becoming a Christian, wounding her head and breaking her hand, sources said. Aimuna Namutongi sustained a deep cut on her forehead. She and her son, 30-yearold Malik Higenyi, were trying to gather cassava at 10 a.m. on the homestead he had been forced to abandon after Muslim relatives threatened to kill him if he returned. Higenyi, whom Muslim relatives had beaten unconscious on Nov. 13 after he publically confessed having embraced Christianity, managed to escape the wrath of those who arrived at his farm. About 85 percent of the people in Uganda are Christian and 11 percent Muslim, with some eastern areas having large Muslim populations. The country’s constitution and other laws provide for religious freedom, including the right to propagate one’s faith and convert from one faith to another, but Christians in eastern Uganda are suffering continual attacks by non-state figures.

UNDER THEIR CARE MY DARKNESS LIFTED At the hospital I was ad mitted to one of their special units and slept for three days. Under their care, my darkness lifted. I began to feel like a person again. Later, I even got a job there. It was an ordinary job, but I felt OK. I was getting better. About a year later, I decided to take a vacation and do something I had only dreamed about, to travel to many countries and experience things and cultures I had never seen before. It was at the travel agency where I planned this trip that I met a wonderful woman, my future wife, Gloria .... GLORIA: I met Mark in January of 1978. In the beginning of our relationship, when Mark was doing very well, he talked to me about God and the experience he had at his grandparents’ house when he was young. I was surprised at how deeply he talked about these things, and how Jesus had been so real to him that night in the room and afterwards. He explained to me the death of Jesus, what that really meant. The Spirit Of Truth uffany By Madeline D

Dear Reverend, Because I am politically-minded, I have many women friends who meet in our coffee klatch to discuss on-going events in our government. It can be very stimulating, and usually my friends look to me for direction and input. I am the senior in our group and am an ordained minister. Recently, my lady friends (all but three of them) traveled to our Capitol to take part in a march against the established laws of the land – some old, some new. After watching the news on TV, I was so glad that I had stayed home! It was with great embarrassment that I saw women cursing and screaming, with much immodest dress. It was ugly, and I don’t know what it accomplished. Now, because I did not participate in the march, I feel rather isolated. The phone calls for invites have

ceased, and, if I see a friend in town, they try to avoid me. Instead of looking up to me, they are looking down! Rejected +++ Dear Rejected: You are never rejected by Father God! Let’s choose a different word: how about ejected? Like a pilot whose plane is going down and a parachute opens so that he can land safely. I see you ‘bailing out’ of this type of group. Obviously, the Holy Spirit convicted you, and you did not go with your friends. Ps. 91:1 says, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”. Things have changed in the warfare of the 21st Century. Today, women are on the front lines fighting alongside men. This is not something new. Christian women, God’s

‘Warrior Women’, play a very decisive role. Women who do not understand the power of God or how He enables us, try to do other things for recognition. But, a ‘Warrior Woman’ derives her wisdom, strength, and power fromGod. Let’s look at two Warrior Women in the Bible for our examples. Deborah, the Fourth Judge of Israel and a prophetess, was intimately acquainted with God and was instructed by the Holy Spirit. She had the gift of wisdom, and she heard the words of God. There is no stopping in becoming empowered; no end to more love, more power, more wisdom. We can shine forth as ‘Warriors of Light’ in a day when there is so much darkness on every side. Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world.” Matt. 5:14

He said the two pastors were in good health, adding, “We didn’t see any wound on their bodies.” Morning Star News said the military, which had detained the two men at its base in Mong Ko, handed over the two pastors to civilian police custody in Muse town on Jan. 22. Sources said the pastors had gone to the Byuha Gon military base to negotiate the release of a civilian couple who had complained to army officials about the destruction of their house. Military officials released the couple

and detained the clergy men, they said. The news outlet stated that armed conflict between Burma and ethnic separatist organizations erupt- ed anew in northern Shanstate in November, forcing over 50,000 refugees in total to flee to other areas of the state and the border with China. The outlet explained that after more than five years of intensified conflict since Burma violated a 17-year cease-fire in 2011, many Kachin face protracted displacement and are desperate to return home, according to a report by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. The Burma army launched major offensives against the KIA for several

months last year and took over several strategic military bases. Earlier this month, Burma authorities restricted Yanghee Lee, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights in Burma, from visiting refugees in some conflict-torn areas in Kachin state. Burma is about 80 percent Buddhist and 9 percent Christian. The government has recognized the special status of Buddhism in Burma and promoted it as a means to consolidate support. Burma ranked 28th on Christian support organization Open Doors’ 2017 World Watch List of the 50 countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian. +++

THE STORY OF THE MAN WHO KILLED

JOHN LENNON “30 YEARS AT ATTICA”

God’s Son, was sent from Heaven to die for us in our place, for all the wrong we had done, and that all we had to do was simply call out to Him and believe in Him and ask for His forgiveness. Those who did this could then really know Him, find a better life here, then one day go to Heaven to be with Him forever when they die. I didn’t understand everything at first, but I did feel what he was explaining to me was true. When I was about 28 years old, I had been going to church with Mark for about five months, and one day I said out loud to God: “I don’t know if You are real, but if You are, I want to know You.” It was a sincere prayer, and He really began answering it. By the time of my marriage to Mark in June of 1979, I had found Jesus Christ and knew that He was very real. I finally had all the answers I had been seeking ... in finding and knowing Jesus. MARK: Things seemed good then. I had a good job, an incredible place to live, and a beautiful wife to share it all with. But although I had gotten back on my feet, I was still in deep need of help. At the time, however, we just didn’t know how badly. Both of our lives, and many others, would be terribly changed the following year, 1980. I BEGAN RUNNING INTO THE DARKNESS AGAIN I quit my job to take what I thought was a better job at the hospital, running the printing press there. It wasn’t the job for me and everything soon grew

worse. Once more, I left my friends. I began running into the darkness again. Days went by and I felt anxious and troubled. I started drinking more to try to get away from these feelings. It didn’t work. I became a nightmare of alternating rage and insanity. After an argument with one of the hospital supervisors, I was asked to leave the job. I tried to look for another one but couldn’t find anything good. The only thing left for me to do was another security job. It was the beginning of the end for me .... While sitting alone in our apartment one day looking through some old phonograph records, I came across a photo of John Lennon in one of them. It was then that a horrible thought came into my mind- the thought of killing him. It would be an immediate solution to all my depression and darkness. I would gain instant fame. I would finally be a “somebody.” It was a terrible way to solve my problems, one of pure selfishness, but once I started thinking about it, I couldn’t stop. I immediately began planning a trip to New York City, learning through a book where he lived. I flew there in the fall of 1980 and waited for him outside of his apartment building. He never showed up, and a few days later I returned home, thinking I could start my life over again somehow. It didn’t last. My compulsion began to build again, and two months later I bought another one-way ticket to New York. It was the worst decision I would

ever make. 10:50 PM, DECEMBER 8, 1980 The long white limousine had turned on to West 72nd Street and pulled up to the Dakota’s entrance. John Lennon got out of the big car, carrying recordings from a studio session he and his wife, Yoko Ono were just returning from. Now he was coming up the driveway ... and I was ready. John looked at me as he walked past. I believe he may have recognized me as the man who earlier that day had approached him and asked for his autograph. He had been very patient and kind to me. Now, alone and in the darkness, as he walked toward the security office, I took out the .38 Special revolver I had hidden in my coat pocket and fired it at his back. He stumbled into the office, Yoko right next to him. Standing there, waiting for the police to come, as John Lennon lay dying, the doorman came up to me and grabbed my wrist, shaking the gun from my hand. As it fell and hit the asphalt, he kicked it across the driveway and told me to leave. But I couldn’t. I remember turning to him and saying, “But where would I go?” The police arrived and arrested me and drove me to the precinct. In their holding cell I asked God to turn back time. Unfortunately I had previously made my decision- and now would pay for it. I have no real excuse for this murder. I wasn’t on drugs; I wasn’t the obsessed fan some people felt I was in an effort to understand the reason for what happened. I was just so selfish, so lost inside myself, so desperate for a way out, that when I saw an opportunity to become

what I thought would be a “somebody,” I decided to end the life of a man I did not even know. I did this coldly and without thinking about anyone else. IF ONLY I HAD TALKED WITH HIM In the weeks before the murder, God had spoken deeply to my heart and conscience about my plan to kill John Lennon. But I didn’t listen. I remember calling Gloria late on the night before the murder, and without knowing my plans, she told me I should start talking with Jesus again. If I had wanted, I could have asked Jesus to help me. He was right there. But I chose not to. If only I had talked with Him then. He was the only One Who would have understood .... CHANGED ... BY HIM Today, I am not the same Mark Chapman. I’m not perfect, but I have stopped running. I was a fool and I don’t want you to make the same mistake of using selfish decisions to solve your problems. Believe me, there is another way. When the doorman had asked me to leave the building, I said, “But where would I go?” I have learned the hard lesson that there is only one real place to go--Jesus. He is the one Friend who will never leave you, or fail you. If you call out to Him, He will hear you and He will answer you. If you think there’s no one who knows what you’re going throughin prison, in life, where ever you are- you’re wrong. Jesus knows---and cares. He is all you need and will help you with any problem or situation you may have. He will lift you high above the waters and keep you safe. He just wants to be with you. Call out to Him now. Thank you for reading this. I appreciate your

time. I urge you to think about the things I’ve talked about here and consider asking Jesus into your life. Listen to these things Jesus said. They will help you to find Him. “... I will NEVER send away anyone who comes to me. “ John 6:37 “.. . I am the way and the truth and the life ... “ John 14:6 “God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him Will not die but will have eternal life.” John 3:16 “.. . I stand at the door and knock. If any of you hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in ... “ Revelation 3:20 Open the door to Jesus. He will come into your life if you want Him to. Here is a simple prayer you can say: ‘Jesus, I call out to You now. Will You help me? Will You forgive me? I’ve done things I knew were wrong against You and others, and I need You. I want YOU in my Life, I am tired of this one. You said if I came to You, You would give me rest. I want this peace and rest. I want to MEET You, Jesus. I want You to CHANGE me. I come to You now . . . . Thank You, Jesus. “ If you spoke with Jesus like this, you are forgiven and can begin living a wonderful life with Him. Get a copy of the Bible. A good place to start is the Gospel of John, which is an eyewitness account of the life of Jesus and the important things He talked about. Talk with others who know and really follow Jesus. Go to church if you can, and be baptized. Make time to be alone with Jesus and talk with Him about everything. Tell others about Jesus, and what He has done for you. Because you have be

lieved in Him and called out to Him, your life has changed and you can be content- the real kind of happiness. Finally, if you are still undecided, think about all these things. Don’t forget them. And always remember these few words: Call out to Jesus. Ask Him to come into your life. Ask Him to be with you! I hope this has been helpful to you. Thank you. The film, based on Scott’s journals, tells the story of a teen-aged gril who strug-

gled with family issues, peer pressure boys, and mild depression. Deeper though, is the story of a girl who struggled to live out her faith in God, to take it from an internal belief system to a daily practice that was reflected in the way she treated others. Scott was known among the halls of Columbine for being a Christian and for treating others with kindness. The film follows Scott through her struggles, as she works to discover herself and to

spread kindness to those around her to the ultimate end of her life when she refused to renounce her faith in God. “It was an honor to make a film about Rachel’s amazing life,.... The film sends the hopeful message, that no matter what you’ve been through, that your compassion for others can make a powerful impact in this world.” - Director Brian Baugh I’m Not Ashamed is rated PG-13.

OUR DAILY WALK: BE CAREFUL HOW YOU HANDLE GOD’S WORD! We are considering Matt 15:24: The Lost Sheep of the house of Israel. Please read Matt 15:21-28, the whole of Jesus’ discussion with the disciples about the Syro-Phoenician woman. 1. She was a Gentile (on the coast of Phoenicia – away from the center of Israel). 2. She needed healing for her daughter. 3. The disciples wanted Jesus to send her away, showing no mercy or compassion for her because of the times and existing Jewish culture and beliefs. 4. But, Jesus said, “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of Israel.” 5. Verse 25 – she worshipped Him – after He said, It is not right to take the children’s bread and cast it to the dogs. He was saying it is not right to

give the benefits and blessings to someone other than the people of Israel who were the first children of the Kingdom (John 1:11; Mt 10:6; Rom 1:16). The children of Israel were to receive these divine rights, healing, and redemption benefits – first, before going outside of the house of Israel to the gentiles (Mt 7:7-11; 17:20; Mk 9:23; Lk 11:1-3, elsewhere). 6. The term ‘dogs’ was not an offensive slur or derogatory. The woman used it regarding herself and her people, as did Jesus. It was a common term for a nonJew or a partial Jew, at that time, not a reproach. 7. The point is, Jesus was not saying that the house of Israel had lost sheep, or lost tribes, or other Jews who were physically lost. The house of Israel was lost in SIN, because of going astray from God, not

A Quest For New Strength

because their national identity or location was unknown. Jesus was saying, I am sent to the house of Israel, whose sheep are lost in Sin. He was not inferring that some of their physical whereabouts were unknown. Proof? Read Matt 10:5-6. Jesus was sending out his disciples. Jesus said, Do not go to the gentiles or Samaritans, but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. (Reader, do you know who the Samaritans were? If not, please study who they were, and their beliefs, culture, etc. at that time period). Here in two verses, in one sentence, Jesus said that the lost sheep of Israel were the ones they were to go at that time, not to the gentiles – yet! They were to go to the Jews first, then

Psalm 31:22, 24 (NIV) You heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help…Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord. People don’t become bitter without having suffered deep emotional or physical pain. There is always pain deep down in the roots of bitterness, pain that came from rejection, insult, abuse, or loss. What kind of images come to your mind when you think of your own suffering? In the process of rooting out bitterness, you have to continue to go deeper until you’ve finally reached the last bit of it. So go deeper than you have before. What is there that hasn’t come up yet? What else can you remember? What still needs to go? Some things are so repressed that it might seem like just too much effort to go down that far at this point. Nobody is going to make you do it, but it might help, if you try. So-

tions to or from the Word. Anyone who plays with changing, deleting from, or adding to, the Word of God, as revealed and written and confirmed by the Holy Spirit, is in mortal danger of their eternal destination (Rev 22:18-19). If you do not believe what the Word says in these two verses and elsewhere about God’s Word (Thy Word forever is settled in Heaven, etc.), then you probably do not believe all of God’s Word. This is very dangerous ground! Also, anyone who teaches different from the Word is responsible for the souls who go astray because of such false teaching. The Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Seventh-Day Adventists, and others have changed the Bible or deliberately misinterpreted the Word, falsified the real words and meanings, and have produced entire religions which are blinding people to the truth, and keeping them from God’s true Word for them, here on earth and in their eternal destination. Back off and take stock of where you are. Go back to your first love, your first sure knowing that the Bible is the complete, written revelation of a Holy God. There is no other! Why would you, or anyone

the Greeks (gentiles). Ask yourself: How could the disciples go to the lost sheep of Israel if those sheep were lost in the world somewhere? (The destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD does not enter here as a valid discussion point or consideration: read about the previous scatterings of the Jews to Babylon and Syria). NO! The lost sheep were the Jews who had strayed from God AT THAT PERIOD IN TIME and were lost in SIN! These were JEWS, not Anglo-Saxons or other gentiles. Only Jews and Gentiles are mentioned in the Word (Rom 3:9; 1Cor 10:32; etc.). The Jews then and now make up ALL the tribes of Israel. (Mt 19:8; Acts 26:7; James 1:1; Rev 7:4; Rev 21:12). Again, there is not one distinction made between the Jews and Israelites in the Word. All tribes are still Jews and Israelites. The Anglo-Saxon theory of lost tribes is not Biblical, and is a false doctrine. The Bible is complete. There is NO continuing revelation, or addition to, God’s Word, after or outside of the Bible. Study the Bible, God’s word, as it is. The Holy Spirit will confirm its truth. He will not confirm additions or dele-

me parts of you might be healed, if you would. As a painful memory comes to mind, try to view whatever recollection you have of it through the eyes of mercy—no matter how brutal it may be. Let mercy come. Let it come to the memory and let it come to you as you remember something that is painful. Take your time and let mercy work. There is healing when we allow mercy to flood situations of untold heartache. Try not to have the same feelings you normally have when you think of that memory this time. Try to let the merciful love of the Lord come into your heart and that situation, and let mercy flow like oil into the wound. Know mercy. Know healing. Know the Lord. You may be able to keep going deeper and remember things that gave life to bitterness…or, maybe bitterness is there and you can’t recall why. Maybe

you’ve tried to remember what it could be that caused bitterness to take root, but you have no conscious recollection. You just know that there was something ‘back there’ that could possibly be too painful to remember. That too, is mercy. You may wish you could remember, but try looking at it this way. Consider the fact that God may have put His hand over the memory of that pain to protect you from it. It’s possible that God created a hiding place within you where He allowed the deepest hurts to be placed so they wouldn’t be able to cause you more harm. Consider the fact that they were buried for a reason. Can you have peace with that? Can you rest with the fact that the things you can’t remember—that you know are there—were buried and hidden by your Healer? In bringing closure to your Continuation on Page: 8

Counselor’s Corner:

SAFE HARBOR By: Louise Alleva

You’ve got a “strange kind of love for me. The kind of love that sets me free.” I recently heard this beautiful praise song and it still touches me dearly. These words are a statement of how much the Father loves us even when we feel unloved or are being unlovable. An example of that kind of love reminds me of trying to find a safe harbor during the storms in our lives. Many of us either try to ride each storm out on our own without seeking Father’s love or we drown in sorrows and regrets. The safe harbor of Father’s Love is right in front of us and many do not seek it in the middle of our storms and it seems sometimes to take us further from Him.

Either way we do not find His safe harbor. Several years ago, I sought the Lord for answers when I was experiencing several storms of my own. He brought to mind a childhood memory. My family lived on a 40-acre island on the Mississippi River. There were several homes located there and we all enjoyed a rare benefit of island living while still able to drive on or off a small bridge to the mainland. But it was not always fun summers of boating, fishing, community barbeques, etc. The winters would come with the river freezing over and occasionally severe Spring flooding. One year was worse than others. The ice

bitterness, you have two things to do. Release the painful things you can remember, and have peace with the things you can’t. Knowing you have hurts that the Lord allowed to be hidden should give you a feeling of comfort. It’s His way of not allowing you more torment. If not being able to recall all of the details of your painful past causes you anxiety, try to just lay it to rest. You may have a hard time doing that and imagine that something would always be missing if you can’t remember all of it. You might wonder how all of the pieces of your life will ever fit together if you can’t remember every detail. Try thinking of your life as a puzzle. See all of the pieces laid out on a table. Everything is put together and there are missing pieces here and there. Now try imagining the blood of Jesus in those spots. It fills each hole and joins the pieces bordering it. It fills each place where there was pain and where something of you was lost. That’s what the blood of Jesus is able to do. The best way to move on from here is to have peace with the blood of Jesus filling the gaps and wounds

None of them were safe. Water was receding but the huge ice floes created by the ice breakers were heading towards the homes in the torrential spring floods waters. my family homeless and out of control for a season, the safe harbor of our Lord is always there waiting for us. He is just waiting to give us that place of security, peace, and “The kind of love that sets us free!” He has already placed a collar of the protection of His promises and Love around us like that ring of ice. You may ask where do we begin to find to the safe harbor of God’s love and protection? Well, Number 1, become part of a body of Christ that teaches and lives the true Word of God. Number 2, humble yourselves and allow yourselves to be “mothered and fathered” by other men and women who have been there before and know how to get through the storms of life and how to receive the love of the Father. Find someone to mentor you. I have a spiritual mother. She has received her inheritance and is subject to the Father’s mission, not hers, and she pours into me the guidance, direction and

Love of the Father I needed to reach my safe place. 3. Focus on Jesus and his mission to help us through the Scriptures to focus our lives on what it means to be a son or daughter of the Father. He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust! Psalm 32:7. Let the blood of Jesus and sweet mercy flow through you and your wounds and let all of it just go. Let it go. All of it. Cherish the fact that there is an antidote for your pain. Cherish the fact that your Savior cared enough about you to let His blood flow on your behalf, creating a precious antidote that could heal each and every pain you would ever suffer. Let it flow and let bitterness go… Declaration: I will release the painful things I can remember and have peace with the things I can’t. water receded a collar of ice was attached all the way around the house. The dangerous ice chunks that rushed down the river bounced off the ice collar and our home was not damaged! Others in our little community did not fare so well. However, when we witnessed this miracle happening, we felt both relieved and frustrated at being so close to our home yet so far away and we could not do anything to protect it. But God did. The Lord showed me through this memory how I was still searching for that place of protection even in my Christian walk. I am happy to be a Christian but at times I still feel helpless because I cannot find that safe harbor from my personal storms. Can you also feel the challenges of this world coming at you like those large pieces of ice? Do you still allow yourself to be buffeted by the storms of life? erful preaching, anointed singing, and Holy Ghost ministry shine GOD`S glory! They have seen thousands find new life in Jesus and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Deaf ears and blind eyes have been opened, cancers have disappeared, AIDS and leprosy have been healed, people have been delivered from the power of the demonic and financial miracles have been released. Many lives and even churches, businesses, cities and nations have been impacted by the accurate prophetic word of the Lord delivered with an increasing spiritual authority. As children, Russ & Kim were called by the Lord into ministry with Jeremiah 1 as “prophets to the nations,” not to one specific nation or people group, but to “go...into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” They believe that the nations are called to give glory to the Lord and that God is

preparing to make “the kingdoms of this world... the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ.” They desire to see closure come to the Great Commission and to see the Gospel of the Kingdom taken to every people group on earth. To this end, they have ministered and have much favor in many nations, including China, India, Pakistan, Bahrain, Singapore, Malaysia, Uganda, Russia, Poland, England, Ireland, Sweden, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, Jamaica, Canada and the US, with invitations back to these places & other parts of the world. It is the Word of God that will “Shatter the Darkness” in people’s lives. Russ preaches the uncompromised Word, not in this world’s wisdom, but with the demonstration of the Spirit’s power and with a strong prophetic anointing, as well as with a practical and humorous style. Kim is blessed with an anointed and powerful campmeeting-style singing ministry. She also has

a captivating and moving ministry in speaking and sharing real life experiences and miracle testimonies that draw people into a more intimate walk with Jesus, release great faith in their hearts and encourage believers to move into their destiny. Russ and Kim feel that a great need in the Church today is the release of the anointing of the Holy Spirit through the lives of all believers, causing them to fulfill their God-ordained destiny. Thus, their ministry also focuses on training, equipping, empowering and releasing saints into their ministries. This is done through seminars and practical training in prophetic, evangelistic and miracle ministry. The theme of their ministry is “Shatter the Darkness.” Isaiah 60:1 says, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the GLORY of the LORD is risen upon you.” The world is on the brink of an invasion of the Spirit of God. HOUSTON, TX- For seven Super Bowls, Nita Belles has brought attention to the troubling occurrence of human trafficking that takes place during major sporting events. And this year is no different. Millions are awaiting the big game between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons, scheduled to take place in Houston, Texas, the host city of Super Bowl 51, on Sunday, February 5, 2017, but as in previous years, human trafficking is a real concern to many, especially Nita Belles. Belles is the founder of In Our Backyard (IOB) -- http://inourbackyard. org/ -- and today (Saturday, January 28, 2017) she officially announced the launch of the “Convenience Stores Against Trafficking” (CSAT) initiative. She did so during her appearance as keynote speaker at “Vulnerable: A Conference on the Issues of Gender, Race, Poverty & Human Trafficking,” held at South Main Baptist Church, 4100 Main St. in Houston. Book cover VISTA, CA (ANS – January 25, 2017) -- What must it feel like to discover you were aborted? To discover that you were meant to die, but instead you lived -- and you cannot understand why your birth mother wanted you killed? You Carried Me, a daughter’s memoir recounts Melissa Ohden’s life and escape from death -- from a botched-abortion, turned accidental birth, to forgiveness for all who were involved in seeking her death. Adopted by hard working, God-fearing parents at only two-months-old, she experiences the same humble joys and challenges any child growing up in the heart of rural America encounters. Surrounded by a large extended family, siblings and church friends, her life seems normal. She is just an ordinary girl. Or so she thinks. It is not until her sister’s unplanned pregnancy that Melissa, now a teen, discovers the haunting secret about her own past -- she is an abortion survivor. This traumatizing news plunges her into a dark space and launches her quest to know why her

birth parents had wanted to have her killed. Did they even know she was alive? Melissa Ohden brings us on an incredible and intimate journey full of shocking twists and turns as she tries to contact her birth parents and anyone who may know something about why she was aborted. Her story is riveting, compelling and enlightening. Things are not always what they seem to be. Beyond the helpless baby, abortions have many oth-

Kingdom Healings and Miracles

• They witness to Jesus Christ, authenticating the truth of His message and proving His identity as the Christ of God. • John 2:23 “..many people saw the miraculous signs He (Jesus) was doing and believed in His Name.” • They express Christ’s compassionate Love. Luke 7:11-17 “Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.” Then he went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.” This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country. “His heart went out” to the widow in Nain and He raised up her only son from the dead. 1. Miracles signify the Age of Salvation, the coming of the Kingdom of God and God’s invasion into the • Miracles serve many realm of Satan. Matthew 11:12 purposes in the Kingdom Scripture maintain that miof God. What are Miracles? Definition – A supernatural gift of the Spirit to believe that God will work miracles in an ordinary course of nature. Miracles are a supernatural manifestation by the Spirit, which is a sovereign act of God. The gifts of working of miracles are acts of power from God, such as raising the dead or a limb growing out. They are works of supernatural origin, power and signs that demonstrate God’s specific intervention into the lives of people. (Greek word “Dunamis”, is the dynamite or the power of God). We see that word dunamis in Acts 1: 8 But you shall receive power – the dunamis of God (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth. (Amplified) • The central greatest miracle of the New Testament faith is the Resurrection of Christ Jesus (I Cor. 15) Miracles transcend natural law - The supernatural of God overrides nature. Miracles are God’s Nature - When He speaks, creation happens. The Creativity, the Love and Compassion of God are all manifest in miracles. Miracles function as a sign or mark of Divine Authority – A Miracle can happen to both believers and the “not yet” believer.

racles are to operate throughout the entire Church age. Jesus sent out His followers to preach and perform miracles Matthew 10: 7-8 As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Luke 9:1-2 When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. Luke 10: 1, After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. Vs. 9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God is near you.’ Jesus declared that those who believed in Him, through the preaching of His gospel, would do the works that He did. John 14:12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. The book of Acts speaks of miracles performed through the lives of ordinary believers like you and I. Miracles were also called “signs” elsewhere in the New Testament by which the proclamation of the Gospel was confirmed. Miracles are “power encounters” against Satan’s domain of darkness.

Acts 3: 1-10 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. Adversity is the soil bed for miracles. Jesus, speaking to Martha and Mary before raising Lazarus from the dead, declared: “Did I not tell you, that if you believed, you would see the impossible? John 11: 38 – 44 Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. “Take away the stone,” he said. “But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.” Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you be-

lieved, you would see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.” Jesus wrought miracles everywhere He went. The demonized were set free. The power for miracles is in Christ and what he has done for us as believers. All Authority has been given to Jesus and he has delegated that authority & power to those who believe and rely on Him as their Lord and Savior. So, Authority and power have been given to us as believers by Christ to walk in. As yielded Kingdom servant- sons and daughters, we have been authorized to speak His Word and lay hands upon the sick, to cast out demons, and to lead them into a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. The Book of Acts speaks of Miracles and shows us some keys to setting an atmosphere for the Miraculous to take place: • Acts 2:42 they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer resulted in being filled with awe, many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the Apostles. Fellowship with Him! Confidence and boldness to step out in healing and miracles comes with the knowing assurance of fellowship with Him.

• Like the Apostle Peter in Acts 3:12, we say: “It is not us, but the power of Jesus’ Name and the faith that comes from Him that manifests miracles. THE KEY: FELLOWSHIP WITH JESUS, SPEND TIME WITH HIM! Through prayer you will be able with confidence to do as the believers in Acts 4 did and He will confirm His Word with Signs and Wonders. God wants to show Himself strong on our behalf. He wants to pour out His Spirit mightily on ordinary, everyday, spirit filled believers who will trust Him to lead them. Acts 9:17-18 Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord— Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized. This scripture reveals that a spirit- filled believer like Ananias or you and I, by waiting on the Lord, can receive an assignment from the Lord that will result in salvation, healings and miracles such as Ananias did as he waited upon the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord sent him to pray to restore sight to Saul and to lay hands upon him to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. We see in Acts 9: 32-35 as Peter traveled about the country, he went to visit the saints in Lydda. There he found a man named Aeneas, a paralytic who had been bedridden for eight years. “Aeneas,” Peter said to him, “Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and take care of your mat.” ImmedContinuation on Page: 11

iately Aeneas got up. All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord. All of the people who lived in Lydda & Sharon received salvation. We are going to see that in the days that lie ahead. Whole cities will turn to the Lord Jesus. Acts 9:32-42 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, who was always doing good and helping the poor. About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room. Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, “Please come at once!” Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them. Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She

opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called the believers and the widows and presented her to them alive. This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord. Get ready, get ready, get ready - we are going to see mighty healings, miracles, signs & wonders in 2017. The shekinah glory of the Lord will be revealed in a mighty way through His people in 2017. The best is yet to come!! Birds, Seeds, and Other Inspirations

By: Madeline Montez Duffany Today I emptied out the birdseed dish in my little garden as a particular visiting dove waited on the wall ledge watching me. The little dish had filled up with rainwater so the seeds were covered over. I spilled them on the ground and waited while the dove alighted down to peck at the seeds. He went to where only a few seeds had fallen between the cracks in the paving stones, while I kept thinking, “There’s a big pile of seeds right in front of you!” Yet, he would not advance to where the seeds were more plentiful. Isn’t that so much like us? The Lord has a bountiful supply of all things good for us, yet we peck around on the outside borders just

ingesting a few morsels while the whole world of God’s promises are right before us. Another interesting thing happened last night at the Praise and Worship practice. My husband, Bob, said to our little group, “Let’s pray now before we eat the sandwiches which Pastor Chuck brought”. We held hands and suddenly the power of the Holy Spirit fell on me with such force that I could hardly stand. I had told my friends beforehand how I had a severe ongoing pain in my left side. Many doctor visits and much money spent were of no avail. I believe that because I brought things to the ‘light’ that the Lord touched and healed me.

When we do this, sickness and sin can no longer hide in darkness and torment us. I am not saying that all sickness comes from a sin you committed, but the devil is a ‘roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour’. My husband showed me something in the way of spiritual matters. On the way home, he stated, “You have had that pain in your side for years, ever since we lost our baby in a miscarriage back in the late 80’s”. You need a church and friends who care, and God’s Word above all else! Rev. Madeline Montez Duffany

Luke 14:8 When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him; Luke 14:9 And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

Luke 14:10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.

Luke 14:11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

The moral is as a Christian we are to crucify self and exalt others, in the end we will be exalted (to heaven) by God.
